Well if you have the latest Gal Civ 2 update, there are new video options now. You might try fiddling with those one at a time. What video card do you have? EDIT: Actually saw one of your other posts. Is it possible your card doesn't support the latest version of directx, or that you don't have it up to date? Minimum specs call for DirectX 9.0c Maybe that is it?

You can find a break down of required techs here: Link Which was taken from this thread here: Link I was having trouble getting some of the core ships to show up, and honestly you are better off making custom ships designed to specifically counter your enemies ships using the ship constructor.

The problem with this is that a fleet would destroy it, and all that moolah is gone You would be better off doing a fleet of 3 small hulled ships, with one ripper each.

There is a 3-step process the AI uses when deciding whom to surrender to. Your experience is pretty common according the numerous threads on this issue. Some people attack a race with few planets simultaneously so that they don't have a chance to surrender. This is how it is designed to work for now, and alot of people feel the same way you do. I don't recall if they said they are going to tweak this or not, the only dev response I have seen was ho

Basically, anti-aliasing smoothes the jagged edges when you are looking at a 3D object. I just went to the options menu in the game and dropped it from 4X to zero. Then I bumped it up to 2X and it still worked. I think my GeForce config utility is set to use settings within each program. I prefer to adjust all my settings in each game individually and rarely have to resort to the utility program.

Well some people add colored lights as Extras from the ship editor, and if you change your hull to a really dark color (like black) the lights show up alot more. They should look bright, but I don't think that they are designed to dynamically light the ship and cast shadows etc.

The problem with #1 is that your logistical space could be used as a ship with a weapon. Basically you are needlessly adding risk to your fleet. I do your idea in #2 and make sure they have just enough engines to outrun the enemy ships and keep up with my fleets. You get the same effect, but with that one extra ship in your fleet for offense, and it sometimes makes all the difference in a close fight.

That seems fairly normal to me. Do you realize the nightmare you would have if more than 50% of the planets were managable? I personally play with very few habitable planets, but what you are describing seems normal to me. If you are wanting the most possible, you could try setting stars, planets, and habitable planets all to the maximum setting... Should work though I haven't tried it myself.

No it is not. They are seriously thinking about adding it in an expansion though. There are about 100 threads already discussing this if you care to do a forum search for the details.

And your flagship has a sensor module for anomolies, so you would have to research Survey tech as well. You can't upgrade the stock/core ships and if you want ships with your new techs (obviously) you will need to build them from scratch. If you are unable/unwilling to do that then just research the prerequisite techs for the newer core ships. NOTE: I have been having a bug where I can only unlock the core ships from the beam weapon line,

They are currently revamping the ship design feature. It is pretty complicated how the ships are saved, and depends if you are playing the campaign or sandbox mode. I don't know the exact answer to your question, and with the coming changes it would be invalid shortly anyways. If you must know now, you can do a quick forum search (it's on the left side).

Well if you made a battleship with 1 HP I'd say that the best ships come from the game. Giving you the benefit of the doubt, you can always make a better ship that is tailor-made for the enemies you are facing.

It is possible and people have done it. You basically end up archiving your downloaded files, then burning them and the SDC installer to CD/DVD. No need to download twice. If both comps have internet access it should be no problems at all.

Basically your number of manu. social and research points are their maximum POSSIBLE that you can utilize. You can never utilize all three of these to their maximum. The two sets of sliders give you two ways of controlling how much of your three areas are utilized. Industrial Spending you want to keep as close to 100% as you possibly can. The bottom three sliders let you dictate what you want to focus on of those three. If you don't need to build

You put the trade module on a ship hull and send that ship (a freighter) to a planet of another race, thus establishing a trade route. You have to research the trade tech first as mentioned above though. Once you get this down, you can start using economic starbases, etc.

Well you can level up your ship in combat against minor races, or build larger ships with more HPs and defenses so that they are more likely to live and thus more likely level up. Most likely those damn Yor got all that experience beating another race or two into submission, then you came up against them

Well I'm pretty sure the enemy labels it's ships with progressing numbers as it makes newer and newer versions. I can't tell by your question if you are referring to the name of the ship or it's actual level of experience when you examine it. If it is the latter, your ships earn experience and level up (gain hit points, etc.) through combat. Hope this helps.

You can't upgrade the core ships. You need to click NEW and make the ship you want. Then click SAVE. A box pops up and you need to name your ship, and optionally put a description in the bottom half of the box. I think somewhere along the line you are doing something out of order. I'm guessing you are trying to upgrade a core ship or something. It might help if you exactly described how you are going about trying to make and save your ships.</font
