I always RUSH to get industrial sector. I get it early and micromanage their construction, and then I don't have to worry about it hitting me unprepared. When you only have 10 or so planets but already got industrial sector it works out pretty well. Unless I play on slowest research with a small map.

Honestly, I build 1 farm and 1 rec building on each planet. Firstly. With a meager 6B people you are easily conquered by a SINGLE transport ship (assuming 1000 per transport). Secondly, you can launch a transport from almost any planet, and you get more money without TOO much micromanagement (since you just get used to plopping one of those on every planet...)
I am almost certain that the original poster is using sarcasm... heavily. I think he is making fun of people who take wikipedia as facts. From my experience with wikipedia, its fairly accurate on scientific fields. And completely misleading on anything to do with history or politics. So you can enjoy reading there about suboherric dermatitis or the life cycle of penguins. But don't even bother reading about any war, country, or political person.
mmm, nice. So sacrifice a little HDD space for better performance... and amazingly enough, this comes out THIS long after the game was first released. Kudos to the galciv team
A new component appeared on stardock, called heightmaps. What exactly IS it?
Before I go into a point by point rebuttals. This is a question of "are macs loosing their graphics edge". I think ADOBE thinks they are, since their new programs are windows only. They question is would macs "Always rule the design field" like some people say, or would they not. Many suggest that nowadays mac no longer have an inherent benefit over a PC when it comes to design work. So lets see if that is true by looking at the various points that make a mac "better" for design then windows PC.
You can't even EAT FOOD if its not your level. WOW never had a soul, and never will have one, just like any other MMO. MMOs are not games, they are psychological traps based on serious experimentations that is meant to trap you into spending times doing something thats not fun, so that the more time you spend, the more you feel you have invested, and they less likely you are to STOP. The reason they make it so that it takes 8 hours a day to compete is so that you would PLAY 8 hours a da
Do all tokens expire or is this some specific situation (maybe involving free tokens or some such). If all tokens expire, how long do they last before I have to worry about that?
thanks a bunch. Now I can install those games . It would also probably be a good idea to make it automatically use something like "D:\temp" or "E:\temp" if there is insufficient space on the drive its on, to avoid frustrating non technical users.
There is nothing in macs that give them an advantage over a PC when doing graphics anymore. In the past they had special processors which made it cost effective to buy a mac for design. But now its just a PC in a pretty case and with an extra 1000$ to the price tag. I worked at a place where the boss exclusively bought macs for all the video editing, simply because he THOUGHT that "everyone uses macs for design because they are better at it". He had no idea how things worked, s
well, as amusing as that was, yes they ruled the graphics editing field. I am wondering if this is changing though since Adobe now makes new products that are windows exclusive (MACs ARE a brand of PC, they don't have special hardware anymore, and PCs can have linux/other os' then windows). It could just be adobe, and that they will go back to macs, but who knows.
My OS drive is small, it simply does not, and CAN NOT have enough space to install some games that I have purchased. This is a pain because I don't want to install it there to begin with. I am trying to install a game into drive D, which has plenty of space. But the installation fails due to lack of space on drive C. Is there any way to make SDC use another drive as a temp dir?
I would never want it to scan my harddrive But I actually SAID how it can be done without scanning my harddrive... Check only the directory into which I INSTALL. For example: If I tell it to install GalCiv2 into "D:\Games\GalCiv2" It could look in there and see that the entire game is already there, and all it needs is the registry entries... thats 1.08GB that I wouldn't have to redownl
I noticed that in the latest version of adobe bundles, the CS3. In the master edition. There are 2 new programs that are ONLY available for windows, and not for a mac. So what does that say about the direction the content creation software companies are taking? is this the beginning of a trend? will windows soon rule graphic editing instead of mac?
If you haven't heard of maddox, he has a website that claims to be the best website in the universe, where he writes funny articles. After the recent Apple conference, Mac fans were elated. One person was quoted as saying "I've had a Macintosh now for a total of 35 days, and I'm really excited to be part of the Mac community." Part of the Mac community? It's a computer, not a social movement, asshole! I feel like Apple is not just selling computers, they're se
The problems with vista stems from the completely lack of backwards compatibility. And the fact that its basically a means to push more DRM on users. But people will have to upgrade. For one thing, 64bit is here to stay, and while almost no one makes drivers for winxp 64, everything does for vista. Most vista sells will be bundling with new computers, just like all other MS OS'. Current computers are just not powerful enough to run vista COMFORTABLY. that is, the performance hi
ofcourse thats a bug. What a retarded notion. You can set it to on or off in the skirmish. But in the campaign you cannot. However the campaign would be influenced by the last skirmish you fought, using the same setting as it. So you could alternate between having it allowed and disallowed in the campaign based on the skirmishes you make, without the ability to set it in the campaign itself. To claim such a thing is a "feature" is extremely obnoxious.
You know, I have all my computers with partitioned/multiple harddrives so that the OS is the only thing on drive C. That means that if I reformat (which I do often) all the files remain. Such as my games directories. It will make alot of sense for SDC to check the existing files in the directory you tell it to install into before it redownloads the whole game only. The more games you have, the longer it can take to reinstall them all, and its quite a waste of bandwidth. It will
Oh stop your whining... I bought the game a two weeks ago (unlike you who bought it last year... and for 2 tokens) and then I bought the preorder upgrade a week later. For 1 token! This isn't some super expensive upgrade here. 15$ or 1 token is quite cheap actually. Did the game have some unimplemented features? yes, so do most games, at least it wasn't an early beta thats unplayable due to bugs like temple of elemental evil / neverwinternights 2 / Titan Quest / etc; and it was
thanks
I bought tokens some time ago, back when my email was @comcast.net. Since the comcast in my area merged with time warner and that email is no longer in use. I changed my email to @gmail.com. However, the last two times I bought something with tokens the email on my account changed back to @comcast.net and had to be changed again to my new email (and VERIFIED again). This was also a problem because the old email is no longer in service and cannot receive anything. Spec
it will also allow the demo to include the latest version files more easily, showing people any new features / bugfixes that might increase their chances of buying stuff... Great idea really... And if it could simply upgrade the demo to the full version by downloading additional / different files you could also save bandwidth and time... this is a great GREAT idea that has been suggested before, I am glad its going to be done.

Oftentimes methods like tidal distruption, mass drivers, core detonation, etc are used from orbit before the attack commences. Those are supposed to have devastating effects on the planet, destroying almost all the improvements, damaging its quality, and reducing the advantage of the defenders by alot. However those things ONLY take effect if you CONQUER the planet. If you blast the planet with asteroids massive damage is taken if you win, but none if you loose? A much more
Actually I think it should neither stay as a civ capital, nor degenerate into an initial colony. Instead it should be a "well established colony" or some such. Basically the reasons you have bonii in the civ capital to because: 1. As the capital, most of your race's economy is based there. 2. As the homeworld, it has VERY heavy infrustructure. Conquering a planet could degrade the infrustructure, and it not being the capital anymore should degrade things further. But much of the
