You can add production bonuses. Bonus production (anything over and above straight production from buildings/asteroids/colony tile) is charged at half the rate of normal production. Races which have a bonus effectively pay less per unit of production. However they still pay full price for the base production. One of the ways you can work around that is to have their factories give less straight production but a small percentage bonus to production which improves as t

It wouldn't. For example, to make life easier, Minecraft now runs an internal server when playing single-player. To be sure, there's an associated CPU load with running a server on the same machine as a client but honestly, a lot of ridiculous gamer rigs could do this effortlessly. The reason that EA didn't want to let you do this is so they can make more money by selling features and things to you the player. It's that simple. They're the F

Well they sort of do if you want any sort of multiplayer sanity. Otherwise someone could hack in forty nuclear power stations into a non-sandbox region for reals and ruin all the fun of creating a power infrastructure from scratch. That said, I'm not impressed with the sync performance. Send a gift of Simoleons to another town, chances are it will get eaten by the server. It's like Homer with a donut, it is.

I have to admit that I'm not thrilled about all the bugs, and I was hesitant about picking it up so soon after release. That said, played it non-stop since Tuesday. There are some improvements over SC4, like police/fire station/clinic coverage that make it worthwhile. There's the ability to turn services on and off at will instead of demolishing. High density cities are quite easy to make but they're actually challenging (for now anyway) to run. My last

Nah, it'll never happen. There's always going to be someone out there willing to develop games for the PC. As long as Microsoft doesn't stuff up Windows 9 for games we should be good.

There has been a trend lately in the UK for people to go onto Twitter and rant about subsidising all the spare rooms that benefit claimants are occupying. I don't know if that's trolling or whatever, but it's really bad form to go demonising the poor for being able to use Twitter, for having a spare room through no fault of their own, and so on and so on. And the UK government has basically created this rift between the people who work and the people who don't, h

I'm not sure if it's an answer to the original problem of 'too much automation' but here goes. You know what's missing in a big store? Cheerfulness. I mean really, the fact that you can walk in, pick out all your groceries, and check them out yourself at the express lane without having a conversation with anyone, that's just terrible. Sure, it's expedient, but you lose the personal touch. Not that there's much time for a chat w

It should have a solid base of technologies. Medium hull ships have more space and can pack in more stuff and thus require more maintenance and production time. So for example, on the Terran tech tree, I would hope that at least Xeno Trade Centres, Xeno Factories, and Research Academies would be available to the AI before it starts on Medium Hull Building.

Try this mod . I like to play long games and the mod is designed around around balancing the weapons, nerfing the Arnorian Ranger, nerfing the Super Dominator corvette, making defences capital-ship only for most of the game and generally pushing most of the races towards building military.

Political trolls are the worst. Especially on Twitter. For example, jumping on a bandwagon to say how against something you are, when you don't even live in said country any more and it says so in your profile? Totally trolling. :P

Try this: Yields Mod There is still the issue of having the odd weird tile yield but there's a fair emphasis on production and essence. I've upped the minimum total tile yield to 8 to avoid having oceans of lesser yield.

Multiplayer is notoriously buggy unless it's coded by someone who knows what they're doing. You don't want to start getting into a game with some friends and then get the dreaded out of sync error. Forget for the moment the actual market for multiplayer. That's something that can wax and wane depending on the alignment of the planets, never mind how good the multiplayer experience is. But if the multiplayer is enjoyable, you're guaranteed no end o

Well if you want a physical copy then you can still do that, just burn the game install folder to disc and then copy back when needed. You'll have to re-register it after doing so, though, and maybe re-create some registry entries. I know, 'cause I've done that. Of course I have not done that with a Steam version of the game so I dunno, you may not be able to do that. :(
Disagree. I think you would see trolling dry up in a hurry if the person's unsavory activities came up when ever you google searched their real name. Being an Internet asshole is all fun and games until it comes up on a job interview.
The downside is that a lot of people share the same name. But yeah, I do think that employers should be able to find out if you've been engaging in such behaviour. Who wants
