Trust me I would have done that if it were that easy. No internet where the PC is and only have wireless on laptop. Would cost me some extra cash just to download the game. And I rather not....it's no prob playing on the laptop but I would like to be able to move it easy to the PC.

I "installed" the game on an external drive via another computer (laptop). I want to install it on my desktop PC. Is it safe to just move the /Glaciv2 dir to /program files/ on my PC?

Saying tactical combat would ruin the game even if you turn it off makes about as much sense as saying that telling a colony what to build next ruins the game, instead of just delegating EVERYTHING to governor AIs. It slows the game down....which CAN make a game worse. My arguement still is that

Logistics. Logistics. Logistics. You have complete control of that in this game and quite frankly most tactical situations could be played out in the game map. Want to protect a weak but important ship... keep it away from the attacker on the map just like you would in a tactical battle. As far as I can see the tactical battle is there. Bump as it were and ditto. Although I'm not sure why (I usually don't gopher space strat) I bought GC way back when and had a fun time with it. Miffed that I have since lost my disk.
