If you spot a colony ship of theres, you can see it's max range when you click on it. The AI does NOT cheat. Ever. Period. It plays the same exact game you do... The only differences are, on the lower end of the difficulty scale they have a penalized economy and also lack certain "strategies". (things like escorting transports and attacking weak parts of your empire, etc might be missed by a low AI) The higher end (after Intelligent) get

It's always going to be more effecient for you to design your own ships. Just think about all the variables that would go into making a stock version of 1 ship, if the SD crew made super versions? You have to take into account miniaturization...
If it takes too long to get into the action, you can increase the speed of research in the galaxy setup screen.
Generally speaking, yes.
Yes in the Foreign Relations screen you can look up the stats of your opponents, one of those stats will show you which direction they're leaning, or if they picked a direction already. As of 1.0D, however, you have to spend money into espionage to unlock those stats.
AFAIK, Stardock Central supports resuming of downloads... You pay for the shipping speed that you desire. 140mb to download the absolute essential game files, ~1.4GB to get everything including movies / tutorials, etc. The downloads are split up into 4 sections.
When your beam fires...his defense is: 1+2+3=6 When your mass driver fires: 1+4+3=8
Aye, Ive said it before but Ill say it again... The success you all are enjoying is well deserved and I appreciate all the efforts every one of you have put into this game to bring us to where we are now. Im so glad the community is backing up your strong efforts with a big showing on the financial side... One can only hope that there are other indie type development teams out there that will follow your lead and do things the Right Way... <img src=
Here's my first turn.... I generally play on Large, Huge, or Gigantic sized maps against Intelligent level AI. + Set research to the next engine tech. Speed kills in this game and it's even more crucial during the colony rush. + Design all new versions of colony, constructor, scout ships. SPEED KILLS. Colony ships are now at half capacity but twice as fast. Scouts have massive sensors. + Purchase a basic factory, queue up the fo
It's been reported in the past.
Refer to the following thread for more information about your food / population issues on low class planets. https://forums.galciv2.com/?ForumID=162&AID=101879 (look for my long post)
tadpollard, you can download the essential game files for 140mb. You can just hold off on the movies / tutorials...
Holy buhjeezus. Those 2 additions to the trade screen are huge. Thank you! Oh and for those familiar with the beta/gamma... you now have to pump some money into espionage in order to get access to the basic stats from the Foreign Relations -> Stats screen. (the ones that listed like
There are no such things as "pre-certified" metaverse maps. Every map is random. The tricky thing to the pre-canned races racial traits is that they are better than what you can do yourself, for the most part. ie, they technically use up more points than you get to distribute. So when you modify them, you cant just go back to the way it was in game. They did this to encourage you to play as the pre-canned races... vs always making a custom
Population vs Morale management is one of the top critical issues you deal with each game. If you can master that juggling act you can take full advantage of a booming economy to fund your war machine and dominate the galaxy. This is why morale resources are so critical compared to the other resources. If you can control a couple morale resources and
But there is no real reason to stay at 100% approval. 60% approval would be just as good.
ROFLMAO at the point blank comment.
You will see that from time to time...sometimes the AIs focus heavily on constructor production... The minor races will tend to piss you off too, since they dont colonize, all they do is hunt down resources. An annoyance I hope Brad will tend to at some point.
The Torians no longer have their uber sensor bonus... Brad said he took it out. *cry* You dont need Stellar Cartography, really... you know where the stars are at (minimap filter), so you know where the planets are at.
As I said in my previous post, you need espionage to access starbases and planets. You can get that ship intelligence report on turn 1 if you happen to have an enemy ship in your sensor range. Once you meet an AI, you can go into the foreign relations screen under the stats tab and look at all the stats you want. No espionage required there. The ONLY things espionage gets you, I outlined in my post above. There might also be some
I believe you can recieve intelligence reports if you are spying on him when he designs a new ship. Maybe there is a screen somewhere that gives some insight into his weapons and defense techs if you have a high enough espionage level? There is no such thing. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc
1) If by battle log you mean pulling up a little dialog per ship and getting a history of all the fights it has been apart of... no there is no such log. 2) Ships take time to repair themselves. 3) There are no penalties directly after a successful invasion, other than having a low population that could be subject to re-invasion if you dont defend it properly. Hope this helps. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T
In a recent game I had a transport that moved 34 parsecs per turn. MmMMmmMMmmm speedy.
The AI no longer automagically knows where the good planets are at... they know absolutely nothing about the map when you first start a game. They have to send scout ships out just like you do....
Its beautifully orgasmic I could not have said it better myself!
