Hmm. I can't figure out how to edit my reply. me = board newb. That first sentence after the Frogboy quote SHOULD be part of the quote itself. Must have made a boo-boo. Anyway, it occurred to me after posting this, that perhaps the initial IN-HOUSE plan was what Kryo states it to be, but what Frogboy wrote on the forums about how "2nd exp. will be free to customers [y]" just a couple days ago doesn't quite sync up wit

Not sure if it's possible, but what about different types of mana (fire, earth, water, air) which can all be global with each respective shard generating that kind of mana. Then have spell casters have different affinities for each (they can be like stats I believe). Example, if a mage has a high affinity for fire, perhaps his spells do more damage or he uses up less fire mana. Some spells might use more than one type of mana (volcano = fire+earth, some mud spell = ear
Or perhaps divide them into two techs, and make warg riding a rare tech for Kingdom factions and horse riding a rare tech for empire factions (with the exception of Kraxis perhaps).
Yeah, my favorite thing about hotseat is the ability to play against oneself, because I personally find that to be a lot of fun. I did a lot of that with Dominions 3. I'd love to roleplay different factions and essentially play out a story in my head, almost like one would do as a kid when playing with their toys and such. ...So yeah, while that may be a bit weird, I still find it lots of fun.
Yeah, I'm inclined to agree with this. No reason you can't have a somewhat isolationist faction if you want and marry your children to selected champions. I could have fun role playing that and essentially promote certain champions to nobility.
For a game like Civ 4 or that series, a campaign isn't really that important to me, and in a sense would kind of be out of place since the game spans thousands of years and takes place in a historical setting. You don't really need that much context to understand what's going on. But in a game like this with a fantasy setting, I'm more inclined to want a campaign so that I can better immerse myself in the lore of the game and get some more context about the whole thing. Th
Thanks a bunch. I guess I'll download 3 and play around with it then for a while.
I'm thinking of learning python so that I can use it to mod elemental when more support for that is released, but I see that there are two major versions out there right now, 2.7 and 3.1.2. Does it matter which version I use?
Not sure if this is the proper category for this question, but here it goes. I understand that if you contract yourself out as a programmer, your work can be classified as 'Work for Hire', in which case the employer would own all the copyrights to the code. Now, obviously in this case, I'll likely have a copy of the code, and even if I delete it (would I be legally bound to delete it?), a good chunk of the structure and stuff would be in my head. The first question
Yeah, having to deal with lots of little rebel armies here and there would get very annoying, very quickly. A better system would be to make it more abstract, and perhaps devote some units to policing the area, keeping rebellions down (and if there are no such units, you pay a penalty that represents the lost resources to small rebellions). Then maybe you can have a real rebel force come if you neglect it for too long.
I had no idea about that poll, either. Could we humbly request to get a notice about an important poll like this in the Developers' Journal? After Z4, I imagine things should be pretty stable. How exciting!
I second this. I was mainly browsing the regular forums looking for mention of a poll without realizing that it was in the journals section.
Err I vote No.... even if it was crash free at this point. It just has too far to go to be ready for even basic MP. That being said, I think the MP test should be moved to Beta 4.... Beta 2 should be what Beta 3 is planned..... You do realize that that's a recipe for us just throwing out user input on things? Anyone is free to make their own game but on this game, we will set the milestone conditions. Beta 1
Allow me to begin by saying that although this is pretty much my biggest gripe with the game, I certainly don't expect it to be changed anytime soon since it would likely result in non-trivial changes to game balance and ai programming to reflect these changes. With that said, I'd still like to share my thoughts on this particular issue that I find somewhat frustrating. On that note, let me begin. Right now in GalCiv 2, there are two main types of production
I believe there are 3500 calories per pound, so you'll be off by 500 calories per week, but it's pretty close. Don't know if you've ever read the Hacker's Diet , but I found it to be a great resource when it came to losing weight, with a few minor modifications of my own (lost 50 so far, going for one more block of 50, at around two a week).
I would personally love to participate in such an event if you have spare room. I will indeed have time for such a thing, and the idea of going through individual mechanics appeals to me, I'm one who loves experimenting around with stuff like that.
Will be interesting to see how this hp or 'strength' system will work. Personally I like having attack be separate from damage, and defense separated from protection. This way you can have someone who is really good at hitting things, but doesn't damage much with each hit, or someone who is really good at avoiding hits (high defense) but if he doesn't have armor (low protection), so if he does get hit, it hurts, and vice verca. Seems to me the dragon should
Almost seems like some of you would have been happier if the content in the DLC would simply never exist. I know that's probably not true, but assume that all there was going to be was the main game and that no mention of any kind of DLC took place and it simply wasn't in the cards when making the game. You would then not know of it to complain about it and you'd be on your merry way. Here's the issue it seems to me. We've all gotten so used to the sticky pric
I think I remember reading somewhere that from an evolutionary standpoint when A gives something to B, A is showing superiority to B in that A is better off than B and B therefore submits to A (often times an alpha male will be charitable to the others in the pack). This can all be done subconsciously of course, but that could be why the receiver might show disdain for the giver, because of the acknowledgement that A seems to be 'superior'.
Heh, I didn't even notice the difference in fonts, as apparently I have the same issue, though copying and pasting the fonts did work.
Yeah, same thing happens to me every so often. I generally move my unit somewhere else around the border and eventually it'll work fine.
Yeah, same here, when I alt tab out and go back into the game, the map is blank.
The Ginkgo gave me a feeling of light headedness. I've taken it by itself to make sure it wasn't just some weird interaction with something else, but I got the same thing. It's nothing major, but any positive effects it may have certainly don't, in my opinion outweigh the negative effect. The Acetyl L-Carnitine helps me focus and supresses my appetite somewhat. The vitamin B is good for general energy levels, though I recommend taking a time release pill so that you
I"ve been playing around with dietary supplements as well, paying close attention to their affects and trying to keep a skeptical attitude as to their effectiveness (to help potentially minimize psychosomatic effects). From what I can gather, the ones that I've, at least for myself confirmed as useful are: Calcium with vitamin D DHA Melatonin Vitaimin B12 (sublingual as MethylCobalamin for better absorption) Acetyl L-Carnitine (helps you
Just one quick note, I believe when he mentioned the 30 million, he said American citizens which wouldn't count illegal immigrants. That's probably the cause behind the discrepancy.
Security is important to a point, but even though one can imagine all the ways something can go wrong, one does have to weight the cost/benefits of implementing a lot of expensive (and often ineffecient) security to stop it. Let's expand on the WHAT IF scenario for a moment. The plane example was mentioned already so let's add a few other examples. What if said wife took the metro instead, and a similar scenario occured. Or shopping in a mall, or taking the bu
