It's all in my signature line. @JeremyG, most of the 'canned' races get ability bonuses that are out of reach for custom race creation. Take a look at the Drath, Krynn, and Yor stats for extreme examples. Spore. When you absolutely, positively got to kill every motherfrakker in the galaxy. Accept no substitutes.

The only thing you can do is turn off all mega events - under Game Options on the first "new game" screen, uncheck the Mega Events box. They're not hard to get rid of if you can get to them in their first few turns of existence, though, especially before they have built any starships. If you can find their new home planet, Amalda, just load up as many transports as you can and go for it. Their soldiering value is insane crazy, so use one of the invasion options like Tidal Disruption tha

Here's one more - the game I had going on at the same time as my earlier Krynn post. Spore. When you absolutely, positively got to kill every motherfrakker in the galaxy. Accept no substitutes.

I keep a small fleet of space liners with 2-3 colony modules around to beef up population after I spore enemy worlds. It helps the economy and also makes the planets harder to retake. By the time I control > 2/3 of the galaxy, though, my economy is normally on enough of a roll that I don't need to repopulate, and the threat of reinvasion is much smaller than the click hassle factor. I just start building fertility clinics and forget the transports after that. <a href="http://altmeta.kry

They do require techs - as you research up the weapons and armor trees, the default ships become available. If you use those things, though, be sure to strip off all of their weapons, armor, sensors, and life support and put on your current best components. And some engines, for Pete's sake. Honestly, when I read your title, I was hoping you had found a way to keep them from cluttering up your ship list. I don't mind having them around as templates to use if I want, but I hate

It increases food production , which is different from the population cap. The cap is determined by the size of the planet. The amount of food produced depends on the planet's colony type, farm level, and food distribution centers. A guide to the planetary cap can be found here in the GalCiv2 wiki. Be careful with the wiki information, though, it hasn't been updated since the game came out. I have no problems with building

How did this thread get down to page 5?!? I'm here to rescue it with a pretty atypical game, for me. Krynn, for something different, and I hadn't posted with them yet; Diplomatic victory, to take a break from conquest; Medium galaxy, because I don't have time for anything bigger these days; and Maso because the damn thing reset without me noticing. This should help keep the Krynn ahead of those steenkin' Torians, at least... <img src="http://img511.imageshack.us/img511/2678/tournament2i

Marshall's oldest character, WhiskeyTangoFoxtrot, reporting *gasp* for duty *koff koff* sir! *wheeze* [takes big hit from oxygen cylinder] Hooh! Better! Hey, I heard that snicker. Let me just tell you, I've been conquering planets since before your game CDs were even pressed! Version 1.0X.2, baby! I know I haven't posted a score in almost a year, but I could anytime. If I wanted. No, that's not rheumatism, it's a battle scar... What was I talking about? Oh, have you heard about

Wilfred Owen, I envy you the ability to trade freely like that--and thank you for reminding me of one of my favorite early 20th Century poets. What passing-bells for these who die as cattle? Only the monstrous anger of the guns... Just make sure you don't personally lead any invasions in the last week of a military victory!

How the frak did that game go on so long without one of the AI factions going for the tech victory? Do they not do that at lower difficulty levels? Last time I accidentally left tech victory on I almost lost that way. Spore. When you absolutely, positively got to kill every motherfrakker in the galaxy. Accept no substitutes.

I think it belongs in the off-topic area. Which already takes up too much space in the recent posts area as it is.

The Gerontocracy! That's the term I was originally trying to think of. Here's the wikipedia entry: A gerontocracy is a form of oligarchical rule in which an entity is ruled by leaders who are significantly older than most of the adult population. Often the political structure is such that political power within the ruling class accumulates with age, so that the oldest hold the most power. Those holding the most power may not be in formal leadership

NOOOO! You just got Simon and Garfunkel stuck in my head with that title! Make it stop! You must write more immediately! Homeward bound I wish I was Homeward bound Home, where my thought's escaping Home, where my music's playing Home, where my love lies waiting Silently for me ...Okay, I had to Google the exact lyrics, but the tune is now irreversably lodged in my brain. Darn my parents and their infernal record-playing machine... <a href="http:

Pay one of them to attack the Altarians. [edit] Of course, that may not be possible if everyone has chosen their alignment already. So instead, park a troop transport in the middle of someone else's sphere of influence, upgrade it to a transport that has no engines, and gift it to another faction. Better yet, do this with about ten transports. I haven't had to try this yet, but it's on my list of sneaky ways to attempt to stir things up. <im

Were you using worchestershire sauce as an embalming agent or something!? I've never seen that event, it sounds pretty cool. I wonder how it works on the Yor? Undead Killer Robots? That's a movie just dying to be made. On a somewhat more serious note, I've never seen this kind of good/evil choice span more than one turn - is it a new type of mega event? <a href="http://altmeta

Sorry if I'm stating the obvious - I don't mean this sarcastically at all, just for the sake of completeness: Nano Rippers 'float' to the top of the list because they do more damage than some other types. Have you looked for the other weapons on the list below Nano Rippers?

My husband first started Gal Civ, but gave it up after a while. I believe he fell out with sombody on these forums. Now he is back on his favourite flight simulators. He is an ex military pilot. I remember those threads and thought it was a real shame. Please give Vulcan a shout-out from the rest of us.

Muzzlehead, I just went back and looked at the picture of your rig - that is a sweet, sweet setup. I'm still doing 5-6 gallon batches and bottling all of it, but I do well in my club competitions and love every minute of it. I like the "geezer" joke - and I actually do look forward to geezerhood in some ways.

I should add that I don't feel I've earned the title 'geezer' yet. Journeyman Curmudgeon would be a better description. Wait'll my kids are teenagers, and I have to yell at their friends to get off my lawn, that's more like geezer territory. Spore. Damn, Cap'n, I can pretty much just point to your reply and say "Me too." I'm also 37, two kids, wife has no comprehension of gaming but watches trash tv. The only arcade game I ever was decent at was Spy Hunter - don't think I ever went quite two hours, though. I also liked Galaga and Missile Command. I also tend to get in about the same amount of game time; either about an hour or I skip a night because I'm too tired to play. My real favorite games were all tabletop
