Try different skins. It shouldn't be really slow. Check that your virus scanner (if you have one) isn't scanning WBD files, or perhaps the BMP files that make up the skin.

You shouldn't have to have it. It is included with WindowBlinds. So don't specify it as DllName=SkinName/anim.dll, but just DllName=anim.dll.

XP handles it better, but any time you add more you're going to end up using more resources, even if it's just the memory to hold a few details while you're enumerating them.

Check Control Panel/Add / Remove Programs for CommonNames. It conflicts with WB and causes this problem.

Just copy one of the directories below Object Desktop\WindowFX, rename it, and edit the bitmap and shadow descriptor files inside - the format is much like that of WindowBlinds. Take a look at the newsgroups for more hints.

You can disable it right now, though. Deselect "Use Windows XP style explorer bars" in WB Advanced Configuration/Settings. At least the colours will be right, then, if not the style.

It starts looking like that when I move it back down, but resizes up again when I let go of the pointer. I don't doubt that you have this problem, though, as I've seen shots from other people with it (it messes up some of my skins). Newsgroup messages don't usually disappear. Try resetting that newsgroup? Outlook Express in particular tends to "lose" posts, or stop getting new ones.

You can't. It's free. I suppose you could send $10 to Stardock if you really wanted, but it's not necessary.

Except just don't save them in Photoshop, because it's terrible at compressing them. You can either use PSP or save them and then recompress using PNGCrush (http://pmt.sourceforge.net/pngcrush/)

Write your own .def files! Or just go back to using good old notepad and guessing the attributes from dumps of wblind.dll. Here's something I dug out earlier - the spin controls are [UpDown.Horz] and [UpDown.Vert].
