Well, the game probably needs 1GB of RAM to run well. You have 1GB total, but not all of that is going to be used on a game since your OS uses some etc. 1GB of RAM is completely pathetic and you really shouldnt plan on playing any remotely modern game with that amount no matter what the box says. Its just not an acceptable amount of RAM for PC gaming. You really should upgrade that since RAM is cheap - no need to wait for a whole new computer.
Yeah WoW is becomming the base of every damn new thing; look at D&D 4th edition; if that`s not 'MMO, the pen&paper RPG' then I dunno what is.
Its not WoW. Remember that WoW did almost nothing new: those roles were already well established in the generation of MMORPGs before WoW. Its just a pet peeve of mine that so many people attribute so much to WoW when it really didnt start the vast majority of those ideas. Thats my real pr

Apparently Dota 2 is just going to be a direct port of Dota to a new engine. The game itself will essentially be identical - same heroes with the same skills on the same maps. Everything will be made to match the original game as closely as possible on the new engine. On top of that they are going to add the coaching and whatnot. Basically the machinery around the game will be new and greatly improved, with the game being the same. I personally will stay with

Yeah, theres an article about using City States as your main food engine here: http://apolyton.net/content.php/126-CITY-STATES-who-s-your-buddy Basically there are many conditions in which is it actually much more efficient to use City States to get your food than buildings and working tiles. The general idea is that the lack of hammers makes building buildings like Granaries a

Yeah, I dont think that the OP played the game much, or might have been on a silly easy difficulty. Fast paced? The game is slower paced than Civ4. Much slower paced. Everything takes longer to build since hammers are so hard to come by. Maybe if you play on Settler difficulty its fast paced, but not on anything much higher. Nothing to do with money? Uh, no. You can do everything you could in Civ4 with money (buy buildings, units), except mu
So the my friend who lives in Missouri calls me up today to tell me the store near by broke street date on Civ 5. But because it requires a steam activation he still can't play it. He's sitting there stuck with a copy of a game he's already paid for that he can't play because of some stupid DRM. Now I know some of you may argue that he shouldn't even technically have a copy of the game yet because of release date but that's not the point. The point is that unless you have In

Am I the only one who can't get AoWII or SM through Impulse? I follow the links and try to add the game to my cart, but it just says that my cart is empty no matter now often I try and add them. I can add AoW to my cart just fine. I'm thinking that they removed the ability for people to actually buy the games since they are only advertising AoWI and you can only find AoWI (and not AoWII or SM) with Impulse's built in search engine. They really shouldnt even have the
Well, if we only "watch" games and don't "buy" them, then how long before even independent design houses dry up and we have no PC games left at all to play except shooters and click fests?
No. Then all the companies that release unfinished games will be out of business. Small companies that release reasonably complete and polished games will be fine. And yes, small companies can release games that are solid at release. Stardock just chooses not t
My prediction is that once the furor dies down and people take a proper look at the "Day 0" release and as Stardock continues to improve the game, this negativity will be quickly forgotten.
I think that you are right, but only because non Stardock fans will be gone pretty fast. Like I said earlier, this reminds me a lot of Demigod's release. There were a lot of people saying the same stuff that you and other SD apologists were saying. They thought th
A handful of vocal malcontents does not equal a ruined reputation.
I'm not the one you are replaying to, but: Ive been following the reaction to this game on a number of independent websites with forums. The reaction of people to this game is VERY bad for Stardock. No conspiracy theories. Its just the raw reaction of people. I understand that there is always a lot of negative nonsense around a new game's release, but its balanced out if

I completely agree with PCGamer here. In fact, I've recommended to my own friends not to buy the game now (but to wait a few months). The game is simply not up to the standards that people expect right now. I have complete confidence that Stardock will get it up to acceptable standards in a few months. So I'll come back to it then and tell my friends to do the same. Frankly I wish that Stardock would stop shipping out products that are in a beta state.

