Yep, I turn off that victory condition. The towers are still awesome to build though. I guess I get the concept, but it should be later in the tech tree. The one time I used it I was already at war with the only other faction I had found (Tarth was somewhere I hadn't been yet) so I don't know what happens, does the AI declare war?

Well, I finally managed to bill the Great Mill before the AI and the only person/thing doing anything there is a mouse. I guess the people are all on an extended lunch break.

I can't remember if this is the game, but sometimes pulling back the fog of war will show something that has already happened. By the way, I kill every empire hero I run across on the map (never play Empire lol) just to deny them. Skip the free hero pickup, I have played 3 full games and 2 partial ones now and the only starter hero I ever found was the one where you spawn. By the time I unlock level 5-9 I have more than enough money to pay them. Unless you are playing a me

I got that as well. I think the problem was that the map was too narrow, so they were in a space that wasn't technically part of the tactical map. My guy was shooting from the far left behind some mountains. I think it is just troop placement. The annoying thing was it was my most powerful melee character and I had to fight twice in that map location.

Just be glad you can lol, I don't think you could in WoM, if they even got injured back then, they may have just died. I just remember heroes becoming permanently gimped, but maybe I was missing something.

At the begging of WoM there were tons and tons of chaps to recruit, it was so much fun. Monsters also spawned in Fog of War and got stronger the longer they were alive equaling more cash and exp for killing them. I used to wall off a large area of the map and just send my heroes around to level them up. There were some problems back then, like you had to cast this empower spell on your heroes so they could use their special abilities which permanently reduced your sovereign's mana pool, b

Well, that seems like a bad design. That' means a 4 mat 3 food 3 essence square is not as good as a 2 mat 3 food 3 essence if that square is close to a forest or river.

One question. Do you have to put your town right next to a forest or river? I don't seem to be able to build a lumber yard or dock if they come into the zone of my city after the fact, even if I have built improvements right up to the forest of the river.

I found sword called Sword of Wrath, it's a purple sword with various effects, one of them is +5HP for kills. This effect does not appear to work. I haven't looked to see if the +30% cumulative damage per subsequent attack works or not.

Putting the tax rate to 0% to start is a good suggestion to keep unrest down when you won't be making any money anyway. Just don't do what I recently did and forget to bump it up to at least low when you are ready, my income went from -1.7 from my armies only to +63 [e digicons]:|[/e] I think I waited too long.

Why poop on Warlock? Even if you only play through a few campaigns the game is $20.00. I played it for longer than I played Torchlight and I never felt ripped off by Torchlight. 20 + hours of entertainment for $20.00 is pretty good. Check out the price of your local prostitutes for a comparison.

Syberia 1 & 2. I mean, I love a lot of the games listed, but how those two have been missed I don't know. Also, Tex Murphy, Broken Sword, hell, just go to GoG, click adventure, sort by user rating and run down the list all the way to 4 star. Easy.

Well, I understand people complaining about nostalgia and rose tinted glasses, but here's the thing, you obviously enjoyed the game enough to remember it and even more than that for it to become a high water mark in turn based strategy in your mind. MoM may not be a technical masterpiece, it may have a ton of issues and it may be crap by today's standards, but man was it fun at the time, and that's what games are for. So, I don't sit here and compare the technical or A

[quote who="TorinReborn" reply="26" id="3270951"] Quoting Lord Xia, reply 19Also, consider how different things are after FE's release than they were at WoMs release. Massive difference. The forums back then were exploding with legitimate complaints, vile rants, asking for refunds, and it didn't go away for months. What do we have with FE, a pretty general recognition that the game is good, a few minor bugs here and there being reported, and s

Give my vote to the road gradually coming into existence itself. It's kind of silly you have to micro manage that in Civ. I mean, even in today's day and age, loggers make their own roads, miners make their own roads, so do oil and natural gas companies. If they are used enough they might be paved but are more often just chip sealed. Increased tech, just in a general sense should improve the rate, but instant just shouldn't happen.

I own many games through Steam but for some reason don't really like it. I haven't given too much thought as to why, I think it has to do with how often I upgrade my computer and how many different computers I use, which is as many as 4. With Impulse (the old one) I easily installed Gal Civ 2 on all 4, Steam is a pain in the ass for that. On an Impulse note, I have not bought anything on it since Stardock sold it to gamestop. GoG is where it's at for me too, first
