The 4X game is dead! Long live the 4X game! :)

I was right! :D

Unless Frogboy changed his mind, there will be heroes. I don't want to give away too much of what will be in future versions of the game other than to say that any future GalCiv III (and we're talking YEARS from now) would have "heroes" (characters) in

It seems some people have a hard time accepting that tactical combat means less strategy. I guess it's the same people that would argue Europa Universalis 4 would be a better strategy game if it had Total War-style combat. They would write posts in the forums there saying: Wouldn't that be awesome to combine EU4 and Total War? Wow, it would be the best game ever made dudes...." They don't seem to understand tactical combat has a cost, and it's not only the cost of deve

This is a significant change from stardocks age old philosophy of a non 'cheating' ai except at extreme difficulties. Not really other than in the sense that the AI is being cheated against (i.e. getting less stuff). I'll be somewhat surprised if people are able to beat the
We are excited too, Brad. This will be an exciting ride towards the final release Anno Domini 2015. I can't wait to be a part of the alpha/beta of this game.
Can we have heavy metal music on the game as an option. This would be nicer.
I think they like to save our ears. :) The classical tradition is the way to go!

There is also a huge difference between micro management adding to gameplay/strategy/f
I just hope they have kept the cosy altarian music theme. :)
Give us another full fledged expansion pack instead, with 3 main focuses: Sieges, Naval stuff and Empire management (pioneers building roads with upkeep costs etc, new economical mechanics, expanded outposts....). I'd be in heaven, and this game would be more awesome then awesomest. The only thing missing would be multiplayer, but that's for the next version of the game in 64 bit only. Small DLC's might be good for some short termed go
Combat will be awesome and fully exploit the possibilities of cinematic tactical battles, and high strategical warfare gameplay. This game will crush all opponents in interesting gameplay and large scale warfare. To make it even better; I will be able to play this beauty in multiplayer. I'm in love.
So many narrowminded views when it comes to multiplayer in this forum. Test Civilization4 and 5 MP and see how it should be done. Works as a charm. Simultaneous is the way to go.

Provided that it works well, and that you can play the SP game as it is in MP with all setup options etc. They won't "dumb the game down" to fit fast paced MP, and I couldn't be happier about that. I like epic, large scale, strategical MP experiences. The grand SP game, but with some or all the opponents
Better have one type of pioneers, the ones we have today, with the same cost. Give them the road building ability and remove automatically generated roads from the trade tech. They could also build the outposts without being lost afterwards, but it should take at least 10 turns, where they had to be defended from monsters potentially. Make some rules for max distance from outposts to avoid spamming, and allow outposts to be turned into fortresses that can hold a garnison if the pioneer i

I noticed that the one production status indicator shows either what ship is being built or what improvement is being built. I hope this doesn't mean we have to choose whether we are to build a ship or an improvement...ie FE:LH. [/q
You will get a Steam key when alpha is out they said, so it's not that big of an issue.
