He may be right. I played a game on a large galaxy with 9 intelligent AIs. As time went on, I noticed it was extremely quiet, and I had a lot of planets. I spent some espionage, and every other race had 0 or ZERO, production spending and only had 2 planets. It IS a bug, and it is there. I hope the devs know of this.

Thats very odd... After you researched them, and picked your alignment (so you did not trade them from a good race), you just should be able to see them. Never had this problem, double check your available modules.
I've noticed that as of 1.1Beta2 Neutral Alignment is still broken in the sense that its unique upgrades are bogus. What on earth do 'neutrality learning centers' do?? There is no new structure you can build. Research times are exactly the same as before, etc... And where are the socalled unique weapons??? Nothing there either.
I dearly hope the final version will come out SOON! 1.1Beta-2 is practically unplayable for me with its incessant but erratic crashes.
Crash Concerning a Session of the UP ----------------------------------------------------- I was having trouble continuing a save game. Jeez I'm giving up on posting problems on this forum, nobody cares apparantly...
Anyone??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
I have a crash at the end of a savegame, which I will save if the devs would like to get it. Version 1.1[b2].10 Here is the end of debug.err (snip) Debug Message: Loading Colonies Debug Message: Loading RallyPoints Debug Message: Loading Ships Debug Message: Overran end of MemBuffer. ASSERT ERROR in file .\Source\memman.cpp at line 1143.
Why is it every time I update galciv with stardock central, that I get the message 'failed to validate bla bla' but I am nevertheless able to download it?
hmm odd... It happens in those random events where you have to make good/neutral/evil choises. Usually it says something about corporate corruption and how you deal with it. The evil option is then to say its OK and you get +45 interest rate, which then shows up in your abilities too. I guess you're right geneo, probably less payment for loaning.
I've seen this several times as an ability. What does it do?
One hint for all of you experiencing this kind of abnormal behaviour: Check the forums, see if a lot of others are reporting the exact same behaviour. If that is not the case, and it isn't here, then the problem is almost certainly NOT the game's fault. The exact same code runs fine on thausands of other computers. It is hardware obligue, meaning, it uses standard DirectX interface for audio and video. In other words, this kind of abnormal, and anomalous behaviour is cause
I noticed this in my last game. Mid-game a minor race appeared with a planet inside my space around a previously uninhabitable blue star. I reloaded a save game some time later, and I noticed that star was now yellow in color. Not a high priority gameplay breaking bug, but still...
Playing against crippling AIs, I have noticed using various start bonuses that it's impossible to win or stay alive without a decent millitary (decent being ~ rating > 70). Yet, on one map, we have the altarians boxed in a corner with only 5 planets and yet for 3 years they aren't warring anybody despite they have the weakest millitary, whereas I with my average army am constantly warred upon by others. To win, I have to set high econ bon
Depending on your computer's memory and memory speed, and the map you play on, reloading all the texture nodes can take a long while. Sometimes up to minutes on my pc.
Hi, It occured to me it would be very helpful if we had more options to set governors for individual planets. For instance, if you can create custom groups of planets you can assign millitary production to. If you have a set of small capacity planets, to collect all those in one group, and then set that group to produce light defenders. Similarly, you can have your 5 best planets churn out those killer capital ships.
How many years,on average, does it take to complete a gigantic map with those settings on, say, Intelligent AI difficulty vs. 9 opponents? I've been hesitant to try gigantic, as... well... I prefer 5 years games -- which takes me about 3 hours to win on Suicidal (just about right for me). But I would try gigantic if I could complete it in 6-9 hours (split it up
Against incredible or crippling AI I go for: +full morale +full econ +some diplo +technologists/pacifists (morale/diplo bonus) I've found it to be vitally important to be able to max out your industrial capacity all the way. I tried several rounds with the tempting bonuses maxing out your social/millitary spending, but I inevitably get stuck by my lousy economy. What good is 100% social/mil bonus, if you can't spend
Aah sorry guys, I was sloppy. Of course I meant 1.0X.010. I'm very interested to see what 1.1 brings!! edit: thanks frogboy!
Yes, the Ai is definatly in need of some tweaking. Overall, I think its very good, except for these points: + The mindboggling-amount-of-tiny-ships-sitting-in-one-corner-doing-nothing syndrome + Reckless sending of unarmed transporters + Outdated fleet usage + Generally unintelligent millitary behaviour, unable to see trough obvious counter-tactics. + Extremely illogical go-to-war logic (tend to war you solely based on m
Greetings, I have noticed trading tech is not as profitable as it used to. That is all well and good, and I understand the reasons, but it is really overdone. For example, I am waaay ahead of everyone else in technology. This race is struggling to get some low-level armor, and has 10.000bc credits or so. Yet, when I try to sell them zero-point armor I only get 600bc????? On the other hand, if I want to purchase gal. stock exchange from them, I h
Greetings, I have played a lot of games in GalCiv2, and here is a list of suggestions that I think might greatly improve the gameplay experience, without too much cost on the programming side! * Make ship upgrading more transparant. As of now, sometimes it works, sometimes it won't. Usually, it won't. It would be nice if this were functional. Right now, I have to rebuild an entire fleet every year or so to stay competative. Scrapping my old fleet of 30ish small/medium craft merely
I think its a real bug. Its just too incredibly stupid for the AI to do....
Weird post.... very weird, but it is nonetheless interesting. First of all, you are wrong about your observation, for it seems to me that you have rather developed a problem with yourself than with this game, if you are engaging in obsessive compulsive behaviour. It is not at all fair to blame the game for that! The linearity and abstract remarks are right on, need not elaborate. Again however you are blaming the game too much for
