Yes, Impulse also downloads a lot faster.Still got a few problems, though: Some game updates aren't on impulse when they're out on SDC; Impulse doesn't use the user selected installation path...
Faster? I've had it running for like 2 hours to update my GalCiv2 and it still says "Starting download". When will it start?

I'm not saying that the new plents are bad, just that I keep getting screwed over with the fact that I start around maybe two or three other systems and I can't colonize any of them. By the time my ships have the range to get to other planets they're already taken. And Rataan, I already do that. But when it take hundreds of weeks to research the colonization techs it kinda' screws over anything else you want to do.
Is there a way to set the planets in DA? Like, to take out the planets that need improvments. I hate having a lot of habitable worlds but then not being able to colonize any of them because they're all uber toxic or underwater. Even with my race's ability to colonize most basic planets I get screwed over. Any help would be nice. Thanks. -Spencer
Once again, it's Kyro to the rescue. Thanks. -Spencer
Hey, quick question. Is there any way to transfer your ship designs from GC2 to DarkAvatar? -Spencer
DAMN RIGHT! I'll drink to that! -Spencer
There are so many more types of governments than those three. I beleive the system they have works, except that there's no real incentive to pick one or the other. Personally, my empire is universalist simply because the abundence of bonuses. Why not have something like communisim in there? If they tweek it to make the political styles more important then that would be great. There is a mod that gives you the Imperialist and one other but I can never get it to work. -Spencer
Starwars Empire at War has great space battles, even though the game was very simplistic and I was dissapointed everytime I played it. But it took me a long time to put it away, because the space battles besides looking awesome looked just very 'decent', things that were happening (fighters vs capital ships, big and small weapons, targeting features) made sense, creating i
I've had starbases take on frigites by themselves. Now, granted I tend to play on nomral, I feel that if you don't like them then don't build them. But then you can't flip an opposoing planet. Besides, having a fleet(even if only a few ships) nearby as a backup is just commen sense. -Spencer
Something that is easy and quick to code is one thing that's been bugging me ever since GC2 was out and is the inflexible surrender feature. I'd like to have an option to randomize or make race specific the probability a race will take its chances and surrender or fight to the death. I couldn't have said it better myself. What I really hate is w
Not to mention that Ender's Game is a terrible book. -Spencer
The amount of hps and whatever defence and weapon you put on a starbase does not scale well with the bigger ships out there. That wouldnt be such a big problem if it wasnt for the fact that starbases always fights alone where as ships are in fleets so a starbase will have a very tough time fighting of fleets of ships. Except that the enem
I've never had porblems with this fact. I take it, and then just build a bunch of labs to beef up my research at the get go. What I do hate is that my custom race gets a level 10 planet as it's home world but some of the other races get like level 13 worlds. -Spencer
Yamota, you do know that you can put defenses and weapons on starbases...right? The AI(both empires and pirates) tend to attack my starbases a lot. You build up the starbase defenses tech and starbase weapons. After loading on some defenses and weapons my starbases last for a long time. They are useful tools, you just need to know how to impliment them. And Azrune, shut up. You can't be tatical in space....it's not logical. Besides, the game isn't about fighting. -Spencer
Trade helps as well. Not always. My last game, for example, was bad. I lost, lost bad. I had about 7 of my 9 trade routes into Torian planets and then, all of a sudden, they attacked me and took over. Actually, I surrendered to the Terrans just to be a dick. Either way, sometimes they just want you dead. -Spencer
And what shall this document do for smaller, less powerful Empires? How will it help us? -Spencer
Actually I am glad that there is this element of uncertainty. Before DA, all you had to do was keep an eye on your diplomatic relations and you would never be caught unaware. That seemed to eliminate most of the tension in the game. Not true. Even being able to keep an eye on your relations still did you no good if the empire didn't like you. I'v
I tend to build large and medium(I only have 2 huge ships which I did on purpose) because my enemies tend to build lots of small ships. Small vs. large tends to end in the large victory. My fleets build up huge amounts of exp. because they hardly ever take any damage fighting a few small ships. -Spencer
I like how they got pissed at me even though Iso was having a friggin' affair.
I got one for you. My current game has three races left(Me, Iconians, and Drath), large galaxy, and we've already wiped out the Thalan and Drengin. I've finally allied with the Drath who only got spared because they're allied with the Iconians. But now, well into the year 2242, I can't get the Iconians to ally with me. I can't get them past friendly. They used to be my allies in the early years ofthe game before some moron said something about the emperor's mistress. Now I can't get them past fr
Dude, that's an easy influence win right there haha. -Spencer
Moosetek, just blow them out of the galaxy....I hate them so much. I've found the most difficult race to get an alliance with has been the Iconian Refuge. They're just stubborn I guess. -Spencer
I don't use small ships very often. I have a few defenders here and there and if my scientist discover and precurser Corvettes i'll use them. But my fleets are all medium or larger(throwing in a capital ship with a few medium frigites really screws them over). As for the money, I build up a massive economy before hand with trade routes and resource starbases. Only time I ever run low on money due to ships is if i'm in a very large scale war and require more ships. Otherwise two or three fleets n
While waiting for your population to recover, pull back your forces and let the drengin go on the offensive. Leave one or two of your planets unprotected so they bring transports. Over time, their population will go down, while yours will go up, and up, untill your ready to invade again. I don't have any population porblems, they just have
The pirates tend to show up later in my games when i've established several trade routes....which end up being the main targets. They don't tend to pick fights with my fleets(mostly comprised of Capital ships) but they do end up gunning down every freighter I build. They are grossly overpowerder though(my fleets have 24 logistics right now and they have something around 40+), and I can't seem to fight back. Although they do tend to dissapear after a while. -Spencer
