If they make carriers work in battle, and have a role, it would be wonderfull. If they can't they won't implement it. Easy as that. It would be cool, but only if they fit in of course.

I don't know for sure, but let me put it this way. It's 99.99% sure they will go for a 2D map. 0.01% chance maximum they will do a 3D map. That would be just to look cool, and not caring about easy access to information and epic gameplay. Extremely unlikely Stardock would be that crazy. So reallly no point in speculating about this.
EVERYBODY playing simultaneously... If there is concurrency between players it's no longer a turn base strategy (I imagine TBS means that) In my version of simultaneous turns the turn is respected : when it's your turn you can do whatever you want nobody will stop you. If other players plays simultaneously it's because the system find that they can't prevent themselves to act real
I dont undertand your idea : all players are not in the same turn ? they would be one turn difference between the slowest and the fastest ? All players play simultaneously ?
Yep. Multiplayer for TBS has come a long way. You will be suprised. :)
Quoting NorsemanViking, reply 11 I'm not the slightest worried about that. More possibilities here will only enrich the MP community and make it grow. We need to look at Civ 4 and 5 in these matters, and the choices you have there in the setups. Most of Firaxis' solutions will also be ideal for GalCiv3. Except for the way they broke diplomacy with the AI in Civ 5's MP. That was terrible. Don't copy
But if a game offer lot's of MP possibilities that will divide the community : some will play simultaneously some won't, some will pay fast game other epic game... I'd say it's an advantage with these kinds of games they can provide long epic MP experiences. We have enough fast action MP experiences arround. There will of course be quick speed, tiny maps and teamer possibilities for those who want short as possible games. But what really will make MP to stand out in GalCiv3 is the possibilities to play hours after hours with many human opponents on big maps and on normal + speeds. The great SP experience, but with mostly human opponents.
Personally, I can't imagine playing a game like this MP with strangers. I'd imagine playing it with friends co-op (we are going to support playing against random strangers too but I think the most popular way to play will be with friends).
Yeah, friends playing will be popular indeed, but I think you will be suprised how huge the FFA MP comunity will become. I think it will be a good idea to mak

I wouldn't worry too much. They will keep this game GalCiv. Lot's of strange suggestions in the forum now, I agree, but the greatest design choices are allready taken. The good thing is that real Stardockians have taken these decissions, and not an eleven year old kid that is pulling ideas out of his nose before bedtime. :)
Oh no. I hoped so much that the map would be 3D this time that I would have accepted both cube boxes or truncated octahedra. But it is once again 2D. This is not Civilization which is bound to a planet's surface. This is a game set in open space and therefore there is a third dimension.
The Universe does not have 3 dimensions, nor does it have only 4, it has 10 or even as many as 11 dimensions my

Every time a post comes up on other forums about Stardock, be it Galciv3 being announced or anything else, someone (almost) always mentions that Elemental was a huge fail and that they are never going to preorder / buy from Stardock again. The Elemental name is etched firmly as a disappointment. Fallen Enchantress is your new IP, as far as I can tell. NOBODY speaks onl

Go for Elemental II, and make it a great game. You Stardockians have learned how to make fantasy 4X now, and if it's great it will sell great, regardless of the name. The good thing is you keep the continuty, and saves the Elemental brand. :)

Trailers are wasted on me. I pre-ordered without even reading a word about the game. Well, one word I read: GalCiv3. That's all I neeed to know. :) Call me a fanboy, I'm OK with it. ;) Other then that, thanks for the awesome trailer.
I think I get what you mean about ship building getting being tedious. The first time you make a ship it's fun. When you have to redesign a ship to deal with a new threat or a new problem, that is also fun. When you have to go through and replace all your type 3 lasers with type 4 lasers only to replace them all again 5 terns latter without them ever evening have been used. That is the tedium. You could fix that maybe with an<s

Good strategy games have micro. Micro can add to challenge, immersion, strategy and even pure fun. Streamlining can go too far and ruin the soul of games. What's tedious is micro that are there just because of poor UI/design.
That's the reason to buy a TBS game. For the mircro management. CO-OP never apealed to me, but it is popular even in these kind of games (for me that is more for RTS, 2 vs 2 games for instance). FFA games are what I play, and I find games like GalCiv are perfect for it (Fallen Enchantress would have been too). Just like playing the ordinary SP game, but with human opponents instead of AIs, which makes a huge difference in challenge and diplomatic opportunities (real shifting coallitions everyone). A marvelous gaming experience awaits us. &
