I'm sorry but I fail to see the funny side of what you are trying to say or imply. You may have heard what I've said in my previous message before (though not quite in so many words), but if problems aren't fixed then it serves Stardock well to be reminded again and again that the frustration is growing with no light at the end of the tunnel being visible :(
Just to correct highlander : "IconPackager 4.0 will also be on Stardock Central for Object Desktop users."
Well, that's actually impressive and....not at all surprising! Clearly if you pay $50-70 for ObjectDesktop then you get catered for like the royalty. However, if you only add $20 to the pot for the bubbly at the next shareholders' meeting then you're treated like a "B" movie. Wait, that's not true because WindowBlinds people get their stuff updated very often in

It was just as I suspected: no one is able to offer any explanation for the way things are, any apologies for the way things are or any plans for making sure things won't be be the way they currently are. The sooner Stardock admits that things could be better and says how things will be improved the better. P.S. I'm still waiting to hear from Stardock's Support Operations Manager :(

Judging by version number I would say no, but it says it's available.
You're between a rock and a hard place. There's no point in updating to whatever alpha/beta that is the latest. I'm glad you like OD, I do too...to an extent. Yep, purchasing gives you access to stable (not really, though) build of OD+ 1.9, also the beta through Stardock Central and alpha through Impulse. Be aware though, those are not any kind of build of 1.95, they are still 1.9. And therefore I won't say anything about 1.95 because it's literally nowhere to be seen. In terms of waiting....hmmm, that's a tough one. And it's not being made by the fact that there is no clear idea of wher
Wow, that made more sense in my head than it does on the page;)Will recent customers be spared this extra cost?
Yep, as long as you bought in the past 6-9 months probably. The issue here is that 6-9 months ago OD was and is still at version 1.9 stable. So I'm guessing that that time frame will be extended to incorporate all people who bought 1.9, so they will get a free upgrade. Those who got 1.5 when they opened their wallet, like me, will have to splash the cash again.<
It depends on the time frame, and the price, and on whether I'm interested in the new features or just the bug fixes.
Time frame = more than 6 months at least Price = probably upgrade will set you back $15 unless you've bought it in the past 6 months or so. New features = unlikely in the next release, because they are still trying to iron out the bugs.

I'm afraid you're out of luck. Technically, OD doesn't support Vista 64-bit but various forum members claimed that it works for them. I also very much there's a known issues or compatibility list, not a public one anyway. Considering that Stardock won't even release a changelog for alpha that's currently making its rounds on Impulse, I get the impression that what you're asking for is a bit much. Apparently such information is not ready for "public consumption". Wow, now there's a mouth
Question. What happened to 1.95 that fixes vista 64-bit problems?1.95 was in the coming soon page but now its removed, and ive been waiting months. anyone?
Apparently there are people who have it running on Vista 64-bit so you're pretty much on your own there because it works for some but not others. Nobody knows when next stable OD is coming. Considering it's not on Coming Soon page I'd take that as a sign that nothing new will be around for at least 6 months so just swa
I wonder how many folks with 1.9x are goin to complain about having to buy 2.0.Maybe I'll be surprised.
Shouldn't get even a handful if OD+ is as "the best thing since sliced bread" software it's being hyped up to be. Having heard all the positive stuff about it, I can't help but assume that people will be willing to splash the cash as long as bugs are fixed.

Hi, No, I won't rant...so you can all calm down. Discovered 3 more bugs in the latest beta of OD+ in the past few days. 1. I have a tab in a tabbed dock called "Tray" where all the stuff from system tray sits cozily. However, all of a sudden the tab's name disappeared. I had a look in dock's settings and everything is as it should be but the name is still not being displayed. 2. There's an app that comes with all Asus motherboards that basically sits in your system tr

Which part of "I will sift through the confusion" don't you understand? From where I stand, if you start releasing updates only through Impulse then cut SDC off completely. It's no good offering partials here and there. Sitting on the fence like that is absolute rubbish.
They don't have to. They may not want to.
I'm glad that you put those sentences in the order you did. This leaves me nothing but to speculate that Stardock don't want people aka their own customers to know the answers. This says a lot for a proactive and we-look-after-our-customers company that it supposedly is. Just highlights what I've been saying for quite some time: lack of information. Here's their chance to quench the thirst for it and they blew it. [quote

Please answer the questions I've asked or give reasons why you are unable or unwilling to answer them. It's rather ironic that the "more people = more bugs fixed" wasn't applied to OD+. It doesn't take 2 brain cells to work out that the more betas and fixes are released the more they can be tested and more bugs can be uncovered and reported. There's no way you can deny that. So what if I'm the only one going on about it? Does it make it wrong in any way? If memory serves right

Point number 1 that jpkylegirl just illustrates what I'be been thinking all along: exploiting the need for people to have an update to enlarge your...ahem, audience of the product. Is it out of the beta yet? No, it is not. So when will it be out of the beta? Having read comments on respective forum section here and on WC, I'm not feeling too optimistic about it. However, when it's out of beta then there's a good chance of me giving it a go. Considering that I am still able to get the latest beta

It doesn't matter where the problems come from, as long as there are problems. Getting Impulse won't solve the problems and there are wider issues on debate here. Not to mention that nobody seems to be able to provide a changelog for this alpha. Why would I want to update if I know it won't solve the problems I'm having?

136 Replies 59,883 Views

While Impulse is still in beta people should be give a choice where they get their updates from. Something like that is common sense. Impulse isn't working 100% yet so why take the risk and offer something that is supposed to fix problems through something that we know has problems. If SCD is being phased out then fine but until it's completely out of the picture then offer the same stuff through it as you would through Impulse.
