After placing 5 planets in Sol system I adjusted several planets but the adjustments don't hold. Whether I name a planet or not the game assigns my homeworld. Once it was called mars even if I had designated Earth as the homeworld. Another time I was assigned to Venus as a PQ of 4 but I had readjusted the size, only it didn't hold. Earth in all cases stands as a either a minor colony or a PQ 10 planet ready for colonization. I'm very confused.

I have two main concerns. 1. Game crashes when I meet an opponent. 2. Custom map editor. ... A) Sometimes I need to put a star in the corner. The editor tells me that I can only put a planet in the same sector, but if I put it in random planet mode, it ignores my restriction. Not too mention no random asteroid mode. ... B) I would like the option of more planets and closer together. But, After making a map of 249 stars, after I randomed in the planets and saved i
bump Actually I did two tests the first time I only had two planets around Sol. I named one Earth and set it as the homeworld, size 10. When I started the game, My homeword became Mars Size 4 with a capasity of 16? Oh and the earth was the other planet complete with texture.

Kryo, I finally figured that out. The debug.err occured after I moved moved the planets map to the mod folder. It crashed after I set up a test between the Terrans and Altarans. Actually I did two tests the first time I only had two planets around Sol. I named one Earth and set it as the homeworld, size 10. My problem is getting the map to open period. The map I made was Immense and 200+ stars. That map opens but doesn't show up in game menu (map saved in custom maps in My games TA file). I randomly generated planets and made a new file. It won't show up in game option either. I went to reload each map into the map editor. The Stars map opens fine, but the map with planets crashed the editor.
I completed placing the stars. I put in some random planets. I did a temp save. But the game doesn't recognize the map. So now every time I try to open the map in the editor the editor crashes. But the original stars only map still opens in editor. Anyone have any ideas? Zyxpsilon, Thanks for your response. I completely agree with you but as long as this thing keeps crashing.... Oh by the way, I took the game out of full screen mode but it still isn't windowed mode.
Stars placed... about 200+
I was playing around with the editor and I'm a little confused. Example. Sol is in the bottom left corner of a sector. Why then if I try to place a planet I get a message saying that the planet has to be in the same sector as the star. But on the other hand that restriction does not exist if you randomly generate the planets. Any ideas why?
Thanks but I have a huge chart with Galactic coordinates. I am about to cross the 100 star threshold.
Hello All, This is to let everyone know about the new map I'm working on. So far I have plotted 50 stars. I will probably random in most planets. I plan to put in a few Sci-Fi planet names. The scale I'm using for the stars. each Sector is equal to 3 LY. each PS = 0.2 LY. As soon as I figure out how to post a pic I will.
thanks, I thought i might have to go into the ini.
How do you switch out of full screen?
After looking at various debug.err posts, I don't think SP3 has anything to do with crashes.
Could someone put up a poll and see how many people who experience craches upgraded XP to SP3. Maybe some of this is hardware conflicts.
Silly me, went to second page.
Kryo, I finally had the chance to really play the game, but it kept crashing after I met another race. I have had this happen every time. It does not matter if it is a major or minor race. In the debug it the final line is an eval. I am going to try a fresh install of everything if I can find DL Disk #2. Another question is whether XP SP3 has any effect.
Nasty, I was never going do that many systems. I was mainly interested in the races. They tried to use real stars when they could, but sometimes the writing staff wasn't so concerned about conflicting or made-up star issues. So, in this case, Rigel probably was meant to be Beta Orionis, But someone goofed on Enterprise, the result was to make Beta Rigel. In the skeem of things, it is not a big deal. But would help if the new editor allowed for random star system genera
Nasty, Thanks but wrong star. I don't know if someone goofed during Entprise or not. That Rigel "Beta Orionis" is too far away for the Enterprise to reach in descent time at Warp 4.5. So, I don't know if "Beta Rigel" was made up or not. STSC says that it is not the same as Beta Orionis.
Okay, unless something else rears its ugly head, I am done with the stellar database. I bought a copy of Star Trek: Star Charts as an aid. I am now ready to add in planets to the database as needed. (I also have "Worlds of the Federation" too.) I am testing out TA's editor but I'm disappointed in how it handles planets assigned to stars. Unless someone has any ideas on where to assign Major Races, I guess I'll just have to assign them later. On a side note: Does anyone know if
Mistralok, You gotta love the big widescreen monitors. I found out Sam's had a 26" monitor for $448 but that would have blown my budget. (My wife won't admit it but I think she likes this monitor, especially after she openned up two full pages side by side on the screen.) I have been putting this real galactic map of stars together with sci-fi planets and haven't had the chance to look at TA yet. I'm a little annoyed with the editor right now. Sarissi, I had a
I found something I don't like about the editor. In my custom map of the Milkyway, I needed someway to judge distance so I assigned each square a value of 0.2 LY. for this map it suits me. So to put Sol in the center I assigned it the coordinates [11,11], [165,165]. This puts Sol on the corner of a sector. Problem. I can't place planets next to each other or in the adjorning sector. But I can place asteroids in the nearby sector. I can only place 4 planets in my solar system.
