There needs to be independent empirical studies regarding whether there is a casual correlation between DRM and Piracy, as well as DRM and sales figure for games. Maybe such a study will put to rest once and for all whether DRM is an effective mechanism in dampening the effect of piracy on sales of games.

I don't think there will be a Elderscrolls 5 anytime soon. From what i read, Fallout 3's AI is an improved version of Oblivion's AI. But you have to give them Bethesda credit, they are not exactly as wealthy as EA, but then they did a fine job with their own dev games even though it is not perfect.
Piracy and the Cracker/Hacker scene will always exists as long as software exists be it they are for games, commercial/government/military softwares, network security hacks/compromises. People do it for the challenge of it, but the sad thing is, it was not meant to be at today's level after the release of Bit Torrent. You can find tutorials on reverse engineering, computer virus writing, writing buffer overflow, etc. I guess it is too late to put the genie back in the bott
One thing i always get confused about with starbases is the following, if i have starbases around planets and i have ships parked on planets, say my planet is under attacked; my ships would scramble to defend it, but i want my starbase to join in too. Soooo are there techs i have to reseach to do that, like make my fleet and starbases to be in synch in defending
THere are others you can download, i mean online tv viewing programs. One is call PPLive, the other is call PPStream. Google around and you guys should find it. They keep popular stuff on their servers for awhile, so hopefully what you guys are looking for will still be there. Keep in mind that it has stuff from Asia too, since it is mostly serves the Asian sector of the North American market.
I agreed, the range of the starbases should be able to hit targets between ends of the gravity well. I mean, that is the point of having a starbase, so that if you build it on the edgo of your gravity well and you opponent's fleet is directly at the opposite end, the starbase should able to hit it. Yep, and also have lots of fighter defenses capability for it too.
the armour on those pics looks so bland and boring. I went to their website, and found out that it is a hex based TBS. The only problem is...having TBS games move on from hex based already. Even if not, at least make it look 3D.
I thought TBS type game is like Risk/Chess with a million variables involved. At least the play outcome reflects a person's ability to think strategically. In military circles, they used turn based board games as simulated war games to test plausible military scenarios, well that was before they utlize computers as a tool for war game simulation. I am sure both types of RTS and TBS are involved, and i am sure they don't think RTS type of war game simulation is some kin
I think it does, because when you face starbases, your ships is like only one third the size of it.
i used Vista before, the way it works, i mean where everything is felt weird, but there were not any problems for me. What were you people trying to make your computer do with vista installed???? if you have problems, why don't you get a book on vista, something like vista hacks or a vista the complete reference. I am sure once you know its secrets, you can make it tick and sing and dance for you instead of the othet way around. :D
But when i talked to Shawn from STarWraith, i think he would like to go with you guys originally, and i think he would still like the idea presently. He only went to gamersgate because he thought they were more friendly towards indie developers. I think he is still open to do the idea of going with you guys presently from my recent emails with him. The flight sims is worse than the TBS game genre. I mean..it feels like it is dying, other than Egosoft recent release tit
I spoke with the developer at StarWraith 3D Games over email, and suggested to him that he should get Stardock to distribute his games. He told me that he has repeatedly try to contact Stardock but he has not heard an answer back so far. How come?? I thought Stardock helps with indie developers to publish and distribute their games, and Starwaraith has been able to self fund their games through the many iterations of their space flight sim series.
Some of those Wii gizmos are very good in being the cheaper alternatives in aiding scientific research.
I think this thread should be updated as each of the 3 mini-expansions comes out and afterwards when the major expansion comes out for the campaign, so that newbies and regular players will be keep abreast of the changes.
Kyro as a suggestion, you and the devs might want to have a separate section on the forum just for game devolopment discussion. what i mean is the techncal aspects of it. I know that Ron Luggae is also doing a CS degree and is interested in doing stuff or working for stardock in a future date probably on the game development side of things. Also i am sure there are others in the mod community who might want to give constructive contribution to various pc game making discussi
I think there are suppose to be 3 mini/micro expansions and 1 major expansion for the campagin later. That is what i read on a lot of preview websites for the first micro expansion.
For the wheel of Time series, i think if one looks at all the 11 books together as a whole, then it feels epic, but from one novel to another, no, the epicness doesn't come in. I think after the 6th book, everything afterwareds just builts up towards the last book, which i think people can skip a lot of it and would nto lose much.
i think it would be more important if the galciv series has elements of planetary and space tactical combat as well as elemetns of carrier fleets combat and oribital bombardments. but then this would have to wait for Galciv 3.
that was suppose to be star trek reboot. Well i guess Kirk has more an interesting life when he was young then probably mellowed out a bit when the original series timeline came around. :D
The only thing i trust Square Enix to do is publish good Japanese RPGs, like i would only trust Betheseda to make quality non linear RPGs, when Betheseda publishes Star Trek games for all platforms, their PC ST title was a total disaster. I am not sure if they were to blame or Mad Dog Developers were to blame. This is like asking id Software, the maker of Doom series to make a sequel to Baulder's Gate, or Egosoft to develop an RTS.
I don't think it is anything wrong if Elemental is either a Heroes of MIght and Magic or Age of Wonders or GC2 set in a fantasy kingdom knock off, afterall, it is a sci-fi/fantasy game and there are certain things to be expected. When Lost Empire Immortals was coming out, my friend saw the trailer and said "man..can't people think of anything more original for the game's background premise, that there is a war because of some ancient divine powerful beings getting pissed off at ea
securom, does it automatically screws up your system. I mean EA probably forced Maxis to rigged Securom to allow a max of 3 activitation. I do know Fallout 3 has securom, but to what extent it is intrusive to a computer system after installation or uninstallation, i can't say. I would love to hear more about the issue.
If microsoft makes it 64 bit only..it will force corporate client to switch. they can set up some deadline for it, so that clients have time to switch.
i want to see tactical space, ground combat planetary bombardment Space Carrier battles. More options for epsionage
Someday i should try all 4 games, (fallout 1, 2 and 3 plus Fallout tactics). acutally, i tried Fallout tactics briefly, but then gave it to my friend, as in i gave him my copy and told him not to return it to me. Because i never had the time of the day to devote my attention to it. I guess my brief impression of playing Fallout Tactics was that it was addictive but frustratingly hard. So i thought the other 2 games must be the same. Have both Mor
