I'm writing this from the perspective of a frustrated PC gamer, so that's why I picked that category. So anyway, Logitech has graced us with a cute mouse with a touch pad instead of a mouse wheel. Seems to work fine, right up until you try to select a particular tool in Minecraft. The limitations of this device and the poor configurability are very clear there, as you frantically attempt to scroll to your sword and take out that creeper who's just spotted you

As it turned out I only managed a half-hour episode but I will pick it up today in a bit. :) Also thinking of a few little mod changes. For example, Neutrality Learning Centres. I'm going to shift them along the tech tree so that they become available after Discovery Spheres and upgrade those - which was already suggested, but I couldn't be sure if the AI would upgrade without having all the in-between buildings. Besides that, it is a major leap in research c

When you think about it, the reason why images aren't straightforward to compress is because there's a lot of pixels that are not the same colour. Higher levels of compression essentially negate the difference between colours that are almost the same, allowing more pixels to be shrunk down to x pixels of colour y. So for example, one way you could take advantage of that is to create a difference layer which tells you how the crappy compressed image is different to the or

That is true, however I would guess that many people who visit the modding section of the forum are looking for a particular mod anyway, so this way they don't have to scroll down at all. :D Edit: So yesterday I did three episodes of The Rise of the Zylons . I will try and do another few today.

So I decided that to have a little bit of fun I'm going to do a few Let's Play videos with the mod as time permits. Not so much an AAR as an over-the-shoulder look at me playing GC2 and screwing up hilariously somehow. The first episode, which runs at over an hour long, has been uploaded but it is still awaiting processing (grr). Feel free to leave some informal comments here or there. :) <p

Look under Steam\steamapps\common\Galactic Civilizations II - Ultimate Edition\Twilight\MetaverseData\English - there should be a copy of the original file in there. Failing that you can get Steam to 'Verify integrity of game cache' which will make it replace your changes with the original file.
Might you consider using a non broadcast format, record game-play, save it to a file, and upload to a viewing site (like youtube)? It s not a live broadcast over the web, but a vid recording people may view at their according to their own schedule.
Yeah. I did that today, tried it out, worked great. :)

Bonus production or research is whatever you get because of any percentage bonuses to Research or Production (from abilities or otherwise). It costs half as much as base production or research. So you can judge whether you have too many research buildings by turning the funding for research up to 100% and then multiply by 2 to figure out how much bonus research you're getting at maximum. Even if the AI players are doing more research than you, you can focus on just the
I remember you Marvinkosh I couldn't figure out how to get that mod to work. Some of us just need to be able to download and play a mod. I do understand not all mods are made that way. P also found it hard to download and install mods in general on Stardock. I could use a guide on how to install and make a mod for Galactic civilizations 3.
Well maybe I can put together a video tutorial or something. Using

Hi there. I kinda hope you haven't forgotten all about me, but I've been out of action for a while. Like many, I played Master of Orion II for hours in my youth. I found that MOO3 wasn't really my cup of tea, although I did make a sound mod for it, eliminiating some of the clunky noises. I loved GalCiv 1 and still fire it up every now and then, but GalCiv 2 outdid that and then some, in my opinion. Yes, I'm the guy behind the Space Weapons F

I think the Yor economy, for want of a better word, should improve as they increase their numbers and the footprint of structures across the galaxy. For flavour you could even give them a Distributed Stream Transactions or similar super project, allowing them to transfer and process vast quantities of information via stellar streams. Instant communication across the galaxy is nice, but being able to move exabytes of data across light-years i

There is still a huge difference between laptops and desktops. I like my desktop because it can work for games, I can use it for my writing projects or for working on images, and my screen is sitting at a nice comfortable height for any of those. Don't get me wrong, I love my netbook too, but that is mostly for web surfing, reading and writing when I'm away from home. And yeah, if I could have afforded it I would have gone for a model with a bit more power, but I c

I did actually fire up GalCiv 1 this year for funzies. I originally bought it because I was really disappointed by Master of Orion 3 and needed a good 4X to sink my teeth into. It has a retro charm to it now. :)

There isn't a particular section for this on the site, but I have noticed that while the post list loads relatively fast, the posts load incredibly slowly on my Samsung N-150 notebook (it's not a performance model but still). About the last thing to load onto the page, completely holding up the works, are the social media buttons at the top of the post. Then any stored-up PageDowns are processed. ;)

GalCiv III has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are are sorry about the Dread Lords escaping from a pocket universe (again) and hope that you find shelter somewhere underground while they destroy all life on the surface. We apologise for the inconvenience. - Check galactic cybernet for a solution and close the program. - Close the program. :)

See? Now we have names to put to those AI personalities. Including Drengin, because Drengin is a personality aaaall of its own. :) Hope you're doing well over the holidays Brad. You know, aside from compiling stuff just to see what happens, which is both fun and scary.

Thanks. I appreciate the support. Things have been looking up a little bit. I'm starting to feel normal again, although I haven't picked up my game of GalCiv for some time now. On the other hand there's a fresh new hell waiting for me in the new year so, I doubt I'm going to have time or the inclination to keep updating the mod. After two years on the work programme with not even a sniff of a job, the latest fad at the jobcentres is get

Hey guys. Sorry to say but I think this may be the end of the line. Even though I've been taking anti-depressants, my depression has found a way to surface with a vengeance. I don't want to play anything any more, and I certainly don't feel like doing any modding. Thanks for the support over the years. Bye.
