i've long been a proponent of re-populating anomolies. i'd really love it if they invested the effort needed to create an advanced setup screen for sandbox games that'd add a whole lot more options, and more refined ways to affect the things all ready there (star dispersion, for example). but hey it's not a make or break issue to me.

you could just make models for the AI to use that have no external hardpoints, but do have several hidden inside so their piles of parts dont get scattered all over the ship i assume you mean doing that in the ship designer itself, right? the .shipcfg files don't have relevant hardpoint info i can discern. if you were thinking about using your

wow! it just keeps getting better. i guess it was pretty easy to create those blank hull comps. i wonder what your feelings are/were about my ideas to renovate AI ship design & art, if you even had any. again, that was to reconfigure the AI ships so there was only a couple available hard points, and add hardpoints to the functional comps so they stack - hopefully resulting is automatically designed ships that aren't so ugly. right now i need to focus on finding a new job, but after th

I think all resources should be evenly distributed to all Civs. Also, all civs should have exactly the same attributes, just different portraits and names. heh, that's a lot farther than anything i had in mind. personally i'd hate identical races. i'm pretty sure you could level out their bonuses manually if you wanted in raceconfig.xml. their

actually, i'm having the same issue of not having other races hulls in the 'other' subtab. i put the bat in galciv2/data and ran it there, and also put it in mods/data and ran it there. niether worked. the other comps are showing up fine, as well as the blank hull sizes. new game. even restored all the backup files before installing it. maybe i misread some nuance of your readme; i did just mention i'm dyslexic. still, STOKED on no-art hardpoint extenders!

where does it say the devil is not omniscient? personally, i think the best insurance SD can do for a long lived game is options. options options options. i think they might all ready think that, too. what do you think the point was of creating such an easily modable game?

It is folks like me that truely appreciate the things that talented folks like Kryo do to enhance our gaming experience. It is just too bad that graphical mods won't be accepted in the metaverse due to the fact that it might be too much for someone's machine or increased load times ditto on the props to kyro. personally, i don't play metaverse

such items would be a pain to manipulate--you'd have to select them in the parts list, since there'd be nothing to click on in the viewport less so if the ship designer UI worked a bit different - you right click a comp in the list to remove it, and it jumps back to the beginning of the list. that ship above had 3.5 pages of comps, and that's o

About resource placement: Yes, it is unfair and random. But is that any different from the real world? I wouldn't think that evenly distributed resources would be very fun. It would mean that everyone got some, and you wouldn't have to fight for them. you know, in hindsight i agree with you. the games where the resources were unbalanced have ac

i got carried away, so i'm moving the conclusion of this post to the front: anyway, i still vote to include the "hard-point only hulls" aspect of Kyro's mod. heck, maybe just write them in as a 4th hull option, rather than eliminating or making as-jewelry the hull comps you all ready have. anyone designing super-elaborate ships is probably all ready running into polygon count issues, so i don't see it having a hugely negative affect on the group of players just designing basic ships w

Note to self, never mention any expansion pack details until we're ready to release the whole announcement since people will read in all kinds of things. that's about where i stopped reading. you're funny, brad, and right of course. when i voted in the poll, i voted for the thalans because i assumed two races would be gone from the g

yep. you can also adjust that file for custom resolutions, such as portrait for widescreen monitors, or extra large resolutions for multiple monitors. welcome to stardock's wonderful world of nearly-complete customizability.

oh yeah, the whole point of my post. i've also noticed that at times, the AI seems to just destroy its own mining bases. its not at war with anyone, but suddenly there's an available resource (i notice this again because i keep structors stationed near most of the resources). the only explanation i can find is that the AI is scrapping them for some reason. i sometimes scrap other bases when i don't need them anymore or when i want to build a new one for less money, but never a mining

one of the strategies I use to gain an edge is to station constructors near all the mining resources in my range. even if i didn't manage to grab them, the AI players go to war often enough that I can usually grab up a lot of the resources by mid game. i could use this chance to politely gripe about how the AI would do better if it defended its bases more strongly. i think i'd rather use this as a chance to review the entire aspect of the game. but that's just me. i always have idea

i've seen the drengin to this is a sandbox game. they build a massive fleet of 0/0 ships, and start putting money into the treasury. when the arceans and their beam weapons rolled in, they upgraded all their ships to rather frightening missile/shield ships, and their military power skyrocketed in a few turns. this was on crippling. in a few short turns, they managed to tear down the arcean military advantage (they had like 3 military resources, which i quickly grabbed up).

the AI also uses starbases to extend its range. if you go to war with a given empire, you can often cripple it by attacking its undefended starbases. and i really don't understand why economy bases would be causes you issues, or even their undeveloped influences bases for that matter. a couple levels of cultural conquest, or heck a farm on your planets should be more than enough to override their influence. what you should be playing closer attaention to is if your planets have a revo

game was running great for quite some time on a gigantic map. totally freezed up on the animated screen after discovering a new tech. had media player on in the background. ctrl+alt+delete didn't do anything, so i hit the power button. media player stopped. i hit enter, caught a glipse of a windows dialouge that was up, and the computer shut down. You guys rock for un hardcoding the star colors for the modders thank you. (was getting tired of all yellow planets.) BTW are you sure having two yellows one star yellow one sol yellow isn't whats causing that? i remember reading at some point that having only yellow stars for habitable planets was their intention (except in the case of purple
