Some people have reported the same even after unchecking show prerelease and refreshing XML, but they were able to get it by completely reinstalling. If you want to try this though, make sure to use the archive option on DA first in case it doesn't work out. I found that if I did the updates manually, and in the order they were installed (DL, HM, DA) that they started working again. Almost felt like a dependency issue t

The aI targeting routine needs to be tweaked. For example, I can 'blockade' an aI ship/fleet if it targets a starbase, planet or fleet - you just put a line of 6 or so empty hulled ships in it's path so it cannot go around them in one turn - it will try to go around anyway - then you just move your line a few squares to block it again - the aI will go back the other way to try to get around - do this ad naseum and the aI will never get to the starbase. (I can 'herd' a fleet doing thi

Oh, so you mean that SB i built over resources impact ALL my colonies? Does that show up anywhere, can i check it in some screen? I was wondering why the normal SB seemed to work, this might explain it..lol You can see the overall effect in your Abilities screen. You can see the bonuses you get for all abilities there - fairly easy to see the effect - just look at it before and after building the resource base.

The core combat ships as equiptted are useless. A surefire way to lose. Use the templates - you don't need to put bling on them - it only takes a few moments to add the correct functioning modules to them - I'm glad when they don't show up - they just clutter up the ship list. I obsolete them as soon as they do.

But stardock central is tool that i have to download to have. I find it useless as it just takes up space on my hard drive. Not only that i don't see to many patches that have come out for the game since it has been released. All in all the trouble you have to go through just to get a patch is really troublesome and time consuming. Hogwash.

What version are you running? I had thought this was fixed in DA...of coarse, my memory is not what it used to be... And I never build the Gal Privateer anymore...personal preference...makes the game too easy for me.

Hi! one of the AI races would keep sending almost all their warships at one of my unarmed ships. I've seen that in older versions of the game, and used that "baiting" extensively. What's your version of the game? BR, Iztok It is still happening in 1.6 beta 4. Obscene Intelligence level. I try not to exploit it...but it is hard when they keep following a scout as you try to get it out of danger.<b

Bravo! My framerate has increased tremendously - I can now play zoomed in past Tactical view and get Framerates of 40-55. 1.6 Beta 6 is working for me in that regard. Just played a few turns so far...no other issues to report yet. Specs: DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2

You can build a Survey ship on a Cargo hull, and try to build up it's hitpoints by gathering anomolies; then upgrade it to a combat design based on a Cargo hull. I od this occasionally - I'll get a Cargo Hull with 8 to 10 hitpoints after getting some anomoly bonuses - then upgrade it. Can be a pretty powerful ship early in the game.

Good points Elwood. I have just never had the aI constantly plant spies on me, so far. I get the occasional one or two - but it is fairly easy to keep a stock of spies in the stable to counter these...until the end game, when they get very expensive. Perhaps there should be a limit of how many spies you can place in one turn - this would at least spread the 'spy bombing' technique out over time, giving the aI (or the player) time to deal with it if they choose to. <

I have the opposite view. At first, I ereally did not like it - but after playing for a while, I have come to like the Spy system more than I did. Once I figured out how it works, it is not that bad. Bonscott's post (reply #20) pretty much sums it up. It could use improvement - the cost of spys later in the game can get astronomical, and the aI does not seem to use it well. I also don't like the fact that you have to cripple your allies to get info on them. But overall, it is not

OldStatesman, I have sent you an invite. Welcome aboard! Thanks! I just bought and moved into a new house - so pardon if I don't contribute for a week or two...I'll try and up my output, but have always been a slow player. I have been playing the DA campaign until 1.6 goes final...had the AMD issue and have not wanted to chance a funky MV submission.

C-Mac I just think the chances of getting a Research Bonus from a Civ graveyard has been tweaked. In my experience, I still get them whether switching techs or not - but only about a third of the time now, doesn't seem to matter if I change techs or not. 1.6b4.

Only real problem i have with this is the star base issue. A lot of times the placement of star bases leaves planets on the outer edge of their influence which would make a lot of star bases completely useless. Would be better to decrease their influence, UNTIL you upgrade them all to top sensor levels. This way you have to do some research and add 4 additional contructors to each startbase. This way its a problem that you can overcome...for a cost. <br/

Universal 'Dark Matter' Increases - Sensors become almost useless. Maximum Sensor range reduced to 3 parsecs. - HyperWarp engines cease to function reliably. Speed cut in half for all engines. - Beam weapons are reduced in strength by 1/2. - Trade routes are harder to maintain - values cut in half. - Minimap no longer will show other empires ships. - Asteriod mines production halved due to decreased efficiency. <

Young wippersnapper. When I was a kid, we would lay in the dirt, hold the stick between our teeth, and stare at the shapes in the clouds for at least the entire day... You had dirt! When I was young we only wished we had dirt. Dirt hadn't been invented yet. It took another few millennium of wind and water erosion before we even had sand for god's sake. ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!

Sorry - got the Expansion through SDC ....never have read any new manual... I guess being in the IT field for so long - I've gotten jaded and almost never RTFM. For any software, game, app, db, ....OS, anything. I put it on a test lab box and play with it - I have found it is more time efficient for me to learn it this way - I can usually get a good basic feel for most software in about
