the diagonal lines do not continue all the way down, was that by design? I liked it that way, especially on the taller version. I experimented with full lines; that really looked better with colors closer to the background, but I wanted to keep the brighter gold. Hmmm... I have tried twice the height, and it just looked too gawky. I tried a few different sizes, actually, and here's the one I like best. I think it shows off the 1st place medal quite nicely now.

I build one farm per planet, no matter what the size. I never build farms on farm bonus tiles, and I never build any farms on 'home' planets where the default max pop is 12b. I let my farms build all the way up to advanced, so my galaxy-wide pop limit will be 13b per planet (12b for 'home' planets). I also build one morale building per planet. The term 'economic starbase' is a bit misleading. Econ starbases give planets in their area of influence bonuses to production and research - not a straight $$ bonus. You can put up to three trade-enhancing modules on an econ starbase, but it only provides a trade bonus to freighters in their area of influence - once a freighter leaves that area, the bonus is gone. Plus, a bonus to the piddly amount you get from trade in the latest versions of the game is negligible, anyway. So it's not s
