I have upgraded my flagship several times. It has to be a medium hull design since your flagship is a medium hull ship. I know it works. Perhaps, Wicked Flea, you are doing something wrong? For Brilhasti: Starbases do not attack unless they are attacked. Military starbases will provide some pretty monstrous bonuses to ships in combat in their area of effect though. A military starbase can make some weak 1st generation ship competitive against 3rd and 4th generation ships. Or it

I see lots of farms when I play. I invaded two planets last night where the AI had farms. When I set the mini map to show pop I see 15 planets in a large galaxy that have more than 15 billion pop. I totally agree with Dracil. I never build farms unless I have a farm bonus square and some good morale improvements to build. Invasion is too easy with less than 90% approval because I can buy them off and do.

Playing the game with really slow tech advancement does fix this problem, somewhat. Even totally focusing on research and owning 10 planets, again all focused on research it takes me about 7 turns to research a new tech. None of the computer players focus as hard on research as I do so I have a nice tech advantage. When I dont solely focus on tech, as I usually dont, advances take as long as 20 turns. There is very little trading done on a per turn basis. The thing I do hate about the frequ

Thats why you go higher in difficulty. I love your way of thinking though. I do the same thing but I am the one selling ships. I research lots of diplo and trade plus ship building tech. Then I sell it to anyone and everyone. The idea being to get everyone fighting each other with my ships while I am at peace with everyone making lots of cash and positioning for the win.

1) TriStrontium Armor and TriStrontium Armor II have the same cost, size, and defense. I would think that if I went to the trouble to research TriStrontium Armor II I would get some benefit for it like with the rest of the techs. 2)I saved the game with 3 class 17 planets. When I loaded my save game I had 3 class 15 planets instead. All three still had 17 squares to build on though. The just showed the wrong number in the colony screen, which I use to build and sort my planets. E

Somebody put up a link for 3d Analyzer. It works great and now I have textured goodness. The only catch is, I cant figure out how to get the game to run with the windowed parameter. I created a shortuct and added the windowed parameter easily. 3d Analyzer doesnt allow me to add a paramter as far as I can tell. So does anyone know how to do this? Allow me to execute GC2 with 3d Analyzer and a windowed parametr?

I also got this "bug". It has the wiff of a feature gone wrong to me. I could see upgrading changing the ship produciont of planets producing the old ship but it also overwrites my consturcot...et al production too. Very annoying.

It is a feature that your old designs are saved. To save you work in designing them again. I do not know how to get rid of the old designs though. I personally like to design new ones each time and hate having to obsolete and delete my old designs. I do know that pushing the delete button doesnt stop them from returning next game.

The minimum ration required to flip is 4:1. If planet is in a parsec where another civ has more than 4 times as much cultural influence then they will get teh red skull by their planet. Then they will start a "roll" to flip each turn or so. They are more likely to flip the greater the ratio but 4:1 is the minimum.

PQ has nothing to do with PopCap. You can look at the planet screen and see how much food you are producing. To the right of that is a box showing planet population. Building run at the efficiency you set them at in your government window. It doesnt matter how many people you have. I have had a planet down to 5 million, yes million, people and still run the buildings at whatever efficiency I determinced from my tax and distro screen (f4). The only way to increase the pop cap is to build a

I would like to see an option similar to tech. I like making tech way slower and I would like to make range much smaller too. I like to slow the pace of the game down some, most of the time. If I am playing to be a stone cold killer I like things to go fast.

I have seen this before. I took notes on it last night. I researched plasma weapons at like 10weeks. Then I Plasma II came up and it only took 6 weeks. My empire was pretty advanced at this point. I hadnt built any new invention matrix improvements or built/conquered any new planets. This happened with armor too. I researched Kanvium and the one after that was half as expensive. It happens everytime I research a breakthrough technology. To get to the next generation of improvement is ex

I have read the manual and the tooltips and they still dont make sense. What do they do in the game? I have never seen an instance where creativity and luck have done anything for me. I have played two games with both skills so that I can see what they do. I have no clue after about 8 hours with each skill. I am hoping a dev or someone who has seen them in action can give me a concrete example of what they do.

I cant believe this hasnt been mentioned. When I put more than 1 ship on auto explore they follow each other and only one does the real exploring. They should now what the empire has seen and what the other ships are doing so they dont waste time searching known space and following behind the scout in front of them.
