Hi Yes it happens to me as well with 1.96, not with a custom race. I reported this to Stardock over a month ago incuding a screenshot but I haven't heard anything from them... I'm pretty sure you can reproduce it at any difficulty setting, with any race.

Hi, Being a n00b, I currently play games on a Medium map, "Normal" and I tick the Randomize AI" box...so does that mean that I could have a really dumb opponent (=simple AI algos used) and a really smart one (=complex AI algos used) on the same map, in order to average "normal" difficulty?? That sounds a bit extreme as, understandably, the smartest opponent will wipe everyone out in a matter of months... Maybe I should untick this box until I get better? Oh and should I sti
IMHO the Dregin got the biggest shaft in the switch from DA to TA. They are still fairly similar to the Korath, but while the Korath leaped ahead with the other races, the Dregin seem to have been left bobbing in the water calling for help.
OK that's interesting. So according to you the 2 races that missed the buff train from DA to TA are the Iconians and the Drengins. I suppose compared to the Korath, the Drengins seem...friendly :p I like to play ag
Hi, Since the races in TotA will now be radically different due to the individual tech trees, do you think that this will enhance or introduce imbalances between races? Are balancing issues really obvious in TBS games compared to some RTS? I know that the relevance of the following example can be doubtful... Take StarCraft for instance. Still today, 10 yrs on, it is lauded for its remarkable balance between the three playable races. Only three races, but excellent balance. R
OK I may have been unclear in my initial post ;) I just meant making SDC portable in order to download archive updates AND install them later on an off-line PC to update a registered copy. I didn't mean to say that I wanted to make the game portable :) Thanks
Hi It would be great if SDC could me made portable, e.g. on a USB drive, that would allow us to download the latest update from pretty much any computer with a live connection and an accessible USB socket without having to install it when you roam :) Thanks
Hi, I currently have DL 1.50.128 installed. On the 12/21/2007, along with an update to DA 1.80g and TA Beta 3, SDC showed a new DL version: 1.50[b].102 Beta. What?? (:( I haven't heard anything about it, nor haven't seen any changelog..Funny thing is that the .sdc files for 1.50.128 and 1.50[b].102 have the same size. Plus, the version number is inferior, where they usually go higher after each version...Also, I find it strange that Stardock would release an update for DL... S
Thanks for the advice folks. The orbital fleet completely makes sense now! ;) I'll get back to let you know how I get on... :) So long
i'll try a new game in Normal next. As Terrans, against "peaceful" civs, and learn, because that's true, I think I'm picking up bad habits. Still, it's crzay what I've learnt since playing TA. Things are more intuitive. Thanks!
Hi, I play the Corx as Evil against the Torians, the Drath and the Arceans. Level is Beginner, large galaxy (TA latest beta), trade tech enabled (i like that now actually). I have over 60% influence and heading peacefully towards a Cultural Victory. None of the other races seem to bother about my Cultural Conquest Centers shamelessly sitting across their empires and turning their planets and resources with no resistance whatsoever. I completed the
Hi I was wondering something regarding racial dispositions and their relationships towards other races. Let's start with a game, say, The Iconians vs the Yor. Will their initial relationship be hostile from the very start (since we know they HATE each other) or will they start at "Neutral" and progressively work their relationship towards friendliness or enemies? Same goes for Terran vs Drengin, Torian vs Drengin, Iconian vs Yor...etc. Is the AI engine programmed to au
Hello, Do you often play Custom Maps? I find the lack of description and galaxy size iritating and off-putting. Plus, the names are not always explicit. What is 3-Ceres for instance?? A tooltip or a "details" button (like for scenarios) would be welcome. As well as that, some combinations of scenarios and custom maps will not allow you to change the number of opponents. That will cause a window to pop up saying that "The number of opponents will be changed because of custom ma

1Hi I was wondering: has anyone thought of how interesting it would be to add religions into the game?? Or you could identify civs with religion characterics or game behavior: Terrans = Clerics, Korath = Inquisition, Krynn = Whirling Dervishes, Iconians = Zealots, Torans = Crusaders, etc. And for instance build a shrine on the Main World that would increase morale, try to convert planets to your beliefs, lead holy wars, Jihad (the Krynn are kinda doing that already I think), wr
Hi, Just now as I was playing on a custom map, I was thinking that a short description of each map could be handy when mousing over them, of with a popup similar to the Special Ability description, or to the "Details" with scenarios, as their names are not always necessary self-explanatory, Also, regarding the max number of opponents: it would make more sense to me if the number associat
OK, I was able to download the 250 MB archive and update my copy of DA installed on the offline computer. The launcher is fine now! I now have to receive the .sig file to activate the patched game... Very tedious altogether but it will eventually work. Thanks for your help guys, Kryo, thanks for your patience <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Smile.gif" border=0 align="
1/ a standalone patch 2/ a standalone patch that is not SDC-only 3 and a standalone patch for those whose Galciv2: DA copy is intalled on an offline computer
Fine. I'll give it another go, thanks
Hi, When you save a game and exit, then go back to it, will an event be triggered at the same time in the same game, say x turns later? Or does the fact of exiting the game generate a somewhat random set of AI behavior/events? Thanks
89/100 according to Metacritc http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/pc/galacticcivilizations2darkavatar?q=dark%20avatar
Hi, I have noticed in DA 1.50 that the galaxy setup options such as clusters, stars, habitable planet frequency, anomalies and others, are reset at the start of a new game. This is a bit annoying as for the time being I play with the same options for each game. For instance, default for anomalies is "Abundant", I always have to change to "Occasional".. As far as I know, these options were carried forward from one game to another in DL. Or has this been addressed by the "SDC onl
I see Will give it a try then...Thanks for your patience
No standalone patch...What a huge letdown. I just don't get it! What made Stardock choose not to release them anymore? I purchased the game, Pre-ordered DA back in July, I have a valid licence and I am therefore entitled to upgrades and patches...Having to install the game on another machine to be able to archive the whole game directory is just too lame. So since my main computer is offline, and that I have no hi speed connection, I can't update the game anymore.

Yep, the .exe does the trick in the sense that it launches the game directly. I hope the 1.5X upgrade will be available for standalone download soon and I'll give it a go. I'll let you guys knwo, thanks!
