Ok I'm going to purchase both Space Rangers 2 and Pre-order Dark Avatar (I want to get into the closed beta =P) but I'm wondering how to do it. Well thats a bit off, I know how to do it (my new and first credit card!) but I'm wondering whether it would be better to just pay for the two games at a cost of $60 or buy 10 tokens for $70. The problem is I'm not sure whether there's actually any games I would spend my extra tokens on. The corporate machine looks semi-intereasting and
Morberis
Also how long does it take to process the transaction,if I order tokens how long before I can spend them?
I have one complaint, the demo doesn't come with an instuction manual of any sort and while in charater creation (as far as I've gotten so far) there are no tooltips.
Oooo, of course I'll have to try out the demo first but this looks like it might be intereasting.
I'm a noob and I see my borders being criss-crossed by many a ship(scout ships atm b/c I'm only 50 or so turns into a gigantic game). What good are borders? I do believe that those are not borders, they merely highlight the edge of your influence? As for the flipping of planets through influence I;m not entirely sure, I rarely go that route,
There is, check your stardock utility.
I think engines give more life support too, think of it logically if 2 ships travel that has the same size and crew, but one is faster than the other, the one that is faster can travel further before a refill. You've got to remember that this is a game and may not be made to represent the real world.
I personally would prefer something similar to Civ 5's upgrade system.
New: + added option to save ship design to disk. If turned off, the ship design will not be saved to disk and will not show up the next time you start GalCiv2. Ship designs will still remain in memory until the data is reloaded (from a save game, from starting a metaverse game after having played a normal game, etc). Yes!!
Must... have....
Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't they adding race specific (sorta) planet conditions in DA and you must research techs to be able to colonize the other planet types?
The barrier couldn't in real life terms be a physical object, it would proabably have to be a field of some sort or a bending of space in some way to make it impassable. It would be along the same lines as the starbases lowing enemy speed, except stopping it. Of course there would have to be some way around it, possibily attacking it or 'terraforming' it.
Ah yes I remember reading that somewhere, thanks for the info. Hurry up credit card application!
I have one question, when you mention that pre-orders well allow access to beta when do you mean? Hmm what I mean is whats the timeline for allowing pre-orders to participate in the beta. Will it be on the old release date, earlier, later? Thanks for any info. O yes, ne other question. Pre-ordering without those tokens requires a credit card correct, we can't use paypal?
Personally while I'm willing to use Digital Distribution for Dark Avatar its not something I would ever consider as a first choice. I love the culture of the video game store, I love going and talking to the same clerk year after year talking shop about video games. Digital distribution takes out that human quality, which is why i'll always look at it as a second rate distribution medium.
Multiplayer is a waste for a game like this. Period. Have you even been around this community?? Maybe only 5% of this community wants that in this game. A turn based game that takes as long as GalCiv2 to finish, you are out of your mind. I certainly don't have the time to sit on my computer for 12hrs a day trying to finish a multiplayer game. I have a life outside of gamin
"You know, we like you, but we don't like your posting your fleet so close to our border. Remove your ships. I know, in some ways its one of the first games to give the AI more options than the human, which is quite annoying imo.
This needs to be a poll, imo the best way to get the opinions of the community on this. For what its worth I would vote for a expansion after christmas if it came with more features and if those that pre-order (at any time) getting access to a beta copy.
Could we have this as a poll on the side? Anyway I would vote for the expansion after Christmas with those that pre-order (at any time) getting access to beta.
I like the idea, and like many other aspects of the game it doesn't have to mesh with reality. And yes stars do slow things down, in fact all gravity wells do if your trying to leave them. The slingshot effect works not because it has propulsion but because the object saps a little bit of the rotation from the object. HUGE object emparting 0.000001 of its rotation to a small 40kg object is going to speed it up alot.
Well of course not many others would and I do believe it can be adjusted for. But take some of the polls that ask how you liked # patch. There are alot of people who like the game that don't necessarily visit the website and forums. So you get people who say didn't like the patch and don't vote or people who liked the patch who don't vote or people who get technical difficulties and don't vote. You can clearly see that in WoW where a significant portion of the populace will miss an anou
I dunno playing with the AI at its toughest setting, while far better than other AI's I've encountered still is no match for a human player. At tough, for me anyway, the game is still a breaze, I'm not sure what the economic benefits are but I tend to play on Painful.
How much does it randomize? Like could it say make the beginning techs as expensive as top teir techs or does it randomize only within a certain range, say and increase or decrease of 50%?
Yeah I've encountered that too, I thought it was due to a small asymetry in the parts but if there is a way to mirror it that would eliminate it and make me use those parts much much more often. Is it possible?
Some ways other than changing the intelligence to make the game harder? Don't play on close clusters for star settings and play with lots of habitable worlds. That way the AI's better ability to micromanage comes out. If you want to play an easier game play with few habitable worlds and with close clusters.
