According to the manual mitigation also works when the shields are down! damage to the hulls is STILL mitigated by shield mitigation. This means there is absolutely no mitigation benefit unless it specifically bypasses mitigation and doesn't say so. The only instance where I can think will be useful is when fighting an enemy capital ship with superior forces and it keeps on escaping. It takes the exact same time to kill the opponent regardless of shield bypass, but if
Lots of valid reasons for this... I'd love to know a valid reason for stealing something unessential for one's survival like gaming software.
Because its non essential... that is, if you didn't pirate it you wouldn't have bought it either... And copy protection that leaves a bad taste in your mouth doesn't make you want to buy a game... Also I have NEVER seen a copy protection that hasn't b
slower and more expensive, but more powerful... it doesn't make the game slower because the capital ships now kill stuff a lot faster... they just take longer to build. Actually overall games should go faster since I honestly rarely loose a cap ship. And now there will actually be a reason to build multiple capital ship factories... to build them in parallel... That being said, I will stick with the unmodded for a little bit longer...
but it also occurs with other ships. The capital ships were just one example... Every time you purchase more then one level in logistics (either capital or regular) you will have a case where no ships are buiit until ALL queued logistics research is finished, instead of building up to the current cap each time a level of logistics is aquired. I find it very VERY common... Its really inexpensive to upgrade capital ships from level 3 to level 5... and 4 capital ships only cost 12,000
the fact that searching is easy doesn't mean you don't have to actually do the searching... And in an a heated battle involving multiple capital ships... or if you have several concurrent battles involving capital ships, its a bit hard to star zooming from battle to battle to upgrade your ships as they level. Queuing will make it easier. Its not a major issue, but it is a small improvement that can be done.
still a bug, and if you forgot to work around it during an intense battle it can actually influence the course of the war... Unlikely, but possible.
If you maxed out 3 of the 4 possible upgrades then your level 7,8, or 9 capital ship has only ONE possible upgrade path. It should automatically "select" that upgrade as soon as the ship levels regardless if you have auto-level enabled or not (since there is no user choice, its just a matter of "the faster you click it, the faster it becomes more powerful". And this goes against the whole paradigm of the game where its about strategy, not who clicks the fastest. This is a prett
That would make upgrading them a lot easier, and wouldn't require me to hunt for the one who just leveled in a large fleet to give it a new power... Or leave a battle to go give new powers to a defending fleet. This is especially useful with passive powers, which will begin increasing the ship's power the second it is leveled... This goes back to the whole "superior strategy" rather then "who clicks the fastest"...
It will be great if there was an interface option to automatically begin building squadrons as soon as they become available, with the option to turn off the automation and manually select squad composition. Ideally it will be possible to select a default construction order out of the following: 1. Always bomber 2. Always fighter 3. half and half, start with random 4. half and half, star with bomber 5. half and half, star with fighter. This will make all carries much
I have yet to narrow down the exact feature that triggers this phenomenon. But I disabled ALL the "effects" and turned off anti aliasing (completely) and I haven't had a single crash since... Occasionally I will get flickering of the menu for a few seconds (which used to predate a crash before..) But it will go away after a second or two at most and the game continues fine... I will fiddle with the options, turning on one feature at a time until I find out which one it

which of my many ideas is the "that" that was in the beta and taken out?
I have noticed that if I queue up multiple upgrades to logistics and then queue multiple ships (say, 5 capital ships) it will not begin building ANY until the amount of current logistics and captains zero out. Example: I have 4 capital ships. My research allows 4 capital ships and more then enough regular logistics. I queue research for two upgrades to the capital ships captain amount, one from 4 to 6, and the second from 6 to 8. I then queue 4 shiny new capital ships in my
Some of my suggestion make more sense if you realize I didn't know you could phase from one star to the next. I thought you could only phase between planets, and need wormholes to go to other stars.
here are somethings i like to see in this patch or future patches 1.Binary Sun and dead planets would adds more feel to the game not every system has one star or that every planet is alive 2.space station for the gas giants and maybe asteroid fields but im not sure that the asteroid field would work like who would build a space station in a asteroid field <img id="ImageResize_Image_12" onload="ImageResizer.createOn(this);" src="http://images.s
oh, I haven't even tried that. Typically maximizing a windowed game causes it to switch to full screen mode... I wonder if I will continue to have crashes in window mode...
I seriously doubt this has anything to do with it. My drivers aren't corrupted, this is a specific issue with only this one game, in another thread a developer actually said that they have an open ticket with nvidia about solving this, so its a known bug. Also do not use driver clearner pro... it was last updated in 2005. I have seen it do a lot of damage with newer drivers (it can't handle ATI's new CCC control center that is .net based). I heard good things about driver s
1. I wish to set the window mode size to be 1920x1200 (my native resolution). 2. Ideally also have it placed such that the game part is centered and the "window" surrounding it is clipped by the monitor. That way it LOOKS like fullscreen, but the game is actually running in window mode (Allowing me to alt-tab easily and quickly back and forth)... But I can center it myself every time it runs if I could only get it to make a larger window (1920x1200 pixels to be exact) 3. Al
This isn't a new game, its just a few small improvments to this one... Getting all of this sounds more like an expansion then a free patch. But why not? Expansions are always good! :P A few of the ideas here ARE simple and easy to implement though, and wouldn't take too much effort. The key here is that the engine is already there, there is an engine that supports many stars, each with dozens of planets... right now it is fairly limited to playing with one, maybe two o
I would also like to know what it means when it says the mass of ships is reduced in the highest level armor upgrades... all the other upgrades just increase armor, highest level increases armor and decreases mass... but what IS mass? does that mean the ship moves faster? turns faster? warps faster? costs less to build? be more specific here...
same issue here... now I normally preach to people that this sort of crash is usually a hardware issue, as it is caused by your video card crashing (and instead of it freezing the system like on XP, vista terminates the graphics driver and power cycles the video card, you can hear the fan stopping and starting again on the video card if you listen closely when its caused by a hardware issue, like heating.. I don't know if it does the same when its a software issue though). This CAN howe

Theoretically the game can support hundreds of stars (with dozens of planetoids per star). But it becomes impractical to manage such an empire. But it could be... if you had a few simple options. If, once a star has been conquered, selecting its sun should bring a "system" menu that allows you to do a few cools things. Like set an AI to auto upgrade / colonize / patrol / build / defend all the contents of the system. Or to manually select options such as "Upgrade all planets
1. PJI should work alittle like phase tunnelers. they should: a. Cover the whole planet b. Completely block jumping from a system with a PJI to another system that ALSO has a PJI. c. If the destination/origin does NOT have a PJI then it should only add 30% or so to travel time to a from a system by enemy fleets. 2. The amount of ships should be somehow related to the amount of colonies / planets / population you have. Ideally population controlled. And it sho
mmm... I noticed that when I researched it all my things spawned ships at once.. giving me -100 fleet support. they should max out at your support amount. Anyways, this isn't so much me wanting to know as me reporting a bug that should be fixed. It should say what it gives you, like every other tech in the game.
