Beefed up AI. Terror stars. Beefed up AI. More techs to research, more projects to build. More random events. Beefed up AI. Scenario/Map editing tools. Regenerating anomalies. Beefed up AI. More eyecandy for the ship designer. More random events, more UP topics. Ohh, and I think Brad might spend some more time on the AI. >

Griffin, your ethical choices have an impact!! If you're leaning "evil" and when it comes time to choose an alignment, it will cost you 10k bc to go Good... 2.5k to go Neutral, or stay evil for free. The bonuses you get are HUGE. Neutral parties will get an approval bonus. (HUGE HUGE HUGE) They also get a discount for purchasing ships, a bonus to soldiering when fighting non-neutral parties, and all planetary improvement tiles

Ring worlds? Planets with rings around them? If so, yes.... they add 10% to the planets research capabilities.
Yes you can stack weapons and defenses... infact, I dont see how you could get away WITHOUT doing it in the later stages of the game. Yes you could possibly have a supership with a Jack-of-all-trades-master-of-NONE approach to weapons and defense... but it is better to specialize, imo. The only thing that limits you is the size of the ship and how much "space" it has... (minituriz
i really don't understand what square root calculate. can anyone answer the question. and why should i round up or round down during combat??? Also just to add on to Kryo's post... all this is applicable when your ship has a defense rating of 0 / 9 / 0, and the attacker has an attack rating of 6 /
Yeah... I used to -love- the Torians for their huge sensor bonus... (Im a sensor freak!! I have more sensor ship designs than war ship designs, *heh*) But it was taken away in a recent update. *Cry*
You lil warmonger you.
I second this notion... wanted it in from day 1 of GC1, actually. Personally, Id like to see more involvement with the UP... Let me do some wheeling and dealing with the other races to "guide" them into the proper vote...
Just a heads up.... the "pre-canned" races each have a strong lineup of bonuses... something you cannot re-create with a custom race. The dev team did this to encourage the use of these "pre-canned" races over sticking with your custom race, so that you might enjoy all the "fluff" work (ie, dialog)... Just something to keep in mind.
Frogboy is just as anxious to get something like this implemented as we all are at having it.
I think the only improvement you get are increased health...with each level up? I could be wrong though. Still, you do notice the difference.
"Slightly off topic, I think I read this somewhere, but is it possible to create a ship with no sensors, engines, or range just to sit at a planet and guard it?" Yes, as far as I know (I think Brad posted something on that), it is possible. I can confirm this for you. It is possible to cr
That is why they are "non-optimal" defenses. You will be severely punished for not keeping an eye on your enemies weapons systems, so as to research the appropiate defenses and build fleets that can deal with them properly.
No, Amazon is not fulfilling pre-orders with the Collector's Edition.
Hell yes! Bring on the backstory! I'd really like to read more about the other "relationships", like Yor/Iconians, etc... and perhaps where the hell these Snathi came from. E-V-I-L rodents, they are.
Unless I set out to be 100% pure evil, I typically stick with the good choices... that is unless a super bonus pops up, like 20-40+% PQ, +starship, etc... (they're just too good (err, heh) to pass up)
The only issue I have with that approach is in the later stages of the game, if you're trying to trade for some IP, or money from a rich AI... the increments from using the mouse wheel take *forever* to adjust to the appropiate level... and dragging the slider with the mouse leaps too far ahead (ie, 0 -> 9k IP, when 3.4k might be the max they want to give up). If we had the ability to type in a number manually, it would make all the differen
Hmmm... Ive never had a planet that needed to be filled up on +morale buildings and still not come close to being at 100% approval. Though I do almost always play as the Populists for the morale/diplomacy bonus. Morale is king in this game.
I believe all the previous event bonuses/penalties remain in place. However the further along you are towards 1 side of the alignment tree, the heavier the cost is to switch. For example, I was playing a scenario today... the map was medium or so, with 9 AIs (plus the dreadlords !!) so there were only a few planets to colonize... so there were only a few events for me to "lean towards good"... before I could research Xeno Ethics there w
The Snathi have a more evil description than even the Drengin. (And they live up to it, too!)
I would like to see your choice of government type have a larger impact on the game other than it being Another Attribute... (ideas coming soon)
Cakewalk is exactly that. You'll not have any problems.
To get back on topic, if you've played GC1, the UP is basically the same deal. Ive not noticed any big difference between the two in terms of gameplay.
Actually, last word from Stardock was that GC1 was not going to be thrown away as an outdated version of the franchise. As far as I know they still plan on supporting both GC1 and GC2 with updates... though I wouldnt expect much in the way of content / big new feature addtions...
