I wasn't talking about a list of optimum sizes. It was more of a guideline. I forget who wrote it, I think it might have been the same guy who made the SkinBench program, but I don't remember. I lost all my old bookmarks so I'll have to go digging for it again. The whole thing was actually about making the skins faster, but there was a little bit of info on image sizes too.

hehe...if the only reward for skinning is the recognition I don't know why I even bother to skin at all! Honestly, I always thought the best part of it was the satisfaction I get by having my desktop and windows look how I want them too. I upload because, even though I made the skins for my own personal use, a few other people may enjoy tham as well. I also get good, constuctive criticism on my graphics technique which helps me to improve my ability to do better work in the future.

There isn't actually a default size, just remember that the smaller the better (as long as it's not too small). Mostly the size depends on the design. There is an article about optimizing skins for speed that goes into a little bit of detail about what sizes would be good. I don't remember where it was though. Anybody got as link to it still?

A lot of people now just want something a "little" different but can't seem to handle a major change. I used to love going way out there with the skins I made. But also, I needed something a little more functional for everyday use. Since more people are into slight changes rather than radical design the majority of skins have evolved into simple un-obtrusive designs. Although, I must admit, it's getting kind of boring. I miss those days.

the problem with having art rules in regards to moderating art/wallpapers is that it is all subjective. Therefore, what one moderator sees as bright and annoying or confusing may be absolutely beautiful to another. The only way to really cut down on complaints of "why aren't the moderators following their own rules" is to not post the rules. That, pr generalize them a little more. (I have not actually read the rules yet, so ignore me if I am way off base here)

I actually kind of like it when a topic drifts from one thing to another. If you've recieved an informative answer that works by post 2 or 3, I don't see anything wrong with talking about something else in the same thread. But I also see the point that some people do get frusterated by it. And if a question isn't answered before the topic drifts it is quite annoying. For those of us who like to see things twist and turn within a thread, if the person posting the original messag

Here's some of mine that are purple. Dusk has XP support but it was made before WB4 came out so it doesn't have the shell stuff in it. https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.asp?library=1&SkinID=2609 Shiver Doesn't have any XP stuff on it because I got it before I got XP, but at least it's purple *s*. https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.asp?library=1&SkinID=2108 Koasati made the Purple Annie ICQ skin and I ported it to windowblonds for him. It also doesn't have

My best friends were always the animals we kept. We practically had a zoo! Now we only have one bird, 3 dogs, 3 goldfish, and whatever bugs my daughter adopts. Still the best friends I ever had though. Except, of course, for Becca's bugs *s*. Treetog, no that's not crazy. I'm the same way with my goldfish. I have one that actually likes to have her stomach rubbed.

the better way would be to do a winstyles theme. Upload all the skins, wait for approval, then put together the winstyles theme and upload that. Just put in the description that the winstyles theme will be uploaded shortly.
