They all do different things. Stardock apps like DesktopX, ObjectBar and WindowBlinds are intended to work with the current shell, whilst others can replace it. WindowBlinds skins windows - it change how the frames, buttons and controls look. On XP it also skins the taskbar and start panel. ObjectBar does bars, like the aforementioned XP taskbar (popular on 9x), but it also does mac-like top-bars and indeed just about any sort of bar you want. DesktopX is something a b

Ahh. The thing with this is, there was actually an Exile skin bundled with it, and (IIRC) a shareware copy of WindowBlinds. What probably happened is WindowBlinds uninstall got triggered by it. Try reinstalling WindowBlinds?

As another example: I and two other skinners were asked (through a third party) to create a certain skin. Together we recieved 3D graphics equipment with a value roughly equivalent to Dangeruss's proposed fee (either above or below depending on how you view engineering sample hardware). Sometimes you can be offered non-monetary rewards, and if you're interested in them, they're often "worth" more than an alternative money offer. jcg: Could you back up that assertion with a link? And the fact remains, assault rifles are intended to kill people. Buckets of water and pantyhose aren't. That's the difference.

No, it would translate into more cracked copies. 30 day countdowns are one of the easiest sorts of protection to crack. Far better not to have the full functionality in the trial version in the first place.

Umm . . . MS paint is not the pinnacle of graphics programming, Lightningraven. Have a look at Paint Shop Pro ( http://www.jasc.com/products/psp/ ) or Photoshop ( http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/main.html ) or the GIMP ( http://www.gimp.org/~tml/gimp/win32/downloads.html ) - they are all good programs used widely by skinners.

JavaBrain: Are you sure about that? Starting on startup seems to be a fairly vital thing - I understood the fact that it wasn't was a bug rather than an enticement to upgrade. After all, it doesn't occur on non-XP systems.

It's not updated yet to show the WC subscription - just write in what the money order ($19.95) is for and what email address the account is (and your name) and that should be OK, I think.
