I like the idea of not knowing which shards you will have at the beginning of the game. The last thing I want is a typical TBS game where doing "ABC" will give you "XYZ" only to find out that "ABC" isn't as good as "ABD" and that you're the only noob that doesn't know that. I think the game should be decided based on who is able to cope with their situations better, now who knows the best string of actions to execute.

Thanks for the answers Raven, though actually I asked my brother last night and got the same answer(he made me feel like it was a dumb question). As far as how someone chooses to play a game, I really don't think its anyone's business. I dunno why I do it, makes me feel powerful I guess. Like even normally, its pretty easy to win civ, even on the higher difficulties. However missing out on thing bugs me. I like t
There will be multiplayer but the game is not going to be balanced for it if it takes away an inkling from the single player solo experience. I personally can't wait for all the MPer whines when the game is released and this and that isn't in their favor. lol I love a game company that doesn't cater to the multiplayer crowd who does nothing but scream balance balance balance. I hope the game is lopsided as hell in the single player game and there are factions that can be more powerful than th
Quoting Frogboy, reply 3 I'm with BlackhatHedgehog on much of this. Each city costs more to build than the next. It's just that you start with so much $$. I popped it up to 1000 to start to give myself a little extra time to start doing a proper job on the balancing of the cities because, the economic buildup is ridiculously slow right now. There won't be a "tax" system per say. Inst
I like your counter idea though if a player uses the torch and burn ability then the ai should be very harsh against him from then on. Kind of like we did Hitler.
I would have liked an Elemental T-Shirt for sure for $80 bucks. They can keep that ole puter dragon and give me a T-Shirt 2X please with a long tail and no not the kind of tail you preverts are thinking and going to make up stupid silly posts about after this.
Well that's a good point. Torch and Burn. Probably the worst possible atrocity. Your allies turn on you. Your followers question you. In a desert, poisoning wells is considered truly wrong. In a wasteland, the same can be said of burning food.
Well if you use invisible units to do it with your allies and followers won't know.
Ahhh this was my favorite thread before I left and everybody LOVED me here. Looks like I was pretty much righton with my suggestions and ideas afterall. Turtling will be crushed by lack of food. Good job Brad. Lots of different ways to win besides conquer....good good good I suggested that one. Multiplayer is not going to influence the way the single player game is going to be built....good good great! There will be a spell of making...good good just as I wished. Ahhhh feels good to be
I agree it's going to lead to torch and burn strategy. Just run in torch the crops and run away. Wonder what little units will be best for this strategy? Something invisible and fast? BTW does this one have any multilayer maps like Age of Wonders Shadow Magic? or even Master of Magics ethereal realm? Magic Roads? stuff like that?
Member No.3,557,854 Karma+21 July 10, 2010 5:49:42 PM well, the multiplayer component of the game is already suffering because of single-player.
Well that's excellent to my ears. I'm glad Brad is living up to his promise because I want a well thought out single player experience and couldn't care less about a MP element at all. He could have left it out like he did for GC & GC2 for all I cared. Good job Bra
When I hear city spamming I remember Civilization I as how you could make 30 one level cities and do better than making several higher level ones. I remember seeing a screenshot of someone who did that.
I agree with Raven. If anything play the game in a more challenging nature instead of godmoding through it at least the first few 100 games.
Anyone know when the next beta 2 will open up?
I just gots me anew vidja card for the my pc. Its a Ati Radeon 5770HD with 1gig ram and it rocks! Mass Effect 2 looked good on my old card now it looks like im watchin a friggin digtal movie!
I just got one also from NewEgg for $139.00 free shipping. ;) Well I ordered it yesterday anyways hehe it will be here next week. I also got a 320mb external hard drive USB powered so I can backup these gigs of patches and mods I've downloaded over 10 years. lo
Otherwise multi-player at least will be full of plate armour wearing, broadsword carrying sovereigns.
You must remember Brad said that this game wasn't going to cater to multiplayer whatsoever so it really doesn't matter what happens in multiplayer as it's the single player game that is most important and major balance isn't required (if you ever played MOM you'd know why). Games that are not balanced for multiplayer make the best solo single player
Quoting GhostKingGeorge, reply 27 how do i get mom? Don't do it. I recently tried to play Fallout 2 and Starcraft becuause I had fond memories of them, but when I installed them I was appalled at the graphics and animation and resolution, they look absolutely decrepit. You just can't play old games.
He ^ doesn't know what he's
Ah, my favourite game of all time! Still blind as baseball bats and your IQ's are dipping even futher. But, you'll just have to wait and see and when you start crying but, but, but, Brad you said. I'll be around to tell you "I told you so" ;)
Oh well it's a stupid move on their part if they implement that stupid rule like AOW did. If you notice there's no AOW III.
Take for example GalCiv 2's trio of offensive and defensive stats.
oh whew some big game changing feature lol and if you had read this line in my post:
Oh sure you might hit on one or two things they will change based on beta feedback, but, not the core engine itself more than likely only a few lines of code and some stats for particular units or buildings.
If it's so
You're reading too many books again AIAndy. I said THE MOVIE didn't say anything about any books. Things change from books to movies in case you didn't know. ;)
If anything I would expect more of a rock, paper, scissors type of combat as a core feature.
