I preordered twilight of arnor quite a while ago.. now that the beta is available it will not let me install it, asking me to purchase it. SDC has an option where it sends you all the serials for all the items you purchased. I used it and it specifically shows twilight as a purchased item and gave me my serial for it...

My solution to this has been to set the game to NOT save ship designs between games... They aren't useful anyways due to differing tech pathes. While it is a shame to loose a beutiful base design, i just don't care anymore. This technique bypasses all the bugs... And when I do design a new ship i just slap stuff on the basic hull instead or use one of the provided templates.
This is really simple. Why not make a checkbox for "max habitable planets cap"/"max ram useage at 2GB" in the game options... People with older weaker computers could use that. People with top of the line machines will turn it off... There is absolutely no reason to artificially reduce the max settings for everyone because some people's machines can't handle it. There is also no reason to get so hostile against SD for making those changes... those features do benefit most users
last game I had 50... and I stopped at that number because it was too much to handle...
no, galciv2v2 would be galciv4!
why build SMALL survey ships? the best survey ships are ones with hauler hulls + survey module + tons of engines and range... Yes they have 1 HP... but they are unarmed anyways, you pay less for the hull... and they get more engines and range...
This is an idea that comes from civilization. You could set workers to begin automated whenever they are built. This will be a very useful feature to have in galciv aswell... Except seperated into the various workers you can have that is... So you could choose to have miners or suveyors begin automated. Also it will be nice if pressing A made miners automate just like it does survey ships...
balance balance balance ... pah! You don't need perfect balance between factions for a multiplayer game to be FUN. If this was a multiplayer game, no matter how unbalanced, it will still kick ass! You think a civ is underpowered? don't pick it! A few people will pick it either because they enjoy the coolness of that civ despite its weakness, or they have specialized strategies for them... So yes... an average game will have three human players playing the same race (not always, just usua
using the green thumb ability (+10% to planet quality) HW is 11 PQ planet: 7 Factories 1 Farm 1 Starport 1 Happiness I go with the 1% military, 99% social, and 0% science with all planets later "focusing" on science. And I buy a factory a turn on the home planet to get it up and running. While expensive for the first few factories, it costs less ten 50 credits for the last few since they are mostly built (2 turns to build, but after turn one it is
Bad bad idea. 1. As someone said, too many fakey limits. Sneak attacks are a valid strategy, they happen. Making them impossible due to a broken game mechanic is not fun. 2. Suspension of disbelief is crucial to games. Most people don't want to be constantly slapped in the face with "this is only a game" reminders. There is absolutely no reason why suddenly wormholes would appear and teleport all your ships hundreds of parsecs, and this ruins any kind of immersion you have goin
The AI does that all the time. Their defenders are extra tough because they have no engines whatsoever. Only weapons (at least on tiny map at low tech they do). I sometimes use designs with no engines. Or with one engine. But it all depends on the map. My favorite strategy is to have eyes of the universe and give my ships 1 weapon and all engines. They can see 15 sectors and travel 10-30 a turn (depending on tech and size of ship). Then its just a matter of sniping undefended targets. (
+ NEW: Added code to delete multiple ships at once from the maintenance tab + NEW: Added code to put auto-survey ship on standby if it can't find any more anomalies - if this works out, I'll see about adding it for space miners too. Thank you so very much... Great improvement towards saving our worn out clicking fingers. BTW, any plans on making miners and surveyors NOT automatically know where all the asteroids/anomalies are? They sho
3. Could we get a auto-survey standby mode? In this standby mode, if any new anomalies become available, the ship will wake up and switch to auto-survey mode. Seconded... And I have been asking for that for miners too. This would be one of the greatest reductions in micromanagements The survey mode standby would also help when you run out of anom
On large maps with huge fleets of miners it gets really cumbersome if you run out of asteroids to improve before getting the next mining tech. This can lead to A LOT of clicking through notifications about a miner having its auto function disabled. In fact, it would be nice if they just moved close to an asteroid belt (or skipped a turn) when there was nothing to improve, rather then shutting down auto and nagging you. The option to have it work that way (selected through the game optio
The description is pretty self explanatory, the espionage spending does not stop when you go below -500BC. So if you bring in 2000BC a turn, and spend 1600BC on maintenance and the max (25% aka 500BC) on espionage then you will continue loosing 100BC a turn despite being at 0% economical spending and having less then -500BC in treasury.
I dont get the option to. I finish a level, I get the screen where it writes how the story ended. And then it loads the next level and crashes within seconds of loading it. I CAN however just go to "resume campaign" and play the next mission that way. In fact I just finished the campaign, with it crashing after every single mission.
Well, on EVERY campaign game that I finish on ANY computer, running nVidia or AMD it always does that. Only difference is that nVidia always terminates the game. While AMD either manages to restart the video card and resume or crashes the computer completely. Anyways, how would they know which bug it is related to if I just send the exception over?

my darkavatar folder does not have a debug.err file Oddly enough, I ran the game with winamp running in the background and the game did NOT crash... I tried doing it again and this time crashed in a far more extreme manner (ie, artifacts, corrupts, system not response for a while, eventually windows terminated the program and told me it crashed). But at least its something different... I also have a smartexception report (for a regular crash and that crash with winamp)... but I
My debug.err file is dated from 07/30/2007. Seeing as it just crashed on me and its 08/26/2007 I can safely assume that it is NOT referring to this crash.
Every time a finish a dark avatar campaign mission on ANY of my computers it will always crash the video card within a few seconds of displaying the "debriefing" screen. On my AMD X2 3800+ running Vista64bit with a GeForce 7900OC and the 163.44 beta drivers it will always result in the game crashing and a yellow triangle warning on the side telling me that the video card crashed. On my AMD Athlon 2500+ running winXP 32bit with a Radeon 9800PRO it will have a 50% chance of the c
When I upgrade a ship design and give it a name that WAS in use in a previous game it will botch the ship, giving it extra components, different hull, etc etc. To be clear, it happens, If I take my "surveyor 001" ship. upgrade it, and save it as "surveyor 002" where I did NOT have a surveyor 002 in my ship list. But I did have a surveyor 002 in a previous game.
And even if you DID survive the spores, and the shortages of food and what have you not... You are now faced with a conquering army which landed immediately after and took over the colony. The few survivors would go undercover or get caught and killed, either way the colony is theirs now. From playing against the dread lords and winning, the way to deal with such an enemy is to research heavily into engines, and get eyes of the universe. With 15 view you can see anything comming, and a
bump... no response? I just upgraded to vista from XP64bit and again I have to redownload everything, even though I still have ALL the files on my "D:\Games" directory. (into which I am reinstalling the games). It will save me alot of bandwidth and you alot of time to check the installation directory for an existing installation first. And no, archiving is not practical. It takes too much time and too much space.
I dont think this bug was ever fixed, but I have reported it long long ago... But if you mix orbital terraformers with racial bonuses to PQ you get bad results. The OT will give you the PQ of a race with no bonuses, while terraforming it by building tiles would give you the bonuses.
