Wow, it seems like the atmosphere is quite.. tense. I started the post saying: It does appear like the game is lacking any sort of feminine race/leaders though. What do you guys think? I did not meant to ask for "some green women with large human mammaries" or " 21 year old intern with implants and stilettos." I also didn't mea

hard-coded abilities might not necessary suit your playing style. and thus.. you customize to fit your need. Say if you don't ever bother with espionage and sensor range, points invested in espionage and sensor would be wasted for the pre-built race to you.
In the mid-1960s, the top British income tax rate was 91.5 percent on incomes above 115,000 pounds. This was only slightly below the 95 percent top rate during World War II. By contrast, the top U.S. rate was just 70 percent at that time, thanks to the Kennedy tax cut. Yep, i'm aiming for something crazy like that. As long as my approval is hig
When do 20-something men or women rise to prominence in any mature government? Heads of state are dignified; they're not supposed to be sex objects. And they tend to be OLD!!! Now keep in mind that there are more than one way to win the game. Diplomatic victory - political - leaders usually old Technological victory - science - leader usual
It'd be nice if there was at least an alternate female portrait for each of the main races Actually that was what I was thinking of. Since there isn't an alternate female portrait, I usually end up using the custom race picture as the leader potrait.
ah that makes a lot more sense, thanks for the clarification. Considering that you can't change alignment after you have already selected your alignment and that you can't get persuade other civilizations to select your alignment or change the one they have.. and that a lot of benefit seems to only apply to civilizations with the same alignment as you .. it feels less like a good vs evil thing but just faction A vs faction B vs faction C.. You might play evil ju

military base bonus could be crazy like that. helped a lot in dreadlord siege..
Lame joke, I know. It does appear like the game is lacking any sort of feminine race/leaders though. What do you guys think?
I get the message that I can't put them within 3 spaces of another, but I've seen the AI do just that. you can if it's in a different sector..
curttasker, have you checked out the thread "STICKY: EASY TWEAKS to make the game better for you" It seems like there are a lot of bugs and suggestions there. Perhaps you could incorporate to the list suggestiongs that is found in that thread.
1) Galaxy Setup i) If not replace, at least add the option of drop down box for habitable planets, number of planets, and other settings. It makes it easier to see at a glance what choices the player have and make a choice. ii) Add the option of how often random events occur, build rate. iii) Besides the current set up of game difficulty and AI intelligence. You might break it down into categories like AI starting fund Player starting fund AI penalty (economic)

What is cheaper, researching a 8/0 ship or a 4/4 ship (A/D ratings) ? Which design takes up more space? Which design costs more? Who wins in battles like a 8/0 vs a 4/6 or a 10/0 vs a 6/6 or a 14/0 vs a 4/10? Besides that, you might also want to factor in the fact that defense will only be good against one type of weapon whereas the we
I believe trade good works like this. You have the trade good micro repair bots. When you give it to another race, you gave them the percentage bonus while you still retain the original bonus. (Thus it still takes up space wherever you build it). If you built the repair bots, no one else can build them. You alone have the bonus. If you offer it in a diplomacy screen. The other civilization will have the same obnus. So it's like a technology that you can have
+ Fixed invasion escape exploit (you know who you are) Noooooo, now what will I do when the dreadlords invade me with their transport full of Brads? Seriously though, thank you for taking notice and fixing the exploit.
Perhaps additional sliders can be added.. break down the difficulty level to AI intelligence, AI start fund, player start fund. And add random events and build rate slider.
you can avoid getting invaded by doing the following: in full screen mode: change the camera angle in invasion screen, then press esc/space It worked for me everytime, hmmm. For windowed mode, pressing something like space+esc helped. A bug that the Devs should probably fix.
I started a list earlier but it seems like only a handful of people saw it.. One of the major exploit I found was not addressed by a dev either. Anyway, adding the things I found onto this list. Bugs: 1) While pressing space and click the change of perspective button in planetary invasion mode, it will quit the invasion. (While in windowed mode on 1024x768) 2) Star-base can be set to auto-retreat. 3) regenerated anomaly show up on the map even if it is located somewher
is there any chance that you guys would post the list for update so we would know what's going to be fixed and changed? That way it might be less likely for people to post the same issue over and over.
*bump* since the following bug is still not addressed by any Dev while others one have. "While pressing space and click the change of perspective button in planetary invasion mode, it will quit the invasion. (While in windowed mode on 1024x768)" Another way to do this (in full screen mode) is to change the camera angle to top-down then pressing esc. so basically, one can repeat this process till a ship comes to take out the transport. I guess thi
If I'm not mistaken.. trade goods have been changed in term of how it is used. You have to build it on one of your precious zone and it cannot be destroyed. You can offer/trade the bonuses from the trade goods to other civilizations while keeping the bonus. In short, it works just like a technology that the first person to acquire can have monopoly over, right?
Besides Brad's list of known issues, I couldn't really find any other list of bugs/suggestions. I figured I might start one and add on to it. Possible Bugs: 1) While pressing space and click the change of perspective button in planetary invasion mode, it will quit the invasion. (While in windowed mode on 1024x768) 2) Star-base can be set to auto-retreat. 3) regenerated anomaly show up on the map even if it is located somewhere covered by the fog of war.
It's the notification that shows on the bottom right of the screen, though I wish you can do the same for other notification. I think the auto-launching ship option would be really helpful here.
Even though I am only on the second scenario of the campaign (taking my sweet time), there is one thing that I don't quite understand. In the scenario so far, only beam weapon tech is available (I'm guessing more will become available later). The only defense technology is mass driver defense and NOT beam defense. Is there a particular reason for it? The weapon and defense difference led me to think that I might have a corrupt game file. Is there a way to check if everythin
