If you haven't already, please try starting a new game when using the new build. If you load an existing game, you may not get the performance improvements in the new build. When you say it is slow whenever ships are on screen, does this include the game setup screens as well?

Please post your debug.err fille. This file is located in /my documents/my games/gc2darkavatar for vista machines. Just open the file with notepad, and copy/paste the contents in a post here. You could also install our free program called SmartException. This program will give us a detailed report of where the crash occurred in the program. You can find this program in the "Free Stuff" section of Stardock Central. For more information on Smart Exception,
I sent a debug.err to gc2bugs a few hours ago, it's been given a case ID of 37755. Thanks, I will take a look for that.
Also, in case you haven't tried: 1. Verify that you have the most up-to-date driver for your video card. 2. Try reinstalling the game to make sure no files have been corrupted.
Please post your debug.err file at this thread: https://forums.galciv2.com/?forumid=421&aid=152947#1213554 Thanks.
Marvin, have you tried reinstalling the game?
Marvin, thanks for trying that. Could you please post your debug.err file? The file is located at c:/program files/stardock/totalgaming/galciv2/darkavatar/ Thanks.
A question about the gfx problem: Does disabling ship textures fix the problem, complicate it, or no change?
Please send (or post) your debug.err files. I have been unable to reproduce the problem, even loading saved games that have reported the problem. The debug.err files will provide me with a lot of information useful in reproducing and fixing the problem. Thanks.
Also, for anyone experiencing the gfx issues, please make sure you do have the latest version of your video drivers.
Formis, You can send any bug-related information to [email protected] . I replied to your packet of images, so if you want to reply to that message, that would be fine. If a saved game reproduces it, please send the game zipped with your debug.err file. That would really help me out. Thanks.
If you notice some skewing of the graphics, please send a zipped saved game, debug.err file, and/or screenshot to [email protected] . It is probably due to the changes in the graphics system rather than a heat issue. It could be certain hulls and/or ship designs that have the problem. Sending in problematic games would help us to narrow it down. Formis, if you wouldn't mind. I have a few questions for you (and a
I have only noticed 1 bug so far in the beta. Whenever I stack multiple ships on 1 tile, they all disappear. I can still select them and when I move a ship I can see it again. I can also see fleets but not fleets with other fleets or single ships stacked on them. Anyone else had this happen? If this is happening, please send in a zipped saved game to [email protected] .
Tototot, Thank you for posting those files. However, I will also need the .shipcfg files to be able to use these ships. OR... It may be easier to just save a game with the ships in it, and zip the save file. That one saved game file will include everything I need to be able to see and use your ships.
Tototot, if you think it might be certain jewelry, can you send us a saved game with a ship that doesnt cause slowdown and a ship that does, so we can compare the two? Just zip your save and send it to [email protected] . Thanks in advance.
bonscott (and anyone else who might have a saved game that demonstrates this), If you have the saved game before the battle, please zip and send your saved game to [email protected] . Put ATTN: CodeCritter in the subject line. Please give a brief explanation of which ships to watch and I will take a look at the internals of the game to find out what is going on. Thank you.
In both GC2 and DL , the ships are lit by only one light source. If you turn the specular intensity down, it doesn't save any calculations, it just changes the value used in the equation, so I don't think that is causing a slowdown. jstarz01, can you think of any other settings you may have changed that helped improve the performance? I have been working on some improvements to make the game run smoother. In the meantime, turning off bump mapping will sav
The defense issue has been addressed for the next update. This is how it will work When a weapon is fired, the defending ship's defense in that category is decreased by the attack roll until the defense in that category is depleted. Once the defending's ships primary defense against that weapon is depleted (or the ship did not even have that defense type), further attacks of that weapon type will decrease the defenses in the next highest defense category until that is
Actually, the stronger ship is deemed the winner if both go down to 0 hp. If they have the same toughness then the tie goes to the attacker. If you are experiencing ships getting their hp fully restored, that is a bug. If you have any saved games that can reproduce this, it would help us greatly if you could zip them and send them to [email protected] . Please provide a brief description of how to
I found the source of the problem. Thank you for reporting it. It will be fixed in the next update.
The treaty gives you 10% of the civ's research spending. The value showed on the Research screen for Research Treaties is the amount of the research spending you are receiving. Is this 0 bc? Or are you saying that it has a value listed there, but it doesn't appear to get added in? Can you provide a saved game that shows the problem? If these treaties are not working correctly we DO care, and want to fix it. If you do have a saved game (that would be the quic
I cannot reproduce this problem. I have not seen a ship after being put in orbit get its moves restored (unless you end the turn). For clarification: Placing a ship in orbit does not cost a move. Neither does launching the ship. So if you have a ship with 4/5 moves, place it in the planet, and then launch it, it will still have 4/5 moves. Murrdox's example is working as intended. If you are observing any behavior other than this (like the ship being res
Styg Ian, Your video drivers are dated Aug 2006. Please check ATI.com to get an updated driver for your video card. If that does not fix your problem, please let us know.
Kyro is right. If boths sides kill each other, the stronger one survives with 1 hp. If you are seeing the hit points restored, that is a problem. If you have a saved game before the battle, please zip it and email it to [email protected]. Please provide a link to this forum thread in your email message. That will help us to get to the source of the problem faster if the situation is already set up. lepidosteus, If you see a ship about to upgrade its level
Please post your debug.err files. Thank you. This file can be found in c:\program files\stardock\totalgaming\galciv2\darkavatar You may also want to try reinstalling the game since it sounds like you may be missing model files.