Back to the original topic: I think that they could do a better job with getting the word out to the major websites. IGN lists the release date as "TBD" and does not include Elemental on their list of upcoming games. That should really be addressed. Gamespot does correctly list the release date, but the preorder info lists it as a $70 game instead of a $50 dollar game since they are linking to the limited edition for some reason. This probably makes the gam

I thought that the original Starcraft''s mechanics were boring and stale when it came out (compared to say Total Annihilation and Myth). The buzz is that SC2 really hasnt gone much beyond what the original was in terms of mechanics. So a definite pass for me. I may take a second look if I hear the right buzz after its released though. I really wish that Blizzard would do something new for a change instead of releasing really well polished, but derivati

Or it could mean that there arent many games total. The "Krazikarl Fight Club" game has a low number of games in its browser (0 in fact), but that doesnt mean that its a healthy game. We know that your idea is flawed anyway since if it was really that games were just filling up fast, then he would have no problem finding a game since so many would be opening up at any given moment for him to join. Regardless, we know how many games there are since its displayed in the serv

There are definitely times when there are more games, but really this game no longer has a healthy population of games to select from. You can find the prime times, at which you might have 10 or so games to choose from (that doesnt include games from foreign countries where you will get booted for high pings). At off peak times there are going to be very very few games going as you have said. I really dont try and play at offpeak times anymore unfortunately since its just
Stardock has been around for almost 20 years. It has always taken the position that the best way to work with communities is to encourage "toxic users" to go elsewhere. One can go all the way back to the Stardock news groups (which I believe are still up) and find people insisting that Stardock will go out of business because they don't act "professionally" to toxic users. ...
However, I also disagree in part with Krazikarl. Games focused on the teenage demographic, like FPSs and many RTSs tend to have a larger proportion of immature users, who do tend to sometimes get out of hand. This is however, not acceptable behavior, regardless if it is the internet or not. People are accountable for their own behavior, regardless of what medium it is displayed through. SD seems to have taken the approach of respecting our right to monitor ourselves, by typically not e

While I certainly agree that many posters could be a good deal more respectful, SD has also done a poor job on these forums. Listen, its the internet. There are going to be some people who are rude and obnoxious. Its a fact of life. Starting all these threads whining and whiners (ironic, no?) and having SD employees throw hissy fits about that kind of stuff is just amateur stuff. Frogboy himself was pretty much starting flamewars with people until he burned out
People continue to think of this game incorrectly. This is a team game. Everyone who is complaining about "balance" thinks of this game as 1 demigod against another single demigod. That's not the way this game goes.
Its not so much that they think of it as a 1v1 game, its that a 1v1 situation is really the only fully testable situation since anything else gets very complex and you cant really test well. Yeah, I'd just like to pile on with two thoughts: 1) Another Reg counter? Reg had better be getting a buff. 2) I'm hesitant about the switch places ability also. It just seems to be open to all kinds of frustrating laming (onto mines, into a tower farm plus chain stun etc). I suppose that things can be done about that (like including a stun/grasp immunity for a few seconds after warp) but its going to be tricky. I like the general thoughts behind that

Reg is a below average DG. He has some utlity abilities that are nice and might justify using him in some larger games. But in general, your team would be better served if it had no Regs on it. A lot of players are under the strange impression that Reg is a really good DG. Thats why you see all these "nerf Reg" threads. But really I think that most good players have realized that he is actually pretty poor in general at most aspects of the game. He is onl

The whole point of random to me is that you might get the advantage of a nice double DG (double UB being a nice one). But you also take the risk of getting stuck with a bad DG or one that you arent good with. Its a tradeoff, so its fine with me. Doubling a strong DG can be an advantage if the opponent doesnt know its coming. If you go say TB or Reg and they pull out a double UB its going to be a very long game for you. So doubles can be an advantage if you dont

I didnt read the whole thread, so this person might already be in here, but DO NOT play with drvali. After suicide dying twice (both of which he blamed on teammates) he proceeded to announce that he was going to afk the rest of the game as a result. He wouldnt even concede when the rest of us on his team did. He's a bad player who will intentionally ruin games. Boot him automatically if you ever see him.
flame away, but i know imba when i see it
If you think that Reg is overpowered, then no, no you dont. Reg is a below average DG. Oak, Sedna, Erebus, and UB are all definitively better in the vast majority of situations. Every DG can take down a tower pretty fast if they arent being harassed and Snipe's low damage make it a mediocre skill.
