For reasons unknown to me, sometimes logons just don't load as they should. Logon Studio is a couple of years old and unsupported by Stardock anymore. Most computers will work fine with it, but some don't. Glad my method worked for you!

I seem to have a problem with uploading too. "Your skin has failed to upload. When uploading a new skin, your Skin file must also be submitted." The filename is "Pacifico.logonxp" The preview is "Pacifico Logon Preview.jpg First time this has happened.

It sounds like RightClick messed up and deleted your configuration. Rightclick the square, click "Properties" and the RightClick menu editor should come up, with all of your menus gone, meaning you have to start from scratch. I've had it happen before, and now I keep a copy of the RightClick folder on my external drive, incase something like this happens. Then I can just overwrite the whole folder with my working configuration. I might be wrong, but that's what it s

That's how I started with logons, asking other people if I could use their wallpapers for a logon, and it's true, most people will say yes. I started with pretty basic Logon Studio logons, and asked some of the people here, and Deviant Art too,to use their wallpapers, and they said yes. And the more practice you get at making them, more people will let you use their walls until you learn how to make your own. It just takes time and learning. I suggest you stay with

No, there's no way to get rid of the white background. You can edit the uifile a bit to make the outline or border a little more or less, but the white will always be there. I'd love to make it transparent, and have tried, but it's part of the XP coding, and nothing you do in Logon Studio will change it.

Try this....download a logon, rename the file from logon.logonxp to logon.zip. Unzip the file and put the logon folder in C:\Program Files\Wincustomize\Logon Studio. Then open Logon Studio. The file should be in the list and should work fine. If it doesn't, you have other problems not related to Logon Studio..very possibly the Vista theme pack.

Very nice work for a first time! And as far as the ratings.....don't even look at them. I have skins rated at 3 stars that are my most downloaded, and some at 5 stars that don't have nearly as many downloads. The main thing is you are happy with what you upload and feel it's the best you can do. Make sure you are using bitmaps for all the images. You can't rename .jpgs or .gifs to .bmp. You have to open you image in Paint or whatever graphics program you're using and save it as a 24 bit .bmp. Renaming them won't work. Yeah, I just tried lots of different ways, and while 32 bit bmps work in logons with transparency, they don't seem to as you want to use it. I've never tried them as an icon, so I learned a bit too. Does it say somewhere that you can only use a bmp for the game, or are you guessing because the game crashes when you try a png or gif? I really don't have a clue, but good luck. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

skarnivorous, a normal 24 bit bmp does not have an alpha channel, but if you add one, you can get transparency. I use it in my logons because Logon Studio does not support transparency, unless you change the code in the uifile to use a 32 bit bmp, and adding an alpha channel will make it 32 bit. In the alpha channel, black will be totally transparent, white will be opaque, and in between will be various levels of trans. Sam, I'll take a look at your png and see what I can do.

RtlGina2.dll That was the file in the Linksys install that broke mine, and it's a known problem. Not on the primary computer with the router, but the secondary with the wireless adapter.

Sounds like a wireless adapter was recently installed, probably Linksys. I had the same problem. It's on my son's computer and he doesn't care about logons, so I just left it that way, but you might try Googling to find a fix.

Sphynx is a friend of mine, and he is the person that taught me how to make them for my logons, and then he put out that tut. It takes a bit of practice to do it right, but yes, it works. Just make sure you use Photoshop. Other graphics programs will not save in true 32 bit format.

You need to have Photoshop, and this tutorial explains how to make a 32 bit bmp: WWW Link It shows how to make a center "splash" for XP Logons, which require 32 bit bmps for transparency, but the technique would be the same for what you are trying to do.

You can try an uninstall/reinstall of Logon Studio, that may work...others have had the same problem. If you can't get it to export right, as a last resort you can .zip the logon folder and rename it from "Logonname.zip" to "Logonname.logonxp". A logon file is just a .zip file that has the extension changed to .logonxp.
