So far, everything is certainly sounding good. And as much as I was hoping for Tactical battles in this beta. If it's a matter of fixing them so that they all rock. Well that's fine. As an aside, I think it would be neat to have some dungeon's be "Tactical Battle Maps" for groups to explore. With them conceivably having connected "Levels" With the ability for the player to spend several "Turns" in the dungeon, exploring each "Tactical Battle Map" they represent. I think that w

Forum ate my post last night. Quick rundown. AI now.. in beta sucks. AI in the future will challenge you to a game where you're never really sure if your going to win, until the end.
Whether it is necessary or not isn't the question. It would certainly be fun to have! Of course it is. Developing support for 2nd monitor display inevitably takes development time off something else, so it's very much a question of necessity. It might be "handy" to have in a few cases, but none of those are compelling enough to say "Yes, we need dev time on this feature".
Well, at no point

I too would love to see dual screen implementation, ala Supreme Commander 2, with it built right in. Maybe a map of the visible land seen so far, so you can explore on the main screen and see what's going on over on the 2nd monitor, in a big picture scene.

Hey everyone, I've put up another 4 videos, with 35 minutes of footage to explore. (Fun with dealing with bugs and crashes, and thoughts on the game.) Oh did I mention it also discusses the "Magic" aspect of the game as well, so far. (For Nemesis and others who were interested.) I hope you all enjoy it, and as an aside, give the videos time to full process to watch them in full glory in 1080p HD viewing. Just need to wait for Youtube to finish that on their side.

Going back and doing some work with the magic today. I was left feeling like I had eaten a greasy sandwich. Sure the idea of summoning allies to work with me. Cool. Pretty much every other spell in there, kinda like "Feh?" That and I kept getting reminded of playing a game from the late 80's early 90's as far as simplicity, and lack of depth within the spells. That and the whole process is confusing, learning spells, with spell points, is not intuitive, but you

A couple things that I've seen in 2B. You need to learn the various summon spells. And keep them with your King. Keep your armies strong, but summoning new units as your points allow. There is also a misnamed spell called Famine. It will summon a troll. He's a good strong fighter, so I would give him a shot too. Those are the most immediate choices I can see that can help.
Having spent the day “play testing” the pre-beta 3 build I’ve had some thoughts on gameplay that I’d be interested in y’alls opinions. In no particular order: Interesting Choices. Being forced to spend essence to build a city is not a choice interesting or not. I’m inclined to find some other use to revive land rather than forcing users to use it to effectively build a town. Tha

One thing is the magic, and schools and shards, all seem like great ideas. But I would really like to see it expanded. And not just cost extra points to buy specializations at creation. If War of Magic is the title. It would stand to reason that, magic should be a viable method to encounter battles in WAR. One of the great things about 4th edition D&D. Was that they made all characters able to do something every round. And also feel distinct and different from the

Yeah I've got the same problem in from my Beta 2B test videos. I found that even restarting a few turns before and changing actions up to that point, which in this case is turn 43. The button will gray out, and not progress. I'm gonna put them up (save game files) so they can find this issue out.
Sorry for not writing this in a more proper bug report format. So I was checking out Beta 2-B and I ran into a female adventuer (My Sov. was male) and saw the Ring Icon to get married. So I proposed, and she agreed to become queen. I was able to recruit her from 3-4 tiles away. I then took my Sov in the other direction and sent her back to the city. My Sov continued adventuring, and next thing I know i'm being prompted that my wife has

From what I've gathered. It's not total gibberish. That's not to say it's always elegant. I believe it's some style provided for the base game. So it's either going down a list of pieces to attach to itself to and thus comes up with odd ones. Or it is using a functional list to go off of premade names. Then again, as I've been playing D&D forever, I've used several name generators over the years, that are script functions that put together words from a vast l

Good to hear Frogboy! Seriously, all that stuff sounds damn good. (Tactical battles being high on my list.) I'm also excited to hear about you really treating the Sovereign as a "Character" that were constantly enhancing. New Gear, equipment, and Spells. Speaking of Spells, the Sovereign should start off with a battle spell. Even if it's pure Mana Fire. With the ability to use that mana fire through weapons in melee, (like Warlocks in 4th Edition D&D, who have Eldritch Bla
"all of us"? The new build should, overall, feel a bit slower than previous builds as work was done to try out multi-core optimizations starting with quad core; unless you have quad core you will probably notice a significant slow down. As we go forward we will continue to refine performance. The map is also 4 times larger than beta 2a so that should also have a noticeable impact as well. &nbsp

Hey folks, Just wanted to let y'all know I've put up some new videos of Beta 2B. And as I put up more, I'll post it in here. I also put up a bit of a blog post about perspectives on whether the game will be ready. Just thought I would share this with y'all. As an aside, if there's anything anyone is specifically wanting to see in the video's let me know. As I explore this aspect, I'll share more with you all. And if you can think of something that w

Hi XeronX. It's a balance, but your food output and city size is also a factor, with housing. If you don't have enough housing you will stay stuck at 10. You can also learn tech's that will enhance your food options, such as Apiarys for the bee hives, and other stuff for Wild Game, and the actual Farming of Fertile land. You can also go to my blog, and watch my video's on how I got cities larger. http://gorstagg.wordpres
Make mountains out of mold hills much? You people are blowing this all out of wack. The guy never said that the book should not be sold. All he is saying is that the Lore should not affect the game as much in Sandbox mode which I agree with. Now from what has been said it looks like the lore will be only in the Campaign which is good and the Sandbox is open for us to create our own world. There was no need for peo

Hey Everyone. For those of you who've followed the first part of An Elemental Tale. I've got part 2 up now, with the perspective of the King. You can also find it http://gorstagg.wordpress.com/2010/06/23/an-elemental-tale-chapter-1-part-2-the-king-2/ there directly if your so inclined. I hope you enjoy it.

Hi Endofdayz, Your issue with the lore and the reasoning behind it. Is a bit premature. Your analogy to a European campaign. Doesn't hold water. Here's why. Your complaining about the game being built. And disliking what is being built. Because of your perceived references. Elves and Orcs, well what's the difference there? In Tolkien's work Orcs were twisted elves. Tall guys, and green evil smaller guys. If you don't like the base lore. In that sense,

This is the type of thing that is going to really going to take this game from Awesome to Epic. People talk about how great a game is, but they only play it for a while. As it's got a very short "Life Span". But this game by it's very nature is going to be very replayable. And then you throw in the other side, allowing the user to create things to enhance the game. I loved ship design in Gal Civ. That was great, but this is even better. By leaps and bounds. (Hell I wouldn't be surpris

See, I knew Brad would offer you a refund immediately if your bent out of shape over this. That's the type of guy he is. Your comment talking about a 600 page book being given away for free, as opposed to the author.. receiving payment for their hard work. You clearly, have absolutely no idea what that entails. Writing a book is not a quick buck. And if someone tells you that. They are lying to you. And if you've paid any attention to anything about him writing t

Welcome to the forums Druduss. I don't know the answer to your question, other than I vaguely remember them indicating they weren't looking to do any translations. (I think it was in a thread.) But as far as the modding part, with that being a translatable option. I'm genuinely curious myself.
