Everyone knows the Subspace Blaster is crap because it's bigger and does less damage than the tech before it, Disruptors III. But have any of you actually used them on a ship? The visual effect in the tactical screen rocks! No screenshot; my X-1 Frigate bit the dust before I thought to take one, so you'll have to find out for yourselves. My only beef with Turtledove is that all of his characters think alike. They do a lot of thinking, and they all kind of turn into the same person after a while. I wish he had some characters whose heads he didn't get into, to make them more of an unknown. Why not? My plan for the banner for whatever team I end up on was to use the League banner and put the team logo where the planet is. That should be fairly easy to do for all of the teams. When playing games with tech-trading off, this means that an alliance victory is close to impossible to achieve, yet it still gives almost no points. Not necessarily. I like the idea of allowing everyone to play and the lowest score being dropped when there are more than four. I use a program called Adobe ImageReady to make animated gifs - it's an older program that came with Photoshop when it was a standalone product. Scraping the bottom of the creativity barrel today, I came up with a banner concept that doesn't really look like the empire banners at all except in size. I thought trying to include all of the aliens would be too busy, and including some would leave out others, so I went for a cleaner look instead.
