but rather most PC game companies are simply not geared up to do the kind of development model we're used to. Overly modest, it seems.

Who cares if he makes his own trolling thread? At least he isn't ruining someone elses thread!
I want to note I was writing that as the same time as you brad, just in case you miss the time, so I didn't see that the AI had to specifically scan it with thier ships, but how else did they find it? Minor races are fairly easy to keep an eye on. The messed up ranges have them taking resources way out of range for them right from the begining of the game and without scanning the area. The attack capable ships detection is also rather pointess. Wh
I have been using the cheat parameter to do some extensive testing and noticed one thing that should be looked into regarding this. I switched races, clicked turn, then switched back and two of my colonizers had orders into uncharted space, straight to planets that I had not discovered. Another A.I had discovered them. Also the A.I starts out in contact with every other race. That is pretty nice as an advantage I would say. Also with the beta I go
See? My giberish is keeping your mod at the top of the list and increasing interest!
#12 by psychoravin Tough? OMG! When you come play in the big leagues give us a call!
Eventually diplomatic ties break down and suddenly everyone "knows what I am doing", which is surprising, because even I don’t know what the hell I am doing, as I am not building starbases in the middle of other civ’s territory, nor am I planting a huge armada next to their home planet, so what exactly am I doing anyway? </TR
There should be some penalty to breaking alliances also.It just seems to dam easy to abuse A.I alliances for your own agenda, he helps you,you never help poor A.I. agreed! Right now it isn't hard to re-ally after breaking an alliance. I would never re-ally with someone who dropped me at the first
I am consistantly successful at asking for peace and getting large concessions. The important thing is that you must be significantly more powerful than them. Not just barely. They value peace based upon common sense. If you are only slightly less powerful than the enemy, peace isn't worth much concessions... If your enemy is massive and has fleets running through your territory crushing your ships then you will do more to make peace. Does that not make sense to you? The amount of victo
I have to recommend against this strategy. If I have troop ships standing around somewhere in the game some AI will declare war on me because I am threating him. They can be deep in my own space even! In the center, in the corner of the galaxy. That AI detection thing reeks. Should be totally shut off of minor races. Who would bother mass up to invade thier 1-3 planets? I hate that feature! Anyways I recommend instead that you use colony ships
Honestly I Remember the demo for galciv 1 and i'm not sure what the turn limit was but it wasn't enough to get me hooked. I didn't get sa sufficient taste for the game. Having a turn limit is probably not necessary in a teaser of this sort, 150 turns may seem like a lot but not when your just trying it out for the first time. There are a few other ways to limit it such as 5 15 minute spans like moo2 or moo 3 had I forget which it was but honestly ju
Those items give you a bonus, you get that bonus when you trade. Only the torians can trade the item if they built it first. Xinatium gives your ships more hps the other gravity accel. makes your ships go faster. Both benefits you now have but only the torians can grant them to other people. Now, If you capture the torian world that has the original stash items built on it you can then trade them to other races (and since the AI never bothers to t
I find it beneficial to give more powerful races something to do. If they start being menacing and demanding money, I pay them to go to war with someone. Or I pay a bigger neighbor to go to war with them. Keeping the enemy busy can really help, even if they do decide to still declare war on you, at least you'll have an ally. Keep some paper handy too, when you see someone build a wonder or trade good write down what planet it was on and target that
But some of your crap like, Adam Smith's Wealth of Nations... give me a break, the only time you've probably read about him was from a descriptor in a civ game lol Actually I own a copy of wealth of nations, and I have read quite a chunk. I'll spot the ISBN so you can look it up on amazon <img
#46, bad experiences as defined by me would mean that something unintended and not enjoyable happened during one of the many experiences they had playing the game. I cannot fathom my statement that A BAD EXPERIENCE MUST HAVE BEEN HAD BY A MAJORITY. Editors choice awards aside (read about an actual review a game sometime, generally they get a buggy pre-release anyways, they look beyond things like that to the quality of the product for the review). A
Look chuck, you were the one making a stink on how "hugely buggy" the game is. Then when pressed this is what you list? THIS? John I was saying the ones I expereinced within 4-5 hours into the game. I was trying to stick close to my claim that I noticed 10 bugs in 20 minutes. I expereinced many many
In other words, not their bug. whoever is at fault, it's irrelevant to the topic of "bad experiences". In addition I did not make a game that did not work with a brand new computer, that is the latest trend in the gaming industry to require high-end video cards and then complain about how PC games ar
Devs, please dont take any of these half-baked comments on board. A lot of people respect how you work and love the game. You have many supporters who probably never had the time to come to the forums to offer their support because they're too busy playing the game. As with all things in life, the satisfied customers make no nois
And I love galciv2 yes yes. Very good game. I mean I hope you don't need to keep hearing that but if you do please tell me I will start every post with it. I do not want to discourage efforts to improve. Also I should clairfy that I do not think this is a bad game got that?. Brad: I don't claim to speak for a silent majority. I appologize if it came off that way. I think everyone misunderstood that I was saying everyone, practically speaking, must have had some bad experien
For a guy who doesn't know how to use paragraphs, WTFChuck sure casts a lot of stones. Hint: Game mechanics you don't agree with aren't bugs. Hint #2: Claiming the game had 10 major bugs while only being able to list the single one that FB mentioned doesn't help your case. For the record: The game has worke
#18 I don't use military bases much anyways but I may use one in the same sector with an influence and 4 econ starbases. Anyways 4 military starbases and that 100bc fighter can still kick ass. Normally my military bases are built at some choke point the AI decides to file through no where near my planets. It is the fact that my core worlds will now number 8-10 as I spread out my econ bases where before they would just be 3-4 maybe 5 worlds together,
Ok and it won't let me edit that last post so let me just add something else real fast. People that are having bad experiences are not a minority simply because you say so. I think if we counted people having bad experiences they would be in the majority. My bad experiences are in the minority, maybe that is what you meant? I experienced 75% of complained about bugs (well it came close to 76 when I added them quickly). I think anyone who
WELLLLL... Now that we have the fanboys views (and brads) I have to say that in some regards I agree with the poster. I want many fixes that are coming or have come in the updates but I didn't want tomatos!! The nerf to minor races stole some enjoyment, I think it likely the upcoming starbase nerfs will do so as well. I do not want nerfs, please add them as options only or something. I do like exploit removals just fine because I can't stop using
I was surfing the starforce boards after the explosion caused by the "incident". I don't want to look like a Anti-Protection facist so I'll not discuss the incident but you can find it here and there on the forums Anyways my little brother (who hasn't even played gal civ 2) caught wind of this incident off, penny arcade I think it was? So after all the hubub one starforce forums moderator post
"Economic Hegemon" and "huge subsidies" are mutually exclusive concepts in that subsidies are hardly condusive to creating true, competetive industry. This is not Adam Smith's capitalism, which is how you create an economic hegemon, read yourself some wealth of nations and stop listening to the splatering of bull feces falling out of liberal mouths!
