I find the game even more enjoyable with the AI at its maximum potential. At a setting of "normal" it is not using all of it's routines. Try difficulty setting of "tough" for the full AI effect

I'm not touching your bugs comments, but your video driver is 11 months old. Looks like you are using this one Link When you should be using this one Link

I wouldn't say it is game breaking at all, I've had great games completed with me winning and losing unrelated to the way this works. However I do understand your points and so do the devs. Here is a Link where a dev discusses this somewhat. They now it is not perfect, just better than the old system. If you click on the journals tab to the left, they post alot of the stuff they are noticing and thinking about fairly regularly.

I reported the missing core ships in the Glitch thread. However I was able to get the core ships from the Beam Weapon tech line to appear. It was just the mass drivers and missile weapon based core ships that wouldn't show up for me. This was in sandbox games, haven't checked in the campaign.

Well I try to have a good manufacturing planet every 1-2 sectors on the larger map sizes. Also, it seems that over-extending your reach is causing holes in your defenses and making it hard to keep your fleets covering your entire empire. This actually keeps the game from being a pushover I would think because you have to balance keeping your economy strong with how large of a navy you can field to protect your planets. I think these are some great i

As old as your video card is, it looks like you just need to get a newer one. It is bottoming out at the low-end of the scale on the minimum specs, and with no recent driver updates you will probably never get this game working on that card. It would be interesting to see if anyone has the same card as you and can run the game.

From most of the posts I've read, the crashes were due mostly to old drivers for gfx cards and dual-core processors. That does make an interesting theory, but the SD folks are pretty straight-forward and I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt until given a reason otherwise. I think the way the devs have put it is that you miss out on all the improvements and added content from updates if you pirate the game.

By fully lit, you mean that when one of your ships is by a star, the side furthest from the star is not dark (shaded)? Trying to figure out if it is just a matter of your personal preferences/expectations or if it is an actual problem. I haven't heard anyone having shading problems, might make sure all your drivers are up to date. I think there is a sticky thread relating to your processor, but sounds like a gfx card problem to me, if it is even a p

You need to run the Stardock Central program, select Games from the top left box, then you click on Gal Civ 2, and it will either pop-up a window prompting you to update or you can right click and select the choice for "Check for application updates" Hope that helps.

I regret not buying the collector's edition in the store. Something just doesn't feel right about not having a game on CD, even though I did burn the archives... Anyways, no regrets on the game itself at all. The game is great, being improved constantly, and the dev. interaction is unprecedented in my experience. Couldn't ask for more. I will probably take care of my buyers remorse and buy the collector's edition anyways <img src="http://images.s
