It's probably evil to suggest this, but anyone who thinks there's a better alternative to MOO 3 could suggest something else as an alternative at http://www.amazon.com/o/tg/stores/detail/-/videogames/B00005Y4Q0/advice/ (hint: GalCiv's ASIN is B0000899ZX ;-))

Wow. Lots of debate. I didn't think it would be so controversial when I suggested it to Frogboy - but then I didn't think people modifying other people's skins would end up being the main use of it. The way I figured, this would be a great way for authors to offer a lot more options for their own skins. For example, I'm sure any good skinner has had a lot of emails saying "oh, I think X is great, but I really would like it if it had Y in it/didn't have Z looking quite this way -

Go to http://www.stardock.com/support/ and enter your email address, your serial number and a link to the drengin downloader will be emailed to you (although you might want to try using Stardock central at http://www.stardock.com/files/StardockCentral080.exe instead).

Delmar: It's nice to go online and find that there are new things waiting for you. And it means that the GalCiv team can essentially work on these features (which appear to be mostly just more content, so I'm guessing they're fairly easy to do) until the release date, while the actual release copy of the core game has to be ready quite a bit before them.

Just had a sweep through the game. More to come later, perhaps. General: Numerous times, alt-tabbing or start-buttoning out stopped you coming back in again. Initial screens: Starting up fast is all very well, but stuttering for ten seconds afterwards and/or showing a big black rectangle really spoils the effect. The "help" buttons in the party selection area seem unnecessary - there's space for it below, and it could show up when the party is selecte

Delicious: Very much so. Make sure you have the latest drivers for what graphics hardware you do have. I think the next version of WB out on ODNT will also have a few tweaks to handling per-pixel and start menu transparency, so be on the lookout for that too.

Are people who can't get the explorer task panes using a non-English version of XP? There may be a problem with non-English versions of Windows XP not skinning the task panes according to other reports on the newsgroup.

Unfortunately WB registrations are only valid for the major version bought (ie 3.x), so you'll probably need to upgrade for about $10 (or $35 if you get ODNT), unless it was really late last year, in which case you might get a free upgrade. (/me doesn't know when the cutoff date is)

If you bought it recently you'll probably get it for free (depending what Stardock define as "recent") - otherwise, yes, it'll be an extra upgrade, probably around $10, or you could upgrade to ODNT for $35.

Blackcomb is (somewhat) derived from Watercolour, which was a theme included with beta copies of Windows XP (removed before final release). It hasn't got any official standing/affiliation with Microsoft.

WogWaEE: Alas, there is no way to change colours for just one app, as it is a systemwide setting. In IE you can force some things that are set to standard text colours to be a specific colour - maybe there's an option to do that in Opera?
