[color="#4169E1"]It sounds to me like you made a "run for the corner"... But lost. The initial thought was a good one, but when you got beat to it... That was a critical juncture in the game. Next time make a special save right there so you can play out differing strats and see what would have worked... As far as the game you post about: 1- I think you held on to your original idea too long. Once the possibility of getting that key planet was out it would be time to look at def

I always thought that was how you "formally" declared war on them. Pardon my ignorance, but I'm missing something... and it's not my brain because that's in the jar on the shelf above my computer... Thanks for the help BTW... much as I hate to be the dunce, I figure somebody else probably has this question

It's nice enough (for now...) It's my eyes and brain that are the problem, not the hardware. The blue is a little less for me than the green, but it's a fairly happy compromise so I think I'll stick to it for now. Thanks for the input, BTW. It's been very helpf

Sometimes I regret my decision, but most times I can get away with it without anything big happening. A few battles, a little time and declare peace. Once I did it without thinking first and the Drengin marched across the galaxy and well... It was going quite well up to that point. No regrets though.

[quote]Ah, Antracer, thanks for the sarcasm. Very helpful. I'm fairly new to the forums. There are a bewildering array of subsections. Some things to consider... not necessarily in any order. 1-What kind of control or lack of control will you have over this... If you can't control the impact of a discovery, or are going to be penalized/forced into a course of action because of a random tech appearing, that's not controllable... and could potentially ruin a good game. 2-How automated can all this be for the person who yearns for the

[color="#00FF00"]There's nothing UN official about this patch, it was released "early" in an unorthodox fashion as a goodwill gesture so to speak. It is a decent patch for sure, fixing some things and adding others. It also addresses the problems some were having with the cost of techs. The scroll to mouse is worth the price of admission, and in 2 games so far no crashes or odd behavior. Now, if they could just make it so my start location wasn't so dang crappy all the time.
