Could also be an experience system for ships, that's something they have talked about on occasion.

Sounds like fodder for a good mod!
Example: You plan to declare war on someone soon. Trade them tons of resources in exchange for techs, then revoke the treaties. You anger them greatly and they declare war, but you still have the technologies.
If you use the Vigilance trait you can pretty easily get seven economic starbases around a planet. Six in a ring plus one close in next to the planet itself.
Yes, it is.
Pizza Lag in Updates / second?
They do stack. If you have extended range starbases you can put a LOT of them around a planet.
Starbase building bit is changing in v1.7, hopefully out tomorrow. I do understand what you're talking about w the starbase building ships, I experience the same problem. One trap I personally fall into is the desire to make a zillion economic staircases, surrounding my planets with a ring of them that boost production and such to ungodly levels. What I have been experimenting with lately is investing that effort into just killing my opponents.
Q: What is the goal of this mod, why would I want to use it?
Space for space lots of things cost more than fighter bays.
Build more expensive ships.
Have faith, things are continually improving. Just because this expansion didn't have your hot-button feature doesn't mean there isn't lots of good content. Think happy thoughts.
I agree, it generally seems better to carry more shielding.
I play with uncommon planets and uncommon habitable planets. With such settings on Huge I use seven AI players and we all end up with something in the 5-10 planets range depending on how aggressively folks expand.
Woot! Infinite durability!
Seen this off and on for a long time.
You can be mercilessly practical, but trying to spread peace and love through superior firepower just doesn't work...
Been this way a long time, I would have to say it is working as intended. You can do cool stuff with it though, makes hunting for approval boosting tiles interesting.
So it used to work and now does not. Hah! I'm not crazy! /does happy dance Wait, I need / want this thing to work... /does unhappy dance
I am unable to duplicate your success with the Stellar Forge. It doesn't work for me. I am convinced we have differing versions of the game, but dam-if-I-know how. I base this reasoning on the fact that the Stellar Forge displayed in your video shows +10% Hit points AND +10% maintenance reduction even with zero adjacency bonuses. The version in my game does not show maintenance reductions until it receives adjacency bonuses. Steps Taken: Usin
I am not sure the maintenance is working either. If I build small ship design X it has a maintenance of 4 / turn. Then I attach the Stellar Forge with an implied 30% maintenance discount and build an identical ship, it still has a maintenance of 4 / turn. What am I missing?
