Stromko i agree in part with your point of view because soldiering is nearly a nosense as the planetary invasion is managed now. As example in my last game there were 27 planetary invasions which 25 were successful and 2 failed (ai failed to conquer my planets). With traditional warfare things can become a bit harder but u can have successful invasion with less than 1/3 of defender troops. With mass drivers enabled there is really no chance to fail an invasion; as example i was human and was inv

i have just finished the ideological war scenario and it's the best solution to prevent ai tech trade.in the scenario u can anyway tech trade with ur allies and AI too but at least there are 3 factions with different techs and not all races with all the same techs. i suggest to play this scenario if u are tired of AI tech trade
you don't need 4000 troops to conquer a planet, u can always manage the job with 1000 troops and mass drivers and u are sure to wipe out a planet with a population of nearly 10 billion while they have too better soldiering and techs
I don't think there's anything wrong, in that it's by design that you can change these abilities. Whether that design was a good idea or not is another question, but as far as I know, that's how it's "meant" to work. In my opinion if it was by design it needs really to be changed because if i want to play with customized races i choose to p
Today i got the game and i can say that it is very well done and refined but there is one feature which needs really to be improved......planetary invasions. From what i can say it is a lot unbalanced for the invader: in my last match i managed to have all invasions successful with invasion troops less than 1/5 and with an advantage factor of more than 15 times that of the defender.planetary defence can be exploited sending few invasion troops with unconventional attacks(core fusion, tidal distru
after my first game where i messed up all default race abilities i found that in any new game default race abilities are no more displayed but only your changes. So what can i do to have again default race abilities and how can i fix them so in any new game i haven't to change everything?
i have some questions about picking race. first of all it seems that when i add remaining points to a race, if i want to begin a new game these new abilities are exposed instead of default race abilities. secondly when i add remaining points default race abilities are weakened so if i add some points in a field default ability for race decrease.Am i wrong or there is something wrong in game?
today i finally got the game. there is a problem i can't enable antialiasing it seems to be fixed at 0 what can i do? my spec: amd 3500+ 1024 mb ram ati x800xt audigy ls monitor 710t
today i got my european retail version. dumb question but i want to assure myself; shall i download only 1.01d patch to get collectors edition package and all bug and fixes or shall i download CE bonus pack 1.0d patch and finally 1.01?
I haven't played Civ4, but almost every factor you mentioned is already part of GC2. Different techs require a different number of beakers to research, and the AI does take this into consideration when trading. Your relations also affect what they're willing to offer in response to a trade, and the relations take into account any racial prejudices and histo
in my opinion the tech trading should be managed like in civ4.First of all should be introduced for every technology the cost in research points. Secondly AI tech trade should be based on costs of technology and relations between the 2 races. I would add also modifiers based on race history and style of play (for example altarians and drath, or yor and iconians should have a negative modifier in tech trade, humans and arceans positive),( Drengin should give away less military technology, humans
i would suggest planetary invasion defensive tacticts to prevent these exploits in planetary invasion. In history invaders or attackers needed at least a superior army to balance defense advantages so i don't understand why there is no way to defend a planet from an invasion.
In Stardock's defense, I understand that they are more focused on stability bugs and completely broken features right now. social, research production bonus should be the first bugs to be fixed because they affect gameplay more than other minor bugs.Morale calculation, population growth modifiers are also major bugs that need to be addressed AS
can anyone explain me how population and taxation are related?if my population grows of 1 billion people how much more bc i will get? there is any equation like that for population limit and planet quality or economy is related to population randomly?
There is allways the hard way.. Manually blast the living daylights out of their trade routes, Blockade their planets and make them beg for your mercy. u can blockade a civilization positioning ships near their planets, so they can't trade or exchange tech anymore? <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Gasp.gif" border=0
in my opinion intelligence shouldn't be overpowered but should be allowed anyway to do some covert actions which shouldn't be balance breakers but add some feature to gameplay. As nitey said all covert actions should be linked to specific levels of intelligence so if u want powerful covert actions u need high levels.Covert actions could be very risky and costly so u couldn't abuse of intelligence actions. An improved intelligence system will also add longevity to gameplay because instead of
i mean advantage factor shouldn't be more than 10 times that of the attacker so if advantage factor is 55 vs 5 for the defender u can't do special invasion tacticts
to address this problem could be introduced the rule that to begin mass drivers or other special invasion tacticts the advantage factor of the defender shouldn't be more than 10. but i don't know if the advantage factor is caalculated before the invasion. in my opinion it's the only way to address the problem
there is onte thing i haven't yet understood.on download section there is 1.0d patch, it's only for retail versions, the fact that 1.01 is not yet published in download section is motivated by the fact that it's not for retail versions? another question my retail copy is not yet arrived when i will install the game i have to install first 1.0d and then 1.01 or i can install only 1.01? 1.01 will include changes in 1.0d?
i'm totally agreed with you intelligence should be used not only for gather information but also for covert actions which would add a lot of fun to gameplay without changing it too much. first of all i would add some actions to intelligence that could be very damaging but i would counterbalance it with counterintelligence, in this way intelligence would be more challenging. about covert actions they can be done paying extra credits for specific missions so after u have reached a specif
i'm waiting for my retail copy so this "patch 1.0d" should only activate my serial number to get CE bonus pack and future patch or add-ons? so it is an activation patch and there is no bug fixed......am i wrong?
in download section it is expressely said that it's a patch. so anyway what is fixed or added?
what is the patch content 1.0d for retail versions? P.S.: i haven't yet seen any thread about the new patch, so it's advisable to make a sticky every bonus pack or patch available with a description of content added, fixes and mprovements. Thank You
what is the equation between tot of population and tot of taxes. fo example if i have 5billion people how much taxes i will get? if the population grows of 1 billion how much more taxes i will gain?so what's thew equation?
