Reply to Just want to mod the custom race portraits and such in Modding GalCiv2 Forums

When customizing a major race at the start of a new game (for yourself or an AI), you can click on the arrow buttons below the portrait and logo to choose from all those in the game and in the My Documents\My Games\GC2DarkAvatar\Gfx folder. I tried addiing in images to this folder, and I still get the default portraits. This is all I want to do - when customizing a race be able to use any picture as their portrait that I can throw in there. That's all.

Thanks Belanos! Can I ask you: what is that a picture of? Some kind of rock beast? Obviously not a Babylon 5 fan. That's a Vorlon. It's what I've named the custom race I play with. A Vorlon? Must not be a Babylon 5 fan! For anyone that doesn't know what mine is, you must not be a Halo fan! I guess not.

I played my last meteverse game on normal. The AI wouldn't go for a peace treaty, instead preferring to be exterminated. I like to spore every planet than take away all their buildings so the new planets only cost me I think 15 bc. The planets drain your treasurey if you spore them anyway. I don't research hardly any diplomacy tech. I think that makes the AI stupid. A normal AI probably would have desperately gone for a peace treaty but instead is too stubborn if you have no diplomacy. JEEZE! You should have the ability to break the speed limit! What are they going to do? Them:"You have broken the law! Blahblahblah!" ME: "SO SUE ME! SIC 'EM BOYS!!" *Doom rays flash around the room and the bodies of their corpses lie dormant* I think the reason for the 5 parsec per turn speed limit is because space has somehow changed so you can't fold it as much. You would have to essentially take your argument up with God.

Think about it: 5 parsecs a turn (week) is still unbelievably fast!!!!!! doing some calculations, 5 parsecs a week is equivelent to 16.4385 light years per week, or 573,947,879,142.9 miles per hour. The speed of light is 669,600,000 miles per hour (assumming 186,000 miles per second). So at 5 parsecs per week, you are traveling through space at a rate that is about 857 times faster than the speed of light. So like the guy said in the G4 review: quit your fraggin belly a

Hi. I don't know a thing about modding. All I want to do is be able to use any kind of portrait on the race select screen and in the background when you talk to that civilization, as I don't like the available selection of portraits for a custom race. Also if I could mod what they say that would be cool, like "prepare to be assimilated" every time you talk to them. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Mega Events bug??? in Bug Reports GalCiv2 Forums

I have played a few metaverse games now and I have the latest version of DA (the 72 one I think). Anyway, I have checked for there to be no mega events at all during galaxy setup (or unchecked - basically not wanting any mega events), because I didn't want them potentionally unbalancing my games. Its the same thing with the game supreme commander, its not the prettiest game but it sure makes the CPU run for its money. Thats the truth!! The game is largely playable, but I turn all the details way down, shadows off, etc. The result, is a rather ugly but still very enjoyable game!! Clearly games have outstripped CPU technology. Oh well, I guess games are the driving force for enhancing this technology.

This may seem really retarded to ask, but can there be an update with more profile pics when creating a new race. The last 6 are the same three pictures except in different colors, there's no uniqueness to any of the profile pics that aren't the 10 main races. Or allow the ability to easily add in a JPG picture file, so you can have your custom race represented by any picture without resorting to modding!!
