I love your ideas. As for autoupgrading starbases? A better idea might just be to allow a constructor to have multiple modules for more price and then you can upgrade more than one thing per constructor. I agree, late game it gets to just be a game of micromanaging constructors and trying to build a defensive wall or overwhelm your enemy with influence, I have dozens of constructros being completed and sent per turn and it does get to be a bit annoying.

That idea about having different aliens on your planets and moving them around and colonizing planets with the right combination of races for racial bonuses. (Put the smarties on science outposts, the horny aliens on new worlds to breed fast.) Is AWESOME. I wish we got that, eventually. I know, I know what you just said...still...awesome sounding features.

I recently played a game where nobody ever invented beam weapons, which was an interesting change. Mostly armor, mass drivers, and missiles, by the time things got hot, lasers were too low on the tech tree to be brought up fast enough. I found it interesting and fun to cover my ships with armor to counter the enemie's mass drivers, and use missiles against them because most of them had very little Chaff tech.

I would really, really, really LOVE to be able to colonize PQ 0 planets. (What Terraforming really sortof refers to.) Of course, for high cost, involving sending colonists, building infastructure. Perhaps akin to constructors you'd have to send waves of terraformers to a planet, each one upping it's quality by a set ammount...or something. I dunno, but it should be pricey and take a long time but be an option.

The game doesn't use too many resources? Have you played a game on gigantic? I do admit, that mp3 player would be kindof cool, but really there is no real need, just filler. The other features though, I'm hoping we get to see in an expansion.

Well, did some testing and it turns out that the stuttering calms itself down but it takes about a half an hour of just sitting to do so after loading. Might just have to do with memory hogging saves but I just found it supremely wierd. it didn't used to happen to me in the older version but it could also have to do with the new save performance I read about, or might be nothing, might just be a fluke based on the current stuff going on in my galaxy, could be more memory hoggy than normal. <img

I haven't heard anyone else mention this but I'll go ahead and do so since I recently discovered it and found it quite frustrating. Now I've played a few games with the new 1.1 patch and lots of things seem cool. (Aside from some glitchy icons for starbase upgrades and reminders but those have always been there.) However, I recently played my fist game that took more time than I could play in a day. I was having no trouble running it, but I was getting sleepy so decided to

Now that 1.1 has been released, the future updates will most likely include future bits of functionality and things to make the game nicer, well I've recently had an idea. See, for a while, some of the ships I made just didn't look right. What was it? I mean, sure you can replicate ships from many different Sci-Fi universes in this game, or even make your own, but what was the thing missing that I wasn't able to figure out? Well, I finally got it. Matte. <br

I really wouldn't mind espionage being a bit more useful and lively (In the expansions, right SD? ) As it is, it would be cool to have my high espionage races be a bit more useful, and be able to keep pouring money into it to give my enemies false information about where my fleets are going to be, what is on my planets (I just heard they have a fleet of 200 ships!

I agree with alot of the sentiments here. Firstly, more room for more powerful engines, secondly, space, no air or water drag. Sure smaller ships might have tons of little thruster bits to turn and maneuver them here or there, but that doesn't translate into speed of the engine type. If you'll think back to Star Wars, which is probably the originator of your image of big, lumbery ships: Star Destroyers can jump to hyperspace, TIE Fighters can't, this a

What's gonna be in it? Seriously, though, on the two release options, Traditional, and Alternative, Alternative seems like it only works when the Expansion/Game thingie has different content than the original, but also LACKS some prime piece of the original, such as in Guild Wars and it's expansion pack. Both are stand-alone games in their own righ

He's possibly a troll, possibly someone from a company contracted to try and make people talk about Civ 4 and dis similar games, they exist everywhere ,and post similar things all the time. And since his post has very little mis-spellings and grammar snafu's, I am betting he's not just an ordinary troll. Ignore him, close the post.

Some people can't play on these insane difficulty levels and aren't man-gods with 500 fingers and the ability to think ahead 400 turns, we need our lower settings, you get the higher ones. And since most people think the game has INCREDIBLE AI, you must just be a genius.

I would definately find it cool and more immersive to see small ships racing about, big ships lumbering and bombarding with artillery, and just better combat screen behavior. It would do alot, for me, for the sake of immersion. When I send three scorpion battleships and 6 fighters into a battle with another fleet, it just seems to look like a bunch of ships wandering around in random directions but mirculously managing to hit eachother with

(In rambling form, keep in mind) I would like to be able to terraform and colonize uninhabitable worlds, and live underwater ,with the snorks. Espionage would be sweeeeet, but I'd also like to see things like carriers, command ships, larger fleets. (Ringworlds and inside sphere worlds sound cool, but what use are they aside from mimicking Halo?) Perhaps more customizablity, races that feel different, different techs, ability to do even CRAZI

I sortof wishes Alliances could be used as tools to either keep tabs on an enemy or team up with an enemy to take on a superior threat. Take, for example, the Russians and the Western Powers in WW2. Even while they were fighting on the same side relations were somewhat tense. There was alot of distrust especially during the end which eventually bloomed into the cold war as the alliance broke apart and they fought over conquered territory. Now that woul

This is something I hope the devs adress, a 'max acceptable' button for the money slider. I can't think of a good reason not to have it, it get's boring to get to the exact number and after a while I just drag and end up losing a ton of money due to laziness. I mean, I doubt that when Thomas Jefferson got his eye on the Louisiana Purchase, he had to sit at the diplomacy screen with the french and say '5 cents an acre? 6? 7? DAMN YOU TELL ME

It would be interesting to be able to control or subjugate a civilization without taking it over. Using their innate racial bonuses to your advantage. Like having a minor world in your territory who does your research, in return for your protection, or maybe at a threat from your Drengin enforcers. More than once I've taken over a planet wishing that I could have just enslaved it's population somehow. Sortof off topic, but interesting to think about.</

Crippled by paranoia makes good dystopian planets. I do remember someone saying cloaking was in the data files, at least partially, like they didn't finish it and were going to put in more code. And as for both cloaking AND orbital bombardment. It's not JUST the computer being able to destroy you, you can use dirty tricks on them, too. Using the logic of 'having these things is bad because the e

My humble suggestion is for a future patch, mayhaps, but I think it would be a good idea, and a fun thing to do, to have further options for nasty suprises and dastardly tactics in the future. I know that it has been discussed that cloaking technology, and thus, sneak attacks may be included in a future expansion or patch, as the coded groundwork is already laid, but let's expand that a little... I remember reading a post about an exploit be

I hope this comes to the attention of the devs if it is a bug, often times I have so much else to micro manage, micromanaging my explorers gets to be a hassle, I wish I could just send them out to randomly survey different areas. (and for the record, even if all of my ships are in different parsecs, they eventually end up in the same one, even if another unexplored parsec is closer.) Though I realize the devs do have better things to do with their time

I don't know if this is a bug or not, but it certainly seems to be something that puts a damper on my game. I realized it in an earlier game but tested it more recently: Basically, if you create several scouts and set them on auto explore, they will all head in roughly the same direction. This isn't all, however, as I've tried having several different scouts going auto explore in different parsecs at different times. Eventually, all of them are clumped
