Spearthrower's Guide to Relaxed and Enjoyable Play "I keep trying to make sense of this game, but the numbers are all messed up." Forget numbers and play... it aint a calculator! "* A number of the racial abilities / bonuses do not work as advertised." Even if they dont work as it says, they do still give you something

Good point!
1) its offten the most overlooked custom build because its too easy just to use the provided scout,(which is only realy good for sweeping the map IMO) but most people dont think that its worth the risk to put up a single 1 hit hull as a sensor platform, Bascialy the game mechanics dont diferentiate between a 1 hit platform and a
1) I think that's a pretty common use of an early ship build - but it doesnt hurt to say it again! 2) I built my own colony and freighter ships which then get upgraded to use better engines or more life support depending on their needs. I don't know what you mean about changing hull though - I always use cargo Hulls for them. 3) That's a pre
You say they work, but how do I check. Everything I look at indicates that they do not work. As I said: control and n until you get a 700% manufacturing tile on earth. Look at your income.... rush buy a factory and look at your spending. You will notice straight away if you have got the bonus as build
How do you know exactly which components he has on his ships? Ok.... I was half asleep when I posted this.... and it tells!!
How do you know exactly which components he has on his ships? If you are referring to the numbers then there are lots of ways he could have done it. E.g. Colonise a planet and get a high +%Starship bonus. Mine a series of military resources. Have higher miniaturisation and weapons mastery than you. Have things like Hyperion Shrinker. But in answer to your question, as far as I have seen from playing the different races... the hull
While it is a fun way to play, it could be argued that it isn't really much of a strategy. You still have to go conquer his planets ultimately if you want to win by any other way than tech victory. Once you move outside your web of death, all the time and investment is gone. I'm not going to argue that it doesn't work because it's certainly important to get a good military starbase up to protect your assets but turtling only achieves maintaining what y
I don't suppose there is any way to 'see' what a starbase's effect radius will be BEFORE building a starbase? Sometimes I'm trying to get that *exact* placement to maximize how many planets will benefit from my econ bases, but I get it off by *one* square and I have to destroy the starbase (or reload from autosave). If the
1 Do the bonus tiles in the colony screen actually work.................... 2 When starting a new game and designing the galaxy the "Habitable Planets", "Number of Planets", and "Number of stars" setting have no real effect on what happens ...... Is this just my game? 3 In the game Manual is states that ther
I dont understand what's going on in that picture above. The 2 frigates attacked with Beam attack and both scored 0 even though the Concord's don't seem to have any defences. It never happens like that in my games
Currently, the AI doesnt have to follow the 3 parsec rule. But in the next patch (or soon anyway) they are going to install a 3 starbase per sector restriction which the AI will also follow.
WHAT?! I didn't know chicken and their eggs are illegal heheh - not in most states.... only in the Hardcore religious ones. Pushkar is one of the main spiritual towns in India so they observe high levels of religious restraint. It's a really cool town actually if you can handle extreme vegetarianism!
MoAus. It is not clear exactly how you are playing. Is it on a small or medium map with rare suns and planets because if its not then you should have many many many more planets with which to specialise. Are you building colony ships at the start to go and grab more planets - this initial rush to colonise is very much a part of the game. Once you have multiple planets under your belt you can tailor them towards certain goals like making an economy plan
Well, I have 3 things to say about your 2 questions. 1) I remember reading about this from a StarDockian and I believe that this is a no for now. 2) Yes you can.... I have read about it many times but as I have never bothered to edit stuff like that myself, I couldnt tell you how to do it - it would be a case of modifying some xml, that's all I know. ..... <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Yum.gif"
O and BTW...McDonalds in India don't server real cow meat. They server either Vege Burgers, Osterage Meat, or Turky. Makes smart buisness sence if you think about it. Actually, when I was there it was lamb they used in their burgers..... hmm lamb might be a tad too kind... it was definitely sheep tho
Bumping for having a real question on the front page, not just a collection of whines, complaints and demands for tactical combat, 1st person shoot-em ups and lemonade sims as part of the game.
I hereby claim, for all of humanity, all the space from the earth to a million squillion miles out in all directions! Now, enforcing it is another thing.
Love the evil America comments Achillus! Spot on! Britain is invading Russia - we are just using state of the art spy rocks to do it for us!! It's in the news! <b
Never seen this happen - are you sure when you pressed the weapons tab, you tried clicking the Beam weapons tab too..... silly question possibly but the only reason I can think if it not being there.
The market IS cumulative - you also need something for it to factor onto. Once your population builds up you will see that the income from a market heavy planet far outweighs the income from one with only a single market.
Well, the AI seems to expand VERY rapidly, so i wonder how they survive this rapid expansion. Unless you mean on the very hardest difficulty, I can easily outexpand the AI everytime. I think half the problem of the OP is not the maintenance cost of the colonies but he probably spotted some nice 300/70

Clearly daver33, and I really genuinely mean no offence.... but you totally suck at this game!! No, the game's not outlandishly difficult. Yes the game has the same basic idea as Civ4 that the races have a reason why they hate you which you can read in the report. Just the same as civ4, if you are a total military weakling you are going to g
Panzerboy..... I normally maintain a diplomatic approach towards people who have totally unrealistic expectations and attempt to make demands, then get shitty with people when they dont get what they want.... that's because I'm a teacher and children do that kind of thing. You however are on a forum for a computer game and have basically just trolled your way through everything with no real thought to what your request entails. Arguments have been stated above as to why it is not a pa
