I've looked at OD before. I may pick it up at some point. I'll wait until after I build my new system and add 7 to it though. I think I am going to grab SotS though. I'd forgotten about that game and I think it looks pretty sweet. We'll see

Last night I remembered that I had a 20% off code for Impulse that is only good until 1/1/11. I've got GalCivII, Sins, Demigod, Elemental... I like a good strategy game.. or an RPG... I was also thinking Sims3 for the kids. My daughter loves those types of games - I just never thought about Sims before. Wish the new tower defense game was out.. what was the name of that again? Dungeon Defenders or something? The TD/RPG hybrid. I'

I'll second Macinarium. I had it already but it also came with the Humble Bundle I picked up (great deal). The game pretty much just calms you and makes you happy. The music is great and relaxing. The story is entertaining. There was never a moment where I felt the puzzles were silly or non-sensical. The one moment I did not enjoy as much was... connect 4(?)... I can't remember the exact game but it just did not feel like it fi

pacov you are a stud! I had the game off of my drive for the past couple of months after I started fresh with a new HD.. but this post has inspired me to reinstall and get it fired back up. My main gripe is still the same though... sitting in a lobby twiddling my thumbs. I forget.. can I window the game and play some Desktop Dungeons while I wait? Here's to hope... on both counts

I didn't see this listed anywhere and since we all seem to be on the same page when it comes to cool games and great deals.... I thought I'd post.

I'll be jumping on again to see if I can get in soem newb games. Haven't played in awhile and I was never quite up to the clan level... but the game is still a blast. The big problem is that you need to have some time to devote to getting a game going. I know this is just what it is but when I wanto to get on and play a game I don't always have the patience to sit through the lobby and wait. I want to give it a go again though. Hopefully Tobear an

Some good suggestions here. I appreciate hearing about good books I have never read and I will be sure to look closer at most of these titles. I have a few others to offer up as suggestions. Not all fantasy based but as i am primarily a fantasy lover (Martin, Weiss and Hickman, Jordan (to an extent), Salvatore, Watt-Evans, Duncan) and I loved these books, I'll share: Cryptonomicon by Neal Stephenson. An story of two intertwined timelines. WWII an

I wanted Spore to be super-cool. Actually I was told and let myself be convinced that it was super cool. Yet when I actually played it I was deeply dismayed with its lack of depth. What seemed like deep pools of awesome turned out to be cleverly disguised puddles. Elemental leaves me feeling much the same. I can see awesome but when I get there it is mostly just a cardboard cutout and some tape. I love GalCiv2 and I am hopeful that the team is a

I agree Poly. The game has a lot of choices and the UI takes a minute to get used to. For the most part I am not an avid tutorial fan but inevitably I end up going back to them when I just cannot figure something out. I started the campaign last night (having never played a beta version) and I was not at all sure what to do. The process of building a settlement and then buildings and units is not really intuitive. So I popped out to the forums and found

I'll play the free web based game for now. Should they change the name and start charging I'll move on. Heck - if they keep the name and start charging I'll move on. The game is fun but it's not all that great and I have Warlords on my pc now that I go back to every once in awhile for the fix.

Wow, super work pacov and adam. Much appreciated. I just bought an 80 GB PS3 off of ebay and i have been reading up on issues just in case. Very fortuitous that this was posted/updated here.. although I'm sorry you had to go through the pain.

I won't go too far down the path... I just wondered what type of enhancements a suit needs to have to give you that type of leverage in mid-air ;) I just picked up a ps3 and am looking fwd: to some of this monotony. Demon's Souls is on the way. Dante's is my next choice I believe. Bayonetta, GoW collection... a few others. My son wants CoD:MW2 to play with his friends. Then I can get into the RPG's... (not cross-titles like DA:O though).

Hmm.. what was up with grabbing that giant bullet and shoving it back down into the arm? I guess it didn't have much force behind it if our hero was able to turn it around in mid-air like that. I need to see a bit more gameplay outside of boss fights. Looks like there is some potential here but I saw some moments which made me think that monotony could set in...

I picked the game up finally and have played through a few maps. Not a bad game and one that I will probably continue with. I have never played the earlier games in the series but from what I am seeing so far I feel nostalgic for HoMM3. Even 5. Heroes5 definitely had its issues but that series just did this type of game right. Everything was a bit more intuitive than D3.

The gold box games had some great manuals. Microprose games always had some good stuff. I don't know if I would call Apocalypse the golden age but it did have a big manual for some reason, as did Homeworld, Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale... Although I think that the golden age probably covers a wide period of time and means something different to each person. For me it was walking into Babbages or Electronics Boutique and seeing nothing but four walls covered in box

Well, I got a response today that asked me to make sure my card and billing information was entered correctly... and to contact them with any further issues. Seriously? Perhaps I should have listened to you pacov and sent my message to support instead of just sales.... The non-response from sales has left me feeling a bit dry. I politely responded back that my information was indeed correct. No reply yet. Tomorrow perhaps?
quoting post Wing Commander Series: The pinnacle of "Space Opera" solid combat and story. Never have I been so immersed in space. this (except imo tie fighter and freespace 2 were better games). the space combat genre is dead
I agree. I lost half a year to tie fighter. I didn't even own a computer at that time.. I just showed up at my buddy's house every day...

Nostalgia plays a big part in saying that PC gaming is losing it's edge. I mean, I love all of the games mentioned but I don't particularly love playing them now. When I think back to the games that helped shape my youth and have stuck in my mind over time.. there are some gems. Bards Tale Might and Magic I and II Warlords Castles Below the Root Powermonger Alternate Reality Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord Poo
Anyhow, it strikes me as another somewhat broken mechanic (not being able to afford your heroes) - I mean, I could hire him, if the map took a LONG time, but by then, most of the enemies would be dead.
Is the game like HOMM in that you only start with bare resources? It does seem odd that they would allow you the option to purchase veteran heroes.. but no way to actually afford them. I suppose one thought would be that a level 18 decked-out veteran he
