I know Brad has posted at least twice that they aren't married to the current system, it was just better than the previous one. I think the 1.1 patch will solve some of the issues mentioned here, and as open as they are to player feedback, it will eventually be to the satisfaction of most. I for one can't wait for the new patch

Well if you already had photon 1 & 2 researched, and it didn't show up for the AI, it is possible that he had the exact same techs researched as well. This is the main problem with using the Trade window as your substitute for espionage. It can be hard to figure out the techs the AI has when they are the same as you.
It is capped at 15 parsecs for all hull types. Also, most people use cargo hulls as they are alot cheaper and have the room to do it.
They are revamping the shipyard in the upcoming patch. Don't know if what you suggest will be included or bypassed, but you can read it at this Link
Well if your drivers aren't working correctly it might explain why you are having trouble. You could try omega drivers if they are available for your card. Keep in mind this forum is not SD's tech support. You can still email them, or chat on their IRC channel. Honestly this is a great game, and it's frustrating not to play it, but I would try a few more options before you give up. Keep trying! <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles
Updating to the latest patch and then running an old save game may not be workable. Also, can you post your debug info?
I don't think rolling back to old drivers will help at all. If anything try the new beta driver 84.xx I think...
Can you get the ships from the beam weapons line to show up? I reported this in the Glitch thread last week, because I couldn't get the mass driver or missile core ships to show up (sniper, missile boat), while the beam weapon core ships would. When I get off work tonight gonna have to check this out again, trying ctrl-shift-R as recommended. Haven't checked this in campaign, I'm just referring to sandbox games.
Without your debug info still, it's going to be hard to help you much. You can also try out the IRC channel, quite a few people have got their problems fixed there. With your system you may need to deal directly with tech support though.
I am running an FX 5200 as well and no problems at all there. Can you post your debug info? Are you using the latest patch? Also, you might need to set your virtual memory higher...
With Kryo's Hull System Mod I believe you can use the Dreadlord jewelery, etc. on your ships.
Do a search on the left for "default" and you will find all the help you need BK.
I generally trade everything except for my weapon, defense, logistics, and hull technologies away. Assuming I get a good deal and that I don't think the AI will rape me with it. After a while you can figure out which ones are the low end techs that you want to acquire or can safely get rid of. I admit though that sometimes I have to close the diplomacy window, look at 2-3 of my techs, and then return to the diplomacy window to dump them off. You sho
No, it's a bonus to loyalty, not 100% loyalty. Basically they are twice as hard to flip to another race.
Yeah, you really need a newer card. There are people with the MX 440, who had to upgrade their gfx card, I'm pretty sure it doesn't fully support 9.0c If I remember right, it is really a glorified GeForce2 meant for DirectX 7 but it has been awhile. If you are short on cash you can pick up an nvidia 5200 for really cheap now. It's what I use and the game looks great.
Double post.
Can you post your debug info? Will make it alot easier to help you.
Run the Stardock Central application. Click on the games button and then on Gal Civ 2. You need to right click on it and select uninstall from drop down menu.
This Link has the prerequisite techs for the core ships.
Not taking into account morale modifiers, the only thing I have noticed was tax rates. At a high enough rate you actually start losing population, don't know the threshold though as I prefer not to lose my population.
Also posting your debug info should help you get better help too.
Example #2 shows 2 cpus? That has caused some problems for people. It is dicussed in this Link and may need drivers updated.
Well without the debug files and/or links posted to them, how do you expect to get any help on this? From the posts I have seen, most of the problems are people with old video drivers, or old cards that don't support DirectX 9...
You need to swap some of your farms for morale boosting buildings. Adding farms increases your max population, so you made the problem worse. The ratio is generally 1-2 morale buildings per farm.
