My settings are Gigantic with only military victory and no surrenders allowed, everything set to common in loose clusters. Tech rate: normal; minor races: 3; opponents: 9 and random; tech trading allowed. Auto saves set for every 6 turns. AI set to suicidal. Let it rip, cyberj, and let me know what you find out. I would hate to think it is my drivers. My vid drivers are fairly up to date, but I can't update my sound card beyond what's available from the manufacturer and that's already a co

Well, with the new DA Beta2B, I'm not having crashes from autosaves anymore. However, I still get CTDs after a certain point. Do a quicksave, and a turn or two later it crashes when I hit the TURN button. Load the game, and it happens again at the same exact point. I then have to go to one of the autosaves and load from there....only to have it happen again maybe 10 turns in. It's getting to be quite frustrating playing on Gigantic. Not sure if this happens on smaller maps, but something i
Okay, it's official. It took 7.5 minutes to load a mid-point DA beta2B game when first loading the game. Two minutes to load a saved game once in the middle of a game. Anyone want to contribute to the Help-Jon-Get-a-New-Notebook fund? Donations accepted via paypal.
I haven't noticed that yet. What difficulty were you playing at? There was a bug in DL a while back where certain AI's intelligence were way below the average set. I've noticed some of those old bugs have crept back in to DA, maybe that could be it. I have noticed in the logs that one of my minor races keeps encountering an error: they can't build any more ships (freighter) because they've run out of room in their starport. Apparently, they are not recognizing they need to remove so
I like the idea of combat modules. However, in my own gameplay, I never fortify my starbases, relying on my fleets to protect my assets.
so far in this version, the drath are manipulating the torians into declaring war on pretty much everyone. You'd think on Suicidal level, the torians would realize that declaring war on the world is insane. Curious to see how quickly they'll get wiped out.
Yeah, yeah. I know. Waiting until there are more notebooks with vid cards supporting dx10.
Takes you only 30+ seconds? Hell, takes about a minute or more on my notebook!
Happens to me too. They had this problem with one build of DL, but Cari fixed that problem relatively quickly. Looks like it's back. I've sent in my error log, not sure if it will help without a saved game. I've got 512 MB of RAM and additional 768 paged.
You're missing the point. There is no difference between the neutral and evil choices! LOL I could care less which is the better choice, as long as I have three options - not two.
As you can see from the image, there are no differences between the neutral and evil options. Also, the 1% gain seems rather infinitesimal. WWW Link
That's a good point. After all, pirates are in it to make money from easy marks/targets, not destroy. I'm all for them wanting to destroy resource bases for their OWN TAKING, but what would be the point unless they are a minor race with planets of their own. Nonetheless, in their current incarnation I think their relative power needs to be scaled so that players have a fighting chance.
Crap, hit post and can't edit. I'd pay more for better diplomacy!!! I would like more diplo functions and options. The ability to threaten, cajole, warn, and most importantly, coordinate with other AIs.
This is starting to sound like GalCivIII: Total War.
The same event happened to me, and at a most fortuitous time. The Arceans and Yor declared war, and a couple turns later I had the Pirates! mega-event. Needless to say, as a human player, I knew to avoid the pirates and every enemy planet was susceptible to invasion. Devs: if it's possible to code, you should make the Pirates have ships that are somehow proportional to existing AI and player ship strengths/access to weapons technology. For example, if the event happens early in the g
Or try the chatroom in Stardock Central...
Wow, Kyro...looks like a bona fide circle jerk here.
God, I'm salivating as I'm downloading. Gonna say goodbye to the wife for the next week or so...
Way to go!!!
So I load up a quicksave this morning to continue a Metaverse game using the latest version...and this is the first screen I see: The thing is, I am the Free Terran Refuge of this game! So either the dumbass Iconians are telling me what I already k
Well, I'm excited. Looks like I'll be adding my pre-order to the list in the coming weeks. Can't wait to read what some of those additional features are! Great news!
As crappy as the reviews were, I friggin' loved Fantasy General! The free and almost open-source Battle for Wesnoth is similar, but not quite the same. Come on, Brad, you have to give us a few tantalizing details as to what your team is envisioning creating! Please please please.
I had something like that once. In 1.3 beta, I was playing as a custom race - Free Terran Refuge, refugees from an earth that forsaken democracy and free thought for theocratic zeolotry (yes, that includes the US). I had made some allies, and after invading a minor race near the Terrans, Earth declared war on me, which led to my allies declaring war on earth, which led to the neutral arceans declaring war on my allies to which I had to declare war with to uphold my alliances. Once the Drengin
Brad, as much as I would be willing to wait for DA, I think it would be a financial mistake for Stardock to wait and release after Christmas. Forget about dropping the price of GalCiv II. I think what makes sense - considering the short period of time you have left - is to finish up what you're doing with DA and BUNDLE it with GalCiv II for the retail crowd at $40-50. Sell stand-alone DA online for $20 for customers who already have Dread Lord. Drop the price of Dread Lords to $30 over the c
Brad, you and your team would first have to revamp the "trade" screen. As it is now, there is no way to coordinate with allies. So if there are any game-altering events that require cooperation, make the change. The folks at Creative Assembly (makers of the Total War series) have a good interface that might be worth emulating.
