Unless alien forms do not use carbon and water as a solvent as their base biochemistry, we can assume some similarities between alien life and terrestial life, at least at a cellular level. Wikipedia has this fascinating article about hypothetical biochemistries, definitely worth a read. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypothetical_types_of_biochemistry

Protocept, the truth about what happened to Galileo is not quite as one sided as you might think. I think you would be interested to know that while Galileo, while ultimately proven correct, had no way to conclusively prove his theory of heliocentrictiy without being able to detect the motions of nearby stars in front of the more distant starfield as the earth revolved around the sun (this being called parallax). Telescopes that could actually see this phenomenon did

I was about to post about this, the last few games I've played the Thalans have completely dominated, they have colonized twice as fast as the other races (including myself) and in my last game (teamed to me) they had a overwhelming military and caused the surrender of all but 3 of the other NPC races in quick succession. Their influence victory is practically assured. It's been awhile since I've played GC2:TA with any frequency, but before I don't recal

Thanks for the reply. It's a pity that it won't so easy (forgive my ignorance). I still hope sales might encourage such a change, but either way, I'm enjoying this game. Again, thanks for the reply. God Bless

Why is it that I don't have a horizontal scroll bar on my browser? Anyway...That's a good review, and congratulations Stardock for another success. I picked up the expansion yesterday but I still have to dive in. I'm sure I'll enjoy it. But that review did have a point, that immense maps would be great for play by email or a turn server system like Laser Squad Nemesis. It reminds me of the MP games that I played in Stars!. Very memorable. I know that this is beatin

It's always best to act with dignity, even when you're being griefed. I've been around for over 3 years in EVE, I've been attacked, I've been ganked many times over the course of the game, but only in low sec and 0.0 space. It's annoying, but it does add some spice to the game (though I myself do not condone suicide ganks) but there are always remedies even for the worst acts, it most is just being aware. With the bad is also the good, there are many honourable players, corps

The ONE thing I would like in 1.04 is this: Some more advanced diplomacy, like asking people to make peace or war with others, and info on who's allied to who. Plus, it would be nice if they notice and give positive standings if you help defend their planets. But other than that, cool game!

Personally, the high diplomacy games I play often bog down into universal peace, which is nice, but gets boring. My last game was fun, I was an evil Yor player and I have several squads of frigates (small ships) toast fleet after fleet of Drath ships, both small and medium thanks to strong military starbases. I was behind through most of the game, but I was about to attack a neighbor to get a boost ahead but the almighty terrans attacked and wasted my super frigate fleets and I

My memory may be wrong here, but I remember reading that at on of the French revolutions they abolished any sort of copyright protection. But soon afterwards they reestablished it because it totally stifled any innovation. It makes sense (correct history of not), if your work is open to anyone to exploit even though you created the item and/or idea. Their is little hope of any profit and working further is rendered utterly meaningless. this may be an extreme example, but cert

Grr... I know such a guy like that at my work. He believes pirating is ok because the publishers make so much money. The most lamest excuse I've ever heard. I feel for you Stardock and I appreciate your trust. It downright sinful that people abuse that trust and cause more hardship. Anyway, I love your games and I hope the pirating of them stops.

I had the same thing happen in a game a couple games back. All I did was do the standard "Make peace..." offer and added a minor tech as a bribe. Unfortunately, I was probably because I was a terran with their God-like diplomacy abilities (IIRC, I had the Diplomatic Translators Wonder too)
