There are many progs you can't go wrong with dvdfab hd decrypter which scrofulous has suggested is good up to a point,it's free to rip,the rest of the functions are free for i think 30 days,Anydvd along with clonedvd & clonecd from slysoft never miss a beat,then we have nero recode tho it can't rip copy protections it is an excellant app to have in your arsenal,ok as for free programs well dvd fab as stated,dvd shrink which is the pre cursor to nero recode before nero got the developer to

Reformat & start again this time use an imaging program (listed below),create the first image after OS install,then another with a few of your most used apps,then another after a fully patched OS then add the rest of the 3rd party software starting from the most used to the least,obviously you won't want to so create one now actually make that two one time images,the time it takes to reformat & install the OS if you have an image you will have a fully operational updated OS ready to g

XP has it's own backward compatibility mode to run older games as tho you were using 95,98 etc,right click on the .exe select properties,navigate to compatibility,choose win 95,98 or whatever ?
Check your archive it should be there assuming you archive & don't over write

I have two background folders one is in my docs which i assume was created by 1.90 i now have another which has been placed in a different partition (to save space in c) which has folders inside it so i assume it was created by 2.0,can't bloody remember how i managed to get that folder there.lol..however it seems my slider docks still work & they are in the docs back ground folder so not sure why there'd be two back ground folders,did you unzip the back ground first before placing in back

If it still won't install delete all .NET Framework (you may have to enable show all updates),then reboot do a registry clean with something like ccleaner ,then head to ms updates & re download .NET,I had an issue with xp a few weeks back where impulse refused to install,doing the afore mentioned fixed it

Macrium reflect is free would pay to create a couple of back up images,no i'm not saying the hdd is shot it could be anything even a loose connected wire,attempting to locate a problem that only occurs now & then is yeah wellll ,unless there's a log somewhere
Another reason to have impulse was stated last year,every piece of software that is a .exe has it's own installer that means you put more junk on the computer every time you install a program as any decent software will come with an installer (apart from safe software that run in their own folder),so doing away with stand alone installers & using impulse means only needing 1 installer not many,also makes updating less of a pain in the butt,as popups etc from impulse has nobody ever realiz
Perhaps Ram try one then the other graphics card-remove add on card & use onboard Would it still happen if using ubuntu as live cd bypassing the hdd etc
