Unless the slider setting is not staying where you put it, it is just user error. If you notice the map switching like this again and you haven't fiddled with it, then it might be a glitch. Glad you got it to your liking again

From the main menu, click on options, click on interface tab, one of the sliders is for tactical zoom scaling (forgot the exact wording, I think it's the bottom one). I'll check back later to see if that worked.
There is a great post called " Fun with data tables ." It has some great resources and also the required techs for all of the core ships. You can directly access the core ship prerequisite techs at this link . I'm going to try to figure out what is causing this problem tonight if I can. Too busy playing last night <img src="http://image
PeletierH, I have reported this glitch and updated my original post in the Glitch thread (#28 & #212). I have also responded to a dev post in a seperate thread ( Link here ). Basically I do have the core ships in my files, and using the cheat to unlock all research made them all show up. I am still trying to figure out exactly why the core ships aren't showing up. My current guess is something like miniaturization or a broken t
Ddhelp has caused an error in NVDD32.DLL Okay, did a little looking around (google) and looks like your direct draw is conflicting with your gfx card drivers possibly. You have the latest video drivers (81.98) but might want to try a clean install on them, a previous driver, or try the new beta drive
81.98 works for me. You can try dropping the anti-aliasing setting to get your movies to quit stuttering.
You CAN change this actually Click Options -> Interface then one of the sliders says "Tactical View Zoom Level" The default is 25 I think. EDIT: Re: Your last comment just made me think of the options under the video tab that lets you disable graphical features if you are having performanc
For your movies, you should be able to fix that by dropping your anti-aliasing setting in video options. Also, you need to post your WHOLE debug log file, not just that little portion. I'll check back to see if that fixes your movies, and for the rest of your debug info.
Ahhhh! This is mind-numbing, gonna have to take a break. Ack.
Try constructing a Hyperion Logistics System.
Hmm, are you still having trouble with those old drivers? I haven't looked at your driver specifically, but can't you use the latest nvidia driver 81.98? Are you having the same problem you had with your first post? You might try setting you desktop to 1024 x 768 resolution and then run the game in same, see if that helps. Also, try turning down anti-aliasing in your video options if you can access them ingame. Looks to me like your drivers, resolu
Ctrl-N allows you to reset the game at the beginning if you aren't happy with how things are laid out. You do not have to have cheats enabled to use it either BTW.
I think Brad has said that losing some of the campaign missions actually opens up different lines in the campaign, so you don't need to feel bad losing to the Dread Lords and retry the mission 100 times. Unless you want to.
Hyper- Link -ified.
UPDATE to post #28 in this thread. Ran the game in cheat mode and used shift-ctrl-R to unlock the tech tree. All of the ship designs were then available for all 5 ship types. I have already deleted the saves that originally had this problem, so will try to recreate. The thread at this Link has a little more info.
Yeah, Mike, post your debug.err info in a new thread detailing your problem bud.
Okay, just ran with cheats enabled, and used ctrl-shift-R to unlock the tech tree. All of the core ships for all 5 types of ships do show up in the game, so my download/install grabbed them all. I'm gonna have to run through again and see why the core ships didn't show up with the proper techs researched. I'm thinking there is an unlisted prerequisite tech like advanced hulls, miniaturization or something.
If you are having sound problems, check your sound drivers. For your movies try updating your gfx card drivers, and dropping the anti-aliasing setting (worked for me). If that still doesn't fix it, post your debug.err info.
My debug info is in the following folder, not sure if this is the default or not: C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2 Also the framerate throttling was added in the more recent patch, so assuming you are running the newest version of the game.... From the main menu select options, then video, then make sure the box for "throttle frame rate" is checked.
Well you should be able to get a refund if you simply can't get it running. However you should try the official tech support channels before giving up. I'd hate to see you miss out on this great game.
You might start a new thread and post your debug file. He seemed to fix his problem by changing the ambient light setting, so you might try that first.
Oooh, I will have to try this. I've stopped spending lots of time in the shipyard cause of the naming wierdness. I'll start using capital letters and maybe underscores if they're allowed. You should consider posting this in the Glitch thread if you haven't already.
You're welcome. Also, the upcoming 1.1 patch will make it even better so if/when you bump into something frustrating there is already a tweak on it's way
Well, I will give you a brief summary, but the tutorial videos and manual cover this... Core ships are there for you to use, and can't be upgraded. Any ships that you design will need to be saved with a name other than that of a core ship. Your designs are available in addition to the core ships. Your designs will nearly ALWAYS be better than the core ships. I only use a core ship maybe once or twice in the first 5-10 turns of the game,
I've never done it, but I think you have to have a high level of espionage against them. Don't know the exact amount, but you might try using the search function on the left for "espionage"
